I don't think I've ever seen anyone make that many notes on Dune and still not get the point of it. If nothing else, you deserve some sort of recognition for that.

I loved this book as well, until the last chapter of the third (second?) part and the green card man part. I wasn't invested in the love story because I felt Jake was being dumb getting involved in the first place. It was giving star-crossed lovers and Rhaegar and Lyanna. Then I really was against it when Sadie left for Reno. But when they fell in love again I got so invested... everything they went through, her almost loosing half her face, him almost getting beat to death and suffering permanent brain damage...only for her to die. I was so pissed, pissed off even more when he just resets all of it. I almost threw the book away lol. Didn't even bother with the final part, I googled it. I also get the themes, and maybe one day I'll read the final part. But I need like a month😂

100% agree. I really liked the first hundred or so pages and then things just kinda stop happening and it gets super dull. I powered through the rest of the book since I did like the setting but was sorely disappointed. There were also a bunch of major plot points from early in the book that seemed like Herbert forgot about for too long and then hurriedly resolved in about a half page near the end. Completely unsatisfying.

Dune grudge post. For some reason you popped up in a dune feed and I like dune so I posted a trash comment on the dune video. That being said, you look like a bright and nice person, but a bit on the sheltered side. If you have a choice go into the administrator side and not the ground work of social work. I saw the life drain out of my mother because she was a caring person, and her personal life suffered greatly. She choice it because she did not know what else to do, though she was bright and intelligent just as you come across. The reason that bright and caring people suffer in social services is because they care, it is a field for people that don't care and can remain detached; it is the only way you don't burn out. I hope that you either find where you fit in and are not lost, or you can grow beyond its limits. Life is long and I find that people that love books what to explore, so explore.

The aspect of this book that she does not understand is alluded too in the book, even reverend mothers have a place that they cannot go that they are loathed to go, and that is the male side of the ancestors and energy, it was what makes Paul the Messiah. And clearly this lady cannot understand it is a male coming of age story as a main archetype, but covers the older deeper relationship that institutions like the nobility and church played in society until recently. Take a look at Adam Curtis the lonely Robot, and you see why none of the individualized robots can see value in literature and prefer pulp fiction.

Pet Sematary is the best start if someone wants to enter King's world!

I might be in the minority, but I loved Under the Dome from beginning to end.

At the end he learned to be grateful for where he was. That was the point. And he realized if he kept going back he'd just create a loop. So he learned to be grateful.

This book resonates with me because it helps me feel not so alone in the way my mind unconsciously and anxiously has encouraged me to live and communicate with other humans. Where we differ is when he starts using his outlook to suck others in and harm them, when they could be saved (like the girl he kicked off the rock, who had second thoughts as they were walking out there). Luckily I've come to value life over the years (currently 28). But I know exactly what Dazai is talking about, and felt how he felt. What you said, "your're worthy of love" although a fleeting statement brought tears to my eyes. Thank you. edit: and at 9:20 you convey my/our sentiments. Right on!

I think you're missing the point of the ending a little bit... He saved JFK but destroyed the world and the woman he loved. You can't save everyone's world, but you can make yours better. Why wouldn't you go back to reset/try something different? What bugs me the most about this book is the part you loved the most. It's the masturbatory, self-referential, meta-ness in the beginning. Maine has literally nothing to do with the plot or premise. The protagonist could have been from Alaska or Tennessee or one of the Dakotas and it would not have mattered in the slightest. It felt like Maine was in the story for the sole purpose of revisiting Derry. Oh look, King is referencing one of his books in one of his books. Oh look, a character I've heard of from one of his books, talking about one of the things that happened in one of his books. The Harry Dunning plot could have happened anywhere. When it happens in Derry, it just feels like King's jerking himself off all over again. Oh look, the narrator said "Beep, beep Ritchie" AND THE CROWD GOES WILD!!! Who gives af? I LOVE the premise of this book, but I hate the narrator's cringey awkward jokes and nonsense, the fourth wall breaking [in novel's character's never go potty, but *this* is real life] and I hate the fan service of going back to Derry, revisiting Bev and the gang. It's all so transparent...

I literally just bought $120 worth of Stephen King books, because I’ve been binging all of his movies and I’m obsessed with his story telling. I’ve tried reading IT and failed twice because it’s too big for me to latch onto right now so I’m reading Pet Sematary, The Shining, 11/22/63, Salem’s Lot and possibly Under the Dome before I return to IT. That’s not even all the books I bought. I’m halfway through Pet Sematary and I’m HOOKED!!! But now I’m super intrigued with the Stand and desperately want to experience that story. Help I’m addicted, I have a problem🤣🤣🥲

I've tried to read Fellowship a couple times but never got through it. This video has made me decide to try it again.

I did not finish this sadly. I was looking forward to this one greatly! It had such a strong beginning for me then it just got a little too exposition heavy. Things were a little too convenient and coincidental in how information was shared and known. I’m a new reader to Stephen King. I actually dropped this book 3/4s of the way through and went into Pet Sematary…i actually posted a video review recently and let me tell ya I LOVE kings older style of writing than his newer works. That’s just my opinion though! Love your channel!
