How do you get openxr toolkit to work with the psvr2? Everyone on reddit claims it doesnt work and I can’t get it to recognize mine. Trying to get openxr as my runtime on steam vr or just run skyrimvr as openxr.
Hi and thanks for this tutorial you made my life easier and for the quest3 ppl this setup workes perfect, im on a 4080s 7800x3d quest3 and now its butter smooth
Great job making this content, I know it's not easy, very hard to produce "what I see" in VR, I'm running a HP Reverb so trying to decide where to go and there isn't an easy option at present, it's a good image but support has gone for Mixed Reality :(
You set HDR to off ?
Can I play iRacing from iRaicing App or only from steam ; i mean i can play only steam games ;
i would try the settings if psvr2 wasnt a crap headset compared to whats out there
Is this easy to get the data on the wheel? Im new to all this. Do i need a pc or any external simhub hardware?
As a casual driver, I haven't got time for iracing or pc settings. Looks like you're getting more dive pitch in gt7 and more yaw and head rattle in iracing?
So after setting everything up , things don’t seem right. I’m running steady frame-rates, but the VR seems very floaty. I’m constantly having to re-center my view while driving . Anyway to fix this ?
Could be the room is not bright enough? I find that an IR illuminator light worked well for the headset keeping tracking in darker rooms
@@AnAverageSimRacer-sy9vxwould you have a link k
Hey i can't find the link to the Nvidia settings video you talk about in the video mutliple times ? thanks
Check the description, its just above my PC specs
Fantastic! Thanks 👍
How are you getting the standing overlay? Is that a third party app like racelabs. I can’t for the life of me of me get overlays to work.
So some of the overlays are added on OBS after recording from the headset. Yes they are from race labs, and i believe can be added to inside the headset as there is a VR mode in racelabs, i just havnt used that yet
So I’ve followed your settings. My vr headset looks decent. The problem I have is that I get freezing all the time. I have a plenty powerful pc and the fpsvr shows barely any usage out of my GPU and CPU. But I get the P bar (paging) spiking and the R G T bars will spike red and my screen freezes for like 1-5 seconds and then it calms down. It just spikes randomly all the time. No clue why when it’s showing my usage as being barely anything. Any ideas?
Hi, Thank you for your explanations. Why do you set the per application resolution to 3024x3084 when the PSVR2 headset resolution is 2000x2040 ? Thank you for your answer.
Its just so i can set the resolution per game. You can do it either way, set it native to the higher number then tune it down per game if needed i think
Awesome video thanks mate, this will help a lot when I get my sf1000.👍 Have you managed to get any other driving games to work with simhub on ps5 or only GT7?
I haven’t tried any other games, i expect ACC should work as it does on PC, but i cant confirm as i play that on PC to use triple screens
@@AnAverageSimRacer-sy9vxthanks for the reply mate, it’s such a shame for GT7 to get the MPH on screen telemetry to match the speed telemetry on the sf1000 we have to set the wheel to KPH it’s very annoying
I have no problems wearing VR Meta Quest 3 for hours while I'm sim racing. It is like wearing a helmet, how realistic can this be? If it is about ''simulation'', then go all the way. It is something to get used to. I use 3d party head strap which feels very comfortable and have also no problems with slower time. I do not use any stats on my screen, as I trust my Crew chief! The one's who refuse to wear VR headset are the streaming ones as they want be seen on camera or they spent awful of money on triple screens and overlays. There is no way I go back to screen or triple screen!!!
Do you recommend running at 90hz or 120hz with a 4070ti super and 14900kf?
Honestly, if it were me, i would run 90hz and have either more headroom or more eye candy on! I think the more headroom you have the less time you will have to spend messing with settings as you change track etc or encounter weather
Interesting, i almost thought GT7 came out on PC 🤤
Ok so I have followed this guide and it’s better than anything else I’ve tried so far. The only issue I have is that I get a lot of freezing and stuttering and it appears that the culprit is the reprojection ratio is spiking quite high. Any ideas? I have a 4070ti super and 14900kf. Feel like this shouldn’t be an issue. Any ideas?
i got a 4080super and 14900kf i got the same stuttering problem no idea why did you already found a fix for it?
