0:26 " -- I had learned the whole show in one day -- " Vai flicks in this astonishing fact parenthetically! Just imagine having to learn an _entire set of songs_ you've never played before (and maybe even more songs in the Alcatrazz catalog) PLUS whatever other show elements he had to learn...all in just *one day.* One day of preparation to go on tour replacing the great Yngwie Malmsteen. Most bands rehearse for weeks or months before a tour: Steve Vai got one day!😄

I bought a Carvin 212C 100w amp in August 1984. I was so impressed by this amp, I bought a Carvin V220 guitar in November 1984. I still play the guitar, unfortunately, the amp needs repairs. I bought a used Carvin amp last month. It's actually older, 1981 series lll 60w. I was using a Marshall 30w solid state for a while. But there i only one good thing about solid state, it's better than nothing. I am holding the V220 in my pic.

Good evening for us listeners it seems crazy to note that many of these musicians that we admire have had difficult passages. I remember a concert in France with Allan and Bill where the audience was 150 people. It makes you modest.

Al is wrist up and down, works for him. Yngwie is wrist more scoopy, works for him, M.A.Batio is wrist more like ur tapping a kill switch-calls it a knocking motion, works for him, Zakk is vicious and all elbow rofl , works for him. I mean these dudes are all top tier shredders and all have diff techniques. So just do what "feels" best for you and shred on!! Old school of "this way only" has been obv proven wrong 😂🤘

Now that I listen to this today, His solos sucked in a structural way. He was a great player but solos were a couple tasteful bends with a bunch of shitty blinding runs that really made no sense to the song. And that makes sense to me now knowing that his mind operates the same way.

Muted right hand wrist alternate picking is the same with both players.. Al doesn't have to fight with a silly Strat volume knob being in the way, regardless how it may appear, Yngwie cops DiMeola licks and does a similar muted alternate picking technique.😅

YM also cannot straight pick at the speed or with the fluidity of Al D. Further, while Al can straight pick up and down the neck and top to bottom of neck at impossible speeds, YM cannot. When YM attempts such feats, he has to sweep pick...which is a huge cheat.
