  • As we say goodbye to Patrick Swayze for his last film in May Of Swayz(e) UnCaged, we see the actor a part of an incredible ensemble of a “who’s who” of the 80s Brat Pack. A classic novel turned into a classic film with heavy hitter director Francis Ford Coppola at the helm, join us as we discuss the classic story of The Outsiders. Should you watch the original version or the director’s cut? Who is our favorite Greaser? What were those kids doing in that abandoned church in the first place?

This movie changed my life. Watched it first when i was just 8 years old. It means so much to me. I can't even explain. The nostalgic level is through the roof. The murder scene with johnny scared me so bad. I thought about thst switchblade for years after and still do. I cried my eyes out when Dal gets shot at the end. ....Boys you have reached my pinnacle. I might just cry on this one. Lets go!!!!😭

Been watching this movie all my life. A lot more when I was a young kid but I'll always put it on if it's on TV. Love it! Lots of great young actors in this one. Sure, there's a little cheese and some of the plot doesn't make perfect sense but it still holds a lotta nostalgic weight to me! Stay gold, Ponyboy.

You guys are right... There was so much left out... Or cut... That was necessary to really know why things were the way they were. Here's some trivia for you...
The cuddle scene for example... Ponyboy actually had nightmares... He dreamed that something happened to their parents... And they died right after that. His nightmares were so bad he would perspire and puke... So Soda let him sleep with him so he wouldn't be so scared.
Johnny was beaten so badly by the Socs... That he lived in terror... Looked down, hands in pocket. Not to mention his parents beat him almost every day.
SE Hinton was only 15 when she wrote the book. I've always found that pretty cool. She also has a cameo as Dally's nurse. She used initials because her publisher didn't think it would sell well if folks knew it was written by a girl.
The kids were on a field trip... stopped to have lunch near the church. It was the 60s... That's what they did. Lol
Dally doesn't really love anyone... But he feels something for Johnny... Like he needs to protect him. When Johnny dies, Dally has lost the only person that meant something to him... And he kind of wants to die... That's why he robs the store... Feels he has nothing left to live for.
Soda loves Sandy... She got pregnant from someone else and moved to Florida with her grandmother... Even though Soda wanted to marry her anyway.
Their parents have only been dead for 8 months. (I always wondered why the house looked so crappy in the movie... Up until 8 months ago they had parents who could have used a paint brush in that kitchen at least.)
Again...keep in mind, the author was only 15... And based it on kids she knew from school...and only had 15 years of life experience to draw from... So i go easy with any plot issues. L
Oh... And Pony was writing an essay for school. And Tom Cruise took the caps off his teeth, so they'd be hoodlumesque for the movie.
Anyway... That's some of what was missing... That would have made it easier to understand. 👍

Who are these "executive producers" ? Friends of theirs, people from patreon, actually ppl from the movie industry? I have not a clue who that 4th opinion is from every episode

Hey! Great question. So we have a high Patreon membership tier. Only four spots and one of their perks is that they get to join us for a nostalgic and modern day review of a movie every month!

The complete novel versions only problem is the changes to the music all the Original parts of the film that he changed by putting like elvis and stuff it just ruins the vibe complete. I always watch the full novel version but wish I had the OG music from the theatrical cut. The music is the only problem I have with the full novel version

Don’t take this wrong. How close did you guys actually watch the movie? She isn’t happy that Bob’s dead. She’s acknowledging that they were good things about him, but also acknowledging he was a dick and provoked his own death.

If you’re ever in the Tulsa Oklahoma area, you should visit the outsiders museum, which resides in the Curtis house that was used in the movie. It’s actually very very cool to go to and see all the memorabilia from the movie.