@ unfortunately no. It does seem to be quite a widespread issue from what seeing though. So could be something went wrong in an update and only some users are effected
@ ok if you followed this and you’re still getting those, try turning off low latency mode in nvidia control panel. I guess some people can have issue with that and the turbo mode in openxr. Try just one or the other and see if it improves
@@skltr21 I did some changes to my system for me its quite a bit better. first thing i did was disable hags in windows. after that i did go into rendererDX11OpenXR.ini and changed VisibilityFrameDelay=5 to VisibilityFrameDelay=0 next thing i did was change in app.ini file showJoinLeave=1 i set to showJoinLeave=0
Great video. You just answered a question that’s been going around in my brain for the last 3weeks. I have a quest 2. I like it but I don’t like using the quest link app to get into steam vr. I know I could use WiFi but then the battery life would drop to nothing. That’s why I’ve been thinking about the psvr 2 or triple screens. I’m definitely faster in vr but the heat and eye strain is something serious. So that being said and after watching your video I think I’m going to go the triple route. Now do I go with 27” or 32”?
It just takes time to adjust to the triples fully, i am fully adjusted now and as quick or quicker than i was doing in VR. I went 32 inch 165hz 1440p curved monitors, basically as cheap as i could find on amazon and they have been brilliant! And. I havnt adjusted graphics settings once since i got them! And like you say, no more eye strain! 👍
My goal has been to get PSVR and a wheel some day. And this video proves the tech is really good now compared to a couple of years ago. To anyone, which is the "best" VR vs triple screens? And if so why and how?
Hey man, see one of my other videos where i compare both, racing a lot on triple screens these days! Lots less hassle imo
@@AnAverageSimRacer-sy9vxYES will def do that, thanks.
I currently use the PSVR2 for both GT7 and PCVR, and I gotta say, being able to start racing soon without having to change any settings is fantastic. I feel like I'm always fighting with my settings on PC. Granted, I only have a RTX3070 GPU, 32GB RAM, and AMD Ryzen 7 5800x CPU, so tweaks need to be made for a good balance between framerate and graphics. I wish more racing games made use of the PSVR2 on Playstation though :(
Yeah its a real shame how the psvr2 hasnt been well utilised by developers on the ps5
Only big downside with gt7 i find atleast is the hud in vr i just want delta's aswell even though i has been asked for years now it will never happen :(
Its surely got to be quite simple too? Surely not a huge update!
You asked about someone regretting going from VR to triples. I did that, and I like VR more. Triple screens are actually a pain to setup, and game support is really lacking. For example, you need an external tool to set ACC to triples, the game only renders in triple screen format, but it’s up to you to actually move the window to the right place. Without the external tool you keep the ugly bar at the top - or you need to fake a giant screen with Nvidia surround. And the screens cannot change position relative to your head, meaning any small head movement will break the illusion. Halo actually get in the way, you lose the depth perception because the image is flat, and even a small change in height (normal after some minutes, you get more relaxed in seat) make the monitors to lose alignment. Only iracing has the “vanish y” adjustment that’s needed for truly trick your eyes. I had 32” fast IPS screens, and first impression were good, but there was always something missing. In contrast, VR needs way less space, it’s actually better supported than triples and way easier to setup. If you have a light and comfortable headset, it’s basically down to the GPU to actually drive the games appropriately. I bought the psvr 2 to play Gran Turismo (while still having my triples setup) and it blew me away. It’s by far the best VR experience. But I’ve never played online and the game campaign has ended, so I’m now trying to use it for PCVR. My only problem is being the lack of raw power to get a good imagine on PC, even with an upgraded 4070 to super, I can’t maintain 90fps, so I’m using 60fps with reprojection. My suggestion is to go for a single monitor, the widest you can get (oled) or wait for 5000 Nvidia series and do an upgrade. For streamers, monitors make more sense, but for real normal people, VR can rock, it just needs GPU (or optimized games)
I had single screen, than VR, than Tv, than triples, than VR again. Many years have passed and it’s still hard to render VR racing games
Totally hear what you are saying! Maybe ill go back to VR in a few years when the tech has improved to make it a bit more “plug and play” on pc! (If it ever will). VR for driving and flight sim really is the perfect solution! Just wish i could see my damn button box! Lol
@@AnAverageSimRacer-sy9vx Maybe you'll with mixed reality. I can see Meta doing something like that. One of the things that keeps amazing me is that in VR I see the "real" car wheels, the official ones from BMW/Mercedes/Ferrari/Formula. I only need to be in virtual reality and my wheel is the right shape, lights, even the built-in screens work perfectly. In triples there was always the need of matching the physical wheel with the car, the Simagic FX wheel just looks wrong with old F1 and road cars. Some cars dashboard work great, others stay behind the physical wheel because of seat position/weird wheel shape. The downside of virtual wheels is that none of the buttons are my real physical wheel, so I needed to grow some muscle memory.
