I’m struggling with N64 controller. I don’t know what to select for the C pad on the top right .
This worked but any idea how to get my marquee to light up again? It’s broken
@@benoscar5708 did you use the special cable to light up the marquee?
@@ShowtimeGaming101yes I’m using the special cable and the marquee light slowly turns off and eventually there is no light

do it work for the simpsons arcade 1 up??
@@vietdragon5610 yes but you don’t want the vertical screen mod. You’d want a horizontal mod for the simpsons
do this work on any arcade 1 up??
How do you play shooting games on this? Can you plug in light guns?
@@ryanl3935 plug in a Sinden light gun with a usb. It’s pre configured so you won’t need any sensors. Works great
I thought shutting down the pi by turning off the power strip would eventually fry the pi. Is that not the case with this build?
@@rayriley9102 yes it’s recommended to safely shut it down. this video was just to show the mod. One of our previous videos shows how to operate the arcade. From the main menu, press select and shut down. You would still need to flip the switch to power off the marquee and monitor.
Why would you cut the leads? Just unplug everything and you could sell all the pulled parts on eBay to make some of the money back you spent on the new system.
Hate the power strip on the outside of the cab. Other than that, it's pretty clean
Nice job! Overall very insightful. Which raspberry pi did you use?
@@fresh21627 thank you. Raspberry Pi4B, but this can be swapped with a pi5 or even a mini pc.
Cant acces the retroarch menu for some reason

nice
do you think there will ever be a mod for the 1up light gun cabs?
@@jecobian absolutely. It’s the same exact setup. This setup has light gun games as well. You can also make a custom control deck and buy the light guns to fit in the control deck.
do you think there will be a 4 player mod with trackball kit? (simpsons arcade) also couldnt the live button be the hot key? thank you for the set up vid
@@jecobian two very good questions and the answer is yes to both. We would recommend buying a pre made control deck with the trackball. You can still plug it in via USB and it’ll still be compatible.
It doesn't look easy. I'm not gonna try it. I'm afraid I will F it up and be left with nothing.
@@jamesmuller1481 don’t be intimidated. It’s actually far easier than it looks. If you’re not comfortable drilling then have someone do that for you.
Dude tighten the forstner bit in that drill! lol
I've modded my arcade and 1up with more games my mortal kombat arcade 1up has 1,487.00 playable game's arcade 1up uses MAME "multiple arcade machine emulator" I recommend getting a arcade 1up that's has multiple buttons so you can have full control of all the games for Instance do not buy arcade 1up PAC MAN because when you mod it you will need more buttons for games like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Street Fighter - Mortal Kombat - Fatal Fury - Art Of Fighting - NBA Jam and more....why spend all your money to get different arcade 1up's systems when you can just buy one and and all the arcade games you want in one unit...FACTS! Pretty much the same thing but I only added arcade games for my arcade 1up.
@@almacamc9152 Nice. we always recommend one arcade for vertical screen games and another with a horizontal screen. The vertical screen games don’t necessarily need buttons that many buttons. The horizontal is good to go with a street fighter layout as it can be versatile. The horizontal setup has 31k games and roughly 200 light gun shooters
I modded a MK2 deluxe with a Pi 5, but I didn't keep it for even a year. The machine is just too small and cheap feeling for me so I went with a DIY kit from Gameroomsolutions. Threw a PC in there and have a LED marquee on top and a real coin door. The build quality is just so much better than the cheap wood that A1UP uses.
Agree - MDF sucks
What’s the gun you’re using? I want to set that up in my arcade batocera

On a different topic. In Batocera, for games like street fighter etc are we supposed to map the 8 way joystick other than the cardinal directions?
When mapping it makes no difference for 4-way or 8way. Refer to the following video ruclips.net/video/_bXEHeU-0aI/видео.htmlsi=XCGdEFry50x_BLK2
Best video on the concept and product I’ve seen Excellent!!
Appreciate the kind words. Glad you liked it!
That’s super cool! Didn’t know that existed. I wonder if there’s a way to set it up to include 4 way or 8 way in the games metadata and have the servo rotate the restictors automatically. Then you don’t have to remember to push the button at all especially for those unfamiliar with the cabinet.
How do you power on and off

For me personally, button mapping is the worst. You're better off running a mini pc than a raspberry pi if you want to run PSP, Saturn, 3ds, ps2, ps3. Raspberry pi 5 is just too weak.
@@retroconsole_ yes, and there is an option to upgrade to a mini pc as well. The raspberry pi is wonderful for its intended purposes but limited to consoles such as ps1, n64, psp, Dreamcast era and earlier. The mini pc will add more games that include consoles such as GameCube, ps2, Wii, wiiu etc.
Is there a way to link two cabinets to play together like time crisis 2. thank you 🙏
What is the benefit of ordering a mini PC vs the Raspbery Pi? I noticed quite a price difference.
Raspberry Pi is quite laggy.
RasPis are very basic System on Chips (SoCs), that run some form of android/linux As opposed to a PC...that's well a PC. If you've ever built a Desktop, a mini pc is the same thing, just smaller, and depending on the form factor of the motherboard, less upgradable. People who opt for the RasPi tend to do so for it's lower cost, power consumption, very small size, and fairly quick startup. People who opt for PCs, do so for more power, capability, and more assess to emulator and if desired, the ability to play more modern games, such as those on the steam marketplace. In short, the RasPi is the cheap, entry level option for modders. A PC, is the more expensive, but more premium performance option for modders.
@@ragingtyga A mini PC would be easier to setup. It’s prebuilt and usually has Windows preinstalled. Any person can essentially get through the initial Windows setup. Raspberry Pi requires some knowledge of Linux/Android and command line experience. You have to install the OS to a microsd, place the board in a custom case if that’s your desire and further config your setup to get anything up and running. Even watching a simple RUclips video at 1080p60fps seems like a chore to the raspberry pi 5.
@@vitaAutLetum ehhh depends. There's tons of RasPai plug n play builds out there. Some you just plug in a USB and you're done
Good question. Our raspberry pi 4B plays up to the Dreamcast, ps1, n64, psp era and older generations with no issues. The mini pc will have more games as it is more capable of playing newer consoles without much hesitation. Those consoles would include GameCube, ps2, Wii, wiiu and the majority of those games can be played at 720p mostly without much issue and in some cases 1080p
step 420, this is gonna be really simple guys and no disassembling of the machine is required, but its gonna be real easy to do, just follow along!
Excellent tutorial man, I will try to mod my 1up arcade 😙😗😘😚😍
@@XmasTablet Awesome! Thank you for the nice words.
I live in apartment so of course space is at a premium, I could run one cabinet so I want to maximize it. I am thinking of the Atari 50 cabinet because it already has a spinner and trackball. Does the kit have inputs for those?
@@greyshadow9498 all controls have to be replaced. The trackball and spinner would need a usb connection to plug into the raspberry pi and then it would work.
@@ShowtimeGaming101 Bah in was hoping the kit's controller board would have the proper inputs. If I need to replace the parts, I may as well just do a custom deck. Which is fine because the Atari 50's stick position is kinda awkward I hear. Maybe a Street Fighter Deluxe cab and just knock out player 2 for spinner and trackball. Thanks for the info! Got some work to do.
