Speaking of out of sequence movies I supported Stuart Ashen's horror movie "Turn Back: a horror movie told in reverse". I should get my Blu-ray in about 2 months. I also heard yesterday that red letter media is starting a paranormal investigation series and are supposedly trying to be more level headed but I doubt they'll compared to the RMPRS. But checking it out could be a good video that might get a ton of views!

I did find 13(ish) typos this time, here are my notes [text "correction" (page number)] As "you" can (21) Causes "cases" (43) Simply"simple" (164) 1920 "1920s" (180) torn town "torn down" (180) spirt before "spirit before" (181) monitory "monitor (199) magick "magic" (256) liked "like" (354) lor "lot" (362) Have to the "have the" (367) turned of. "turned off." (371) There is one more where it said 'interatuon' instead of "international", but that as well as the 'magick' may have been intentional. I did report those on kindle as content errors and would like to know if you were notified of that bc I do that for a lot of books and wonder if it is helpful, annoying/detremebtal, or pointless? If you don't mind giving me a tiny peek behind the curtain of course. And I'll also stop typo sniping if you want, just ask.

@@Phobophile If I had to choose the cats in the freezer/ autodefenestrating dogs and invisible jellyfish monsters were my favs. I enjoyed the essays too. The flash paper part was cool to know, I knew the same processes were used for smokeless powder and certain kinds of rocket propellant but didn't connect the dots with flashpaper. My grandfather listened to Peter Boyles for decades and there is a high probability I heard some of your stuff on his shows, he also listened to Art Bell but not as much. I enjoyed the whole thing but I will say vol 1 was personally spookier for me, this one didn't quite give me the heebie-jeebies but was more interesting on the historical and scientific fronts. One question I have is I reported 13 typos on the kindle version and wonder if you were informed? I do that for a lot of kindle books and would like to know what effect if any that has on your end. I finally watched this a couple of weeks ago after knowing about it for decades, and it surpassed my expectations. It's not a "good" movie in the purest sense, in fact it's a mess (and ohhhh boy, those dubbed performances. Sorta blunts the trauma when the acting is that bad), but it accomplished what it needed to perfectly. You just want to jump through the screen and strangle Ishii after every scene, especially knowing how little consequence there was for the real Ishii. It's required viewing for anyone interested in the actual depths of WWII and humanity in general. Sometimes text just doesn't do injustice, well, justice. I hear that the fourth movie is equally as well done in portraying the Nanking atrocity, but I need time to reset before going into that one. Given what I know about Nanking, that could be a rough, rough watch indeed.

My july was almost entirety historical fiction (11/12). Detween Two Fires by Christopher Buehlman took place in 1347 during the black death, it was good but I hear his newer work is better. Karmilla by Luna Fury takes place in 1864, it's a filthy retelling of my fav classic vampire book Carmilla by Joseph Sheridan leFanu. There was one plot twist I was anticipating that didn't happen :/, but I got what I was hoping for otherwise! (realeased July 14th) The Familiars by Stacy Halls is the only other horror adjacent one, it took place in 1612 during real witch trials, it started good but unraveled at the end. ‐Wolf Winter by Cecilia Ekbäck ‐The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey ‐The Final Toll by Denise Domning had a few horror elements. I'd like to hear more about the non horror books, most book channels I wach are light on the horror but they give it it's due when it comes up.