I haven’t play I Racing, ACC….etc, i am waiting for my fanatec, but its been a 6months that i am playing GT7 on console with G29. As a new player in sim racing i can say that GT7 is for kid.
I got the PSVR 2 and what's happening is that when I start IRacing everything is very blurry. It's playable but it really bothers me when it's so blurry. Is there a solution to this?

Thanks for this video! I've just built my first gaming PC (at least, in nearly two decades) and getting set up with PC PSVR2. Same CPU as you but only running an RTX 3070 for the time being as I'm just waiting a few months before deciding on 4090 or something coming after. Any areas i should focus on winding down to get comparative performance on a lesser card in the meantime? Anyway - at 2:00 with the Nvidia control panel, would there be any penalty if I applied these settings 'per program' just for iracing? I will be playing other games on my rig and I see these could impact performance in other non-VR titles.
Hey, no issues with setting it to individual game mode in nvidia control panel, i only really play iracing on pc at the moment so it doesnt affect me! But it will work both ways, if i were you i might drop the resolution a touch and then mess with the filters to gain more performance with the 3070 probably but cant say for sure tbh, Could also reduce the size of the centre circle on the foveated rendering and the resolution of the outer circles a touch, should give you a nice bump in performance i would say! Hope that helps
That’s what you look like. IRacing looks insane. Brilliant video Glen. I see your stint in RRR has served you well 😂
Ha its a really great sim for sure! The weather is mental!
That virtual mirror ruin VR experience. Dont know how ppl dont use real mirrors on VR.
Totally agree, although uses my system horsepower to run the mirrors instead of the virtual mirror unfortunately
They are great fun! I see you got the dog-box shifting going 👍More throttle off the grid start, even getting wheelspin it's still usually a reasonable start, the rears find grip quick enough on this car.
Thanks again, ill give the start a go like you say 😁 see you on track maybe!
Just some friendly tips (maybe you know already): 1. @8:38 grid start, you can usually start with full or almost full throttle and just drop the clutch with a hint of hesitation. 2. @14:44 "why is he pulling away from me on the straights, am I doing something wrong" - It looks like you have auto-blip on. With that on there's a sneaky small delay going up the gears. If you change it to anti-stall then you can change gears dog-box style (lift briefly to gear-up) or even better: map a pedal, paddle or button to the clutch and engage it same time as you shift.
Thanks for the tips! My starts deffo need work! And you are entirely right about the shifts, i see you watched my other video! 😁 its the weekend so more formula fun time!
I have a 4090 PC and a Quest3 as well as the PSR2 and PS5. Ultimately nothing beats the turn key nature of a console, the endless fiddling on PC takes more than half the time of gaming. It’s the difference between a tuner car and a factory special.
Do you ever run iracing without VR?
@@AnAverageSimRacer-sy9vx Yes, the graphics are super dated but I do like that every track is available.
Hello. Great video👍🏼. I have a question. Do you use Iracing via the Iracing web portal or do you use Iracing via Steam? I want to get back into Iracing. I have a cold account that has been dormant for about 6 years🤣 now I want to play Iracing again with the PSVR2 and continue using my old account. However, I don't want to transfer my Iracing account to Steam and use it via the Iracing web portal like before. I'm wondering if I can make all the settings you described in Steam if I don't use Iracing via Steam. Specifically this setting that you make between 6.42 min and 6.57 min in your video. I would be happy to receive an answer.
Hey, so you can run iracing either via steam or the iracing UI, however you need to have steam vr running as that is what runs the psvr2. I have linked me account to steam, but i can run it either with or without steam, so long as steam and steam vr is running to drive the psvr2 headset. Hope that helps
@@AnAverageSimRacer-sy9vx okay. I don't want to link iracing to Steam. But I can still make all the settings from your video in the steam VR settings menu? specifically what you do between 6.42 min and 6.57 min? I'm asking because you select the iracing start file directly there
?
Hey, well i have linked iracing through steam, however, there should be no reason that you cant do exactly as you want because you can open iracing though the UI normally and not through steam, but as you will have steam and steam VR running in order to power the psvr2, then yes you will be able to do exactly as i do at that point in the video as that is steam VR specific settings 😁
@@AnAverageSimRacer-sy9vx OK, I understand. I can link iRacing with Steam and then play iRacing either via Steam or via the iRacing web portal/app, right? If I link iRacing with Steam, can I still buy the content like vehicles and tracks and the membership via the iRacing portal or do I always have to buy everything via Steam?
