I think this was a wonderful video. Fun to see, and I happened on it while looking for inspiration for Wild Beyond the Witchlight as I am running it now. (Everyone has just arrived at Downfall.) I think this had some great ideas and a good cadence. What I didn't like is the cringy clickbait atmosphere of it, and the push that this had to be something else. Prefecing something with "It was good... but"... I enjoyed the niceness, the joy, the almost Disneyesque Peter Pan quality to it all. I don't think you fixed anything, but what you did do was provide a wonderful interpretation using some modern story elements on what Fae are. What I really liked though is that this video was concise. I'm absolutely going to see some more. Good speed on the road to 10k!

Yokai is a catch all term yes. However if you want to talk about the fey. Then that would be Yosei which translates to Faerie. What japanese creature are Yosei? Kitsune, Kimonomimi (people with animal ears and tail) Bake Neko (Cat/ cat girl/ cat boy with 2 tails). Ledgens say when a cat reaches 100 years old it becomes a Bake neko. Depending on how it was treated determines if it Malicious or benevolent. Treat the cat good and show them a lot of love they will protect you and your family and bring good luck to your home and business. You see them in asian stores Think right paw up means prosperity for your business, Left paw up means luck and protection for your home. Komainu (japanese Lion dog) Always comes in twos Boy dog protects your home from the outside, Girl dog protect the home feom the inside. Tengu, Jijurogumo, (Drider) Yamauba (japanese mountain Hag) TofuKozo, Kirin, Kupa, Kodama (japanese Dryad) Ningyo (japanese memaid) Ninjin: the more malicious mermaid that has gold scales) Kojien (non malicious mermaids that are very beautiful with the top half of a woman and bottom half of a koi fish both come with very shiny scales) It is also said if you eat a ninjin you become immortal. There is more but if you want to creat your own Japanese themed Yosei go ahead. Besides Shinto is based on Nature spirits. Well from what i know. When it is time for the Hag to take the child with her she only has 3 day's? 1 week? It's one of theos if she can't take the child the don't become hags. But instead of them not becoming a hag we can say they do but they don't suffer the physical effects other then skin color and don't have to be evil at all. The only problem i see with this is most likely no one will know if the child is a hag to begin with not even the child. However if they do find out then yes something can be done about it.

In Japanese Mythology we have something like that. They are called Bakeneko Depending how they are raised depends how they turn out. If there is a lot of anger, hate and rage, if there is a lot of abuse including the cat it will become Yokai. If you treat the cat good and show it love and give it a good and safe home with good vibes it become a Yosei. Bakeneko are regular cats at the age of 100 they will grow 2 tails becoming Bakeneko. If the cat was treated very well and gave them a good home they will bring tou luck and prosperity to you and your home. They will also protect you ,your family and home. They can go from regular house cat to anthropomorphic cat to cat girl/boy they are Yosei. Yosei is littlerally Japanese Faeries Bakeneko, Kitsune, Tengu, Kapa, Kijimuna, and Yuki Onna are some examples of fey in japanese Mythology. And they are not to different from the European fey just as powerful, just as unpredictable, just as dangerous. Treat a bakeneko badly they may kill you ro do something to get revenge. Kimonomimi's basically humanoids with animal ears and tails are also Yosei.

Im currently preparing to run a game that involves frequently traveling in and out of the fey wild. I think for a short feywild adventure it is easly to just have some fey be weird and call it a day but for my game I want to have a more concrete big picture to tie things together over a long period if time. Because of this I started to look around and find resources that could help me figure out how to run fey in a way that is cohesive but unique from the normal material plane and then I found your channel. Thank you so much, I am going to binge most of your videos and I am sure they will be a great asset to help me achieve what I am aiming for.

Write down information that your character would definitely remember. Dont need write information that your character would reasonably forget. Write down the items and effects you received, its now your responsibility about its existence. You cant forget out a sword into thin air. And thats it.

A small trick for tracking monster hp is to add damage instead of constantly subtracting from a new total. Once the damage gets close to the max hp, tell the players it's looking rough. Once enough damage is dealt, end the encounter. There's nothing worse than wasting a full round just for someone to hit that last 1hp left on the monster

I use a check mark for questions or to dos. I use an arrow for travel. An ! For important information.

I looooooove this method! I used your information as a base and created my own "session notes" template in my notion journal! I can't wait to try it out with my upcoming sessions; this sounds like exactly the sort of notetaking formula I needed.
