I saw that movie SO many times when I was young. Led to me spending a lot of time at a local college rollerblading the sidewalks, streets, etc. There was a time I was going down this one very steep road next to the college and a wheel fell off. I just adjusted my weight and kept going. A movie probably responsible for the fact that I became kind of an adrenaline junky. Skydiving, jumping off random bridges in Ukraine, etc.

One of those movies that I used to watch every time it was on as a kid yet mention it to other people and they've never heard of it. Just finished watching it again and it's just as good now as it was then.

I always wonder if this movie was supposed to be a remake/retelling of War of the worlds. They have the alien invasion basically being solved by a "virus" after all conventional means have failed.

Tony Cox you can see closely in spaceballs as one of the “Jawas” or “dinks”.. he was also the body of the preacher (different voice actor though) in “beetlejuice.”

It’s a great movie it revived the sci fi genre in the 90s the best one since Star Wars 1977 a new hope. It’s a perfect movie with strong and exiting charachterisations and a coherent story.

A light year is how far you travel in one year at the speed of light. The nearest assumed habitable planet that we know of is 24.81 trillion miles away (4.22 light years). In 6 months you could cover 2.94 trillion miles. All of this assuming light speed travel is possible and wormhole tech isnt real yet.

Old tech attaching to a new network would just trigger a firmware update. And 2 way communication is assured because the old tech has to signal the new network that the patch is done and it is ready to participate in standard network activities.

Waveform communication is how we arrived at the technologies we cling to... in nature. Yes the concept is ludicrous but so is the entire movie based on what we have experienced so far. Assume we are the first advanced civilization they have discovered. So they don't have malicious scans and such.