That was an awful pitstop. You don't turn off optional repairs, you put in 1st and go when lolipop is taken away as that's when your pitstop stuff ended (while tire change or fueling you can't start moving). In these races, just watch fuel and rev up in 1st when it's nearly done and off you go.
Yeah it was absolutely awful i agree! Thanks for the advice! I feel i ought to have paid more attention to others doing pitstops that i have watched before! Hindsight n all that eh!
@@AnAverageSimRacer-sy9vx Yeah, I watch a lot of races on YT. Remember that you can have a normal pitstop in practice, I usually do 1-2 pit entries every track just to learn how it navigates in case of meatball
Thats a good point! Thanks! Ill add that into my prep!
At the moment GT7 is it
Wait… since when is iRacing on PS5??
It isnt, the PS5 VR headset is PC compatible now
@@AnAverageSimRacer-sy9vx what’s?!! Since when??? 👀👀👀👀
Since i think the day before i posted the vids about it! Compatible with steam VR so get the whole library of steam VR titles on pc you can use it with too
Good luck with your cannel!
Same config as you sold my ps5 bought a pc trying to set this thing up, need your help
Hey, yeah can bring tricky! check out my other videos, i went through my setup in one!
For online racing, iRacing is the best, period. You can find any race, at any time of the day, with drivers registered on it. I would love to have iRacing with GT graphics
That would be the dream for sure! Though looking at the new track updates for next season i dont think its far off at all these days graphics wise
About slowdowns, you have plenty of time to serve them, so just move off the racing line and gently lift off the throttle, just enough to make the timer start counting down. Aim is to slow down little as possible while still making sure the timer runs out just before next corner, because iRacing seems to add 1-2 tenths for every corner you go through while serving slowdown. For example on T8 slowdown, you lost huge amount of time because when the slowdown ended, you were running at 160km/h instead of 300km/h and lost additional time accelerating back up to race-speed. Hitting the brakes on corner exit and slowing that much just causes you to give up more time than necessary, while also increasing the risk of someone crashing into you.
How do you find them since the latest update? I think they are massively improved and easier to understand why they might extend now!
For recording, I personally use SteamVR's VR View with Both Eyes Right Dominant, it lets me turn off or otherwise reduce the desktop window size of games' builtin viewports, netting me a bit of extra performance while giving an excellent view of what I actually see. The dominant view modes are essentially the dominant eye with a corner of the other eye appended onto the side, it doesn't always mesh at the seam but it works really really well.
.ini file tip - if you delete the .ini file, the next time your game is opened, a new .ini with the default settings will get created - -so don’t worry about messing it up when editing
Thats a great tip thanks! I had always tried to remember to save the file but great to know there is another way thanks!
How have you only got 103 subs. Your channel is great
Hey, thanks, its new! Im consistently amazed that anyone subscribes Thanks for the support 😁
As far as finding/keeping the sweetspot, I would recommend getting the Globular Cluster CMP2 comfort mod for the headset. I understand it doesn't seem right to have to pay an additional $50(pounds?) for a VR device you spent $350-$550 on, but it's worth it to be done with the hassle of readjusting the headset. As far as clarity in GT7...come November, it will look MUCH clearer and smoother when the PS5 Pro releases. So hopefully there will be PS5 trade in deals at certain locations for those who want to upgrade. I know more money, but this is our hobby, so yeah. But once I get the PS5 Pro for my PSVR2, I won't be looking back and will enjoy the rest of the generation.
Ill look into the globular cluster.. And tbh i wasnt tracking the ps5 pro too closely! But now i am!! Great shout! … why does this hobby keep demanding so much of my cash 😭 😭 😂
Are you sure that the PS5 pro will improve the VR experience? Isn't the bottleneck currently the bandwith of the USB interconnect?
@@OneBitStream although it's Type-C, it's display port.....not similar to Meta Quest & Pico 4 headset USB connections.
Really appreciate you putting this video together. I used these settings and the improvements have blown my mind. It’s such a better experience is VR now! Thanks a million.
No worries, glad it helped! 😁

I play racing games that don't support trippels, in vr on my psvr2. And otherwise I alternate what I feel like at that moment. I don't like F1 24, and rally games that don't support trippels, at all.
I tried ACC earlier, thats decent in triples! Cant wait for AC-evo!!
