Here at Who Needs Normal I try to take a journalistic approach to discussing games from my childhood. I dive as deep as I possibly can into the stories of the developer of a game, and when possible, the development of the game itself.
The titles I cover tend to be pretty niche, like the Nickelodeon or Disney games you forgot about and now you think they were a fever dream. These were a lot of what I played growing up, and they hold a special place in my heart. I love getting to learn more about these games and companies all these years later, and share that passion with you.

The Story of Traveller's Tales | Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue
This is the story of Jon Burton and the early years of his company, Traveller’s Tales. Join me as I also take an in-depth look at their game, Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue on N64, which was a staple of my childhood. Burton went from making Amiga demos in his bedroom to working with some of the biggest properties in the industry, and his career was incredibly fascinating to research.
I dedicate this video to my grandfather, Norm Sharbaugh. I will miss you.

This is my 2nd PS2 game ever. I love anything SB & my first was Battle of Volcano Island. Thanks for this retrospective & lore! I like this game, bc its a jank ps2 game. Something different than new games & simple to play. Love it❤

Damn... Had no idea the development of this game was this rough... from shady companies making false promises, to greedy, miserly and entitled publishers. I don't envy them one bit, and looking at it now, it's a miracle either of these games managed to be released at all, knowing that, had things gone more smoothly for them, they could've perhaps worked on a more finalized vision for their game, and maybe have released a really nifty classic, discussed by fans about as often as Battle for Bikini Bottom. Really, their story is one of inspiration... And y'know, while some parts of this game definitely look pretty rough and some really weird decisions were made... it also has this strangely alluring vibe to it. The early 3D games of the PS2 and GameCube era, with a weird progression structure and odd design choices that, as a kid, only seem really interesting and curious to ya. I think I'd like to at least try this game at some point.

I always knew about the prototype, But there was a tech demo? Do we know if it's recovered or is it damaged beyond repair?
The guy who dumped this prototype was also given the CD containing the tech demo, but at the time he told me it was damaged and he had been unable to recover anything from it. There is a possibility he was lying, because he lied to me a lot and tried to screw me over, but it's likely lost. I do have screenshots at least. We are lucky he released this one publicly at all. The guy who dumped this has a horrible reputation in the games preservation community for being an information hoarder(among other things) and I tried giving him the benefit of the doubt but yeah he sucks 🙃 If me and some other people hadn't pushed him to release this build, he never would have.
