    Curious to know what e collar you use that allows you to so easily raise the levels. We currently use a Mini Educator and the process to up levels is a little confusing and not a quick process.

    feeding can be more complicated than you make it out to be, fasting/intermittent fasting also have counterindication study results showing in increases risk of heart problems etc. If your dog has poor digestion or digestive issues like Reflux its recommended to feed many small portions a day (not kibble tho) Also some dogs should use a harness, especially frail dogs or dogs with risk for Collapsed trachea

    Hello! I have a quick question that’s a little off topic from this video. My dog is currently in a two week training program and the trainer introduced the mini educator a few days ago. I’m worried the ecollar is far too tight, but if I loosen it, it doesn’t make contact. How it’s set now, I can’t get a finger under there and he normally coughs when I’m putting it on. Is this normal?

    I too am a leash connoisseur. My favorite leash right now is one by Kong which doubles as a running belt and has a traffic handle at the very end. This is good for my trained dog at the farmer's market because I can be hands off if needed. I think if you know how to use a retractable leash it can be good when it is okay for your dog to have a little bit more leway, but you always have to be on the lookout for problems. It is also great for my little dog who naturally walks at my heel and doesn't have any agression issues.

    I hope that lady gets Storm a dog friend ..... another dog in the home. It looks/sounds like he need more dog interaction time.... I did that for my energetic pup (at the time). He just needed another dog to have around/play with/'communicate' with on a daily basis!

    We have a couple of leashes and leash colors for different things.

  • @BadHairdayKimmie
    @BadHairdayKimmie 5 дней назад

    Leash style and type is absolutely a personal preference. Even for the same dog I have three different leashes: 6' harness leather, 4' slip lead, and a super classy 10'-12' really thin piece of rope. I love the feel of the leather for every day walking and I have no problem adjusting for the extra length when he is heeling, but I can see where some people would have a problem making that adjustment. The slip for going into the ring at agility trials where the dog has to be totally naked to run but the dog needs to be on a leash outside of the ring. And the long rope also for agility trials because I never know what I'll be able to tie to or what the warm up area will be like. The traffic loop is great for the bigger dogs but a very poor option for those of us with shorter dogs. People who have dogs that pull always want the thickest leash possible because they are afraid their dog is going to break the leash... or they might need to tow a car. And I agree that retractable leashes are horrible. I think they encourage dogs to pull and some of the dog fights I've seen were made worse because the retractable leashes made it difficult to gain control of the dogs. People who use retractable leashes very rarely are watching their dogs.

    My schnoodle is hugely social (he's now 3 and a half)..... but I have issues on our walks with some dogs (unknown) - he can be 'saying hello' when he suddenly does the growl and snap.... other items, even if we are across the road, he will bark aggressively and pull towards the dog (and then my other dog - a cavoodle - does the same thing). It is hard to 'control' two dogs at once. I try and 'catch' them both with food treats - as a distraction - before they 'engage'! Sometimes it works!

    Thank you so much for this video it has really helped me. I have a 53 lb English shepherd who does well with basic obedience but can be highly reactive to other dogs, deer, motorcycles And when riding in the car will try to attack the windshield wipers if we run them. Do you think the mini educator would work or do you think we would need et-800? Also, if we get the mini educator is it pretty easy to add that second receiver on to the the same remote? Does the remote function the same way even when adding a second receiver? Thanks again!

    I'm sorry but I don't like E collars. They can be used for all the wrong reasons and I've seen the damage E collars have done to a dog's neck. I've seen dog owners abuse the use of those collars. Same with the Prong collars. I've seen what happens in the wrong hands. There are other ways to train your dog without causing it pain. I have what is called a Pet Gentle. It uses a frequency that only a dog can hear. It has worked wonders for my dog. I just don't like items that are used on dogs that can be used against them by abuse from their owners. There is never going to be a way to keep people like that from owning a pet. But if we ban the items that they use to abuse their pets, we might be able to help those pets a lot easier. I just wish that we could ban bad owners!! I have an American Staffordshire and Pitbull mix. She can be a little bullheaded and a little stubborn. She is also very active and tends to get sidetracked easily. This is the reason why I got the Pet Gentle. 30 commands. She also likes to show off the tricks that she's learned to her friends. LOL! I've had her since she was 10 weeks old, she is now 7 years old. I couldn't use her as a service dog but she is a registered esa and she works just fine for me. That's all I need for now. But the one thing that amazes me the most about her is how amazingly smart she is. I am so totally blown away about this breed. ❤❤❤ Her intelligence is the reason why I named her Tesla.

    Hey, got your channel randomly suggested. Quality content and nice insight in your training style and method. I was wondering how would you deal with a hypersocial dog that fixates or stalks on other dogs mostly coming in the opposing direction? Leash pops seems to fire him up

    • @doggettstyledogtraining
      @doggettstyledogtraining 18 дней назад

      Hey thanks so much! What kind of dog? Do they have something they can fixate on more? For Example: if it's a Border Collie, GSD, or Terrier, SOMETIMES their ball drive is stronger than their social drive and you can tempt them with the reward long enough to get past the other dog. Sometimes when the dog is young and crazy the best thing to do is walk them over to the side and work on a sit or down. Sometimes Ecollar is better or air can works as a corrective. Leash pop often will over stimulate as it's not the right Type of pressure and leads to more agitation. You can always book a behaviour consult here for us to go over it in-depth. Espically if you have video of the behaviour. Here's a link: api.leadconnectorhq.com/widget/bookings/behaviourconsult1x

      @@doggettstyledogtraining thank you for replying. I have a 2 year old intact labrador probably mixed with a collie. His food drive is very high but i have to pull out a serious reward to break off his attention when fixating. When he goes in stalking mode inside turns somewhat break him of but he counters them. What i found some success with that also lowered his reactivity is if i apply directional pressure to the side and recall him or if we are passing by to reward him verbally when he is still moving but still half focusing on the other dog ( i know its not 100% correct but i find this is the first step to bridge the gap)

    I wish my dog were only leash reactive. She gets super aggressive to other dogs on or off leash. Neutral ground or not. Her threshold is 6 blocks. The other dog doesn't even have to notice her. It can be a large dog, or small dog. Old dog or young she is even worse of it's a female dog. She used to be able to happily rode in the back of the car...see a dog alongside the road look at it with interest or ignore it. But didn't reacte. Within the past 3 weeks, we can be driving down the road 60mph...and if she sees a dog anywhere in a yard, on the edge of a yard, in the back of a truck....she gets so agggressive..she does the huge GSD angry bark slams herself into the closed window....like cujo ..spittle flying.etc. Its getting to where I don't even want to take her anywhere in the car now. Her reactivity is so bad that when she is on leash she pulls and lunges 10x worse than if if sees a squirrel. I have her on a nylon martingale collar. Ive tried a slip lead....she has figured how to get out of it when she gets crazy. And yes.she was spayed. She is a purebred showline Gsd...she came from a hoarding situation where she had puppies at around a year old. :( After her puppies were sold, she and her sister began fighting...they were the two youngest dogs in the house. She suffered a torn cornea in her left eye. The shelter coaxed the hoarders to give her and her sister up. With people she is super sweet. Has great house manners. Does not resource guard. Gets along with the 8year old cat. If I take her deep into the woods, and walk in abandoned logging roads..off leash she stays near me , is relaxed, and enjoys the walk. But anywhere else....her head is on a swivel. She walks tense, ready to fight when she is not trying to sniff things.
