I just wanted to make a quick video detailing my experiences with owning and riding my 2014 Honda Grom for the last 5 years and 70,000 miles. Feel free to comment below with any questions. Feel free to join our FB group. Just search "Minibike Adventure Riders" on Facebook.
4.3 Vortec Silverado Towing 5,000 Pounds

Truck and trailer combined weighed nearly 10,000 pounds. It was a little slow, but it handled this for 1,000 miles like a champ at 70-75 mph.

A friend's SV650 with the muffler removed. The headers and pipes are aftermarket. He believes they are Vance and Hines. Bike belongs to @vroomtastic. Check out his channel!
Ninja 300 Muffler Removed (Straight Pipe)

My stock 2013 Ninja 300 with the muffler removed. Pardon my squidding, didn't wear appropriate gear since I was just goofing around on the driveway. AGATT!
I loved my little 4.3 in my silverado. It did good. I used to tow 3 atvs on 1 trailer and it did it. But now I tow frequently through West Virginia Hills and Ohio mountains. It did it. Didn't like it. So I opted out for a 2500 6.0 and man a difference. I still miss my ol 4.3. Best truck I've ever owned.
Sad 😢 good job tho
great video
Hopefully the new owners get her to 100k! And next up for you is to get the CB300R to 87k:)
So how many tires, chains, clutches etc. did you go through? How often were you changing the oil and cleaning the spinner? How many valve adjustments and cam chains did you do? Original wheel bearings? When the engine let go, that would have been more than enough reason for me to get a GF engine at that point.
Yeah those are good questions. Please respond mister Nathan Deel :O
Reliable engines but my truck screams towing the boat in the mountians
wonder if the grom consumed oil as it creeped up in mileage, I have a 24 Grom
That's pretty cool you had that many miles on a Grom. Hondas are dependable no matter the size. They are a fun bike for a lot of people but I'll bet the 300 will be nice for you as well, should be way more comfortable. You going to video some rides? Good luck and be safe!
whoa! that is a lot of miles, what is that about 900 bucks in gas? lol
Rear wheel bearings probably has to do with the chain being tensioned too hard when you sit on the bike.
I wonder how far the chinese clones will last?
Time for a Chinese clone grom. Get the 150cc or get a Vader 125 and upgrade to a 190 or 212 engine.
Why would you do that?
@@J2I3Hnot get the cheap clone
Man I remember watching your videos before I bought my grom. I only got 1300 miles on it right now I plan on trying to break your record😂 I wish the best to you and thank you
so one month later how many miles do you have now?
Wow that's unbelievable! I also upgraded from a Grom to a CB300RA, but did way less miles on my Grom, only about 10k miles lol. I love my CB300 too, still a single cylinder so quite similar to the Grom's "power" curve. I really hated selling my Grom as well, but needed a more powerful bike for commuting on the highway.
You did 87000 miles on a grom?! Man, that sounds like a true love letter to this motorcycle :-)
Good information. Thank you. Also I appreciate the message on the swingarm.
That's impressive to get that many miles out of an air cooled single!
very cool, i sold my grom and got a R3. i have 23k on it so far. i plan on daily riding the R3 until the engine craps out
You gonna rebuild it?
I sold my 2017 grom at around 56,000 miles to a friend. He is almost at 60k. Still has original engine, untouched, not even top end and still going strong. And the only reason I sold it was becuase I bought a monkey.
did it have the original timing chain at 56,000 miles? pls respond
@@DaBossk yes, and still has it.
Thanks for the update!
Geo Metro in the driveway? A fellow man of practicality I see. I'm gonna let you in on a top secret... The first gen Honda insight is an absolute gem of a frugal fuel sipping reliable fun car. I owned a geo metro back in the day and it was great but the Honda insight is in a league of it's own.
Great story Nathan. Big respect to you covering this mileage on the little Grom. Good to hear they can do the big miles. I'm on my 3rd Grom now. Love 'em. 🙂👍
good old Hondas they are known for lasting a really long time
Their motors are what put honda on the map
@brandonsmith3782 very true. I only ride a Hondas just because they are so reliable
Bro did you die?
Alive and well! New video posted 👍
I bought a new 2024 Grom and I was surprised to learn that it did not have an O ring chain ! That will be the next purchase. Can you fill me in on your recommended size chain. Will I need to change the spockets.?
I'm jealous. Need to ride my Monkey more, much more. My Elite110 had about 80k miles when I sold it to a friend, thing still ran strong. Everything felt loose compared to my other Elite110 with 10k miles. Changed lots of worn drive parts belt and variator/weigths, tires, spark plug, air filter, no bearings, fuel pump, but the most involved thing was the head gasket around 50k miles. Even had a fine crack on the case at the oil filter screen that caused a slow oil leak but I epoxy it and was fine.
2wd or 4
Looking to buy one. Would it be able to tow long distances frequently? Towing small camper around (3,000 - 4500lbs)
thanks for sharing my friend ,
What is your height & weight ?? Have you always used the stock rear shock ??
Its 2024 got any updates for us?
He just came out with a new video today
Hi, already got an update?😮
we need an update!
Such wisdom....
Dude that's insane!!! I can't do more that 45 minutes on the bike an my ass is killing 😂
How has the m4 been? I have one on my z125, just I don’t like the backfiring when i slow down
I finally got to tow with my 4.3 gmc 2006. I believe total weight was 4,200 lbs going up the grapevines( California) I was pretty happy that it towed it, not the fastest but it did it going 40-50mph.
Tidy looking bike, what mileage is it on now?
An congratulations on the new baby
This was cool an informative thanks
Interesting. Thanks for your high mileage reviews.
Noice
Bro, you are a real rider and adventure. I Salut you.
The oil spinner bolts are so fragile, aren't they? They snap so easily.
Groms are the best thing to happen in motorcycling in a long time!
What regular maintenance did you do yourself? Were there any break downs or repairs you couldn’t DIY?
625 miles in one day on a Grom. The man.
Ethanol fuel 10% plus is your problem.
Really? I run 10% ethanol in my 2023. Is that a problem?
Makes me like my 1995 c1500 5.7 a little more but not the reliability
Did you take that on the interstate?
