Calvisions

Добавлен 11 июн 2015
Calvisions is a full-service video production company established in 2014. Despite being founded in 2014, the company has roots dating all the way back to 1979 when Alan and a few friends bought equipment from a cable company to start producing music videos. One thing led to another and soon enough Alan grew City Video into one of the premier video production companies in the Chicagoland area. As Alan was growing the business, his son, Cory, began to show signs of a love for the industry. This love-fueled Cory to grow as a videographer. Alan, after being out of the industry for a few years, took notice of Cory’s skillset and ambition and decided to launch Calvisions with him. What started as a simple idea has now grown into a leading company in the Chicagoland area.
Now that we got that out of the way, let’s help you create your vision!

How to achieve the Infinite Black Background
So you are using the two lights you mentioned ..ot just the big one to your right? Sorry confused. Thanks for video. Looks very cool. Very Charlie Rose !
Thnx
hahaha
❤
The fact, that you, brother, have so great videos quality, but so low on subs and views is completely unjust. Wish you a best luck, you deserve much bigger results!
Thanks, that was awesome to read greatly appreciate it!
Have you tried using the camera that is recording you? I feel like it's more convenient than rescheduling.
....Oh man I really wish I thought of this in the moment haha
How about a DC Coupler?
Seems a rather too normal to me😂
But... Why?
Why not?
I am trying to create this effect but it is being ruined by youtube's compression. I noticed that the shots with you against the bg are very clean. I am getting a lot of artifacts like the shot at 1:22 with the ladder. Do you have any tips on how to minimize compression artifacts? Thanks.
Are you seeing any of that artifacting in your editing software? If so you may be pushing your curves/shadows/blacks down to much. If not something else that might help is in Premiere or whichever editing software you're using increase your bitrate setting. That's helped me in the past
@@calvisionsproductions3753 There are no artifacts in the editing software. It's all youtube compression. I actually tried lifting the blacks because I was getting less noise than leaving them alone. I did some tests where I overexposed to reduce noise. Then I crunched the blacks and it seems to be giving me better results now.
@@calvisionsproductions3753 Not seeing anything in the NLE. I lifted the blacks which seemed to help but it was too hard to control and changed the look too much. I decided to reshoot, slightly over exposing and then crunching the blacks. The results have been better.
Very valuable.. Thankyou
How many cm is this your reflector
great job! exactly what i needed, thx bro
Great video ❤
Great work... lot of hard work to give this information... Kudos! Thanks What's the dimension of Neewer softbox here?
Thanks! The Neewer softbox, the smaller one is 17.7x11.8
Creative but… not really a tiny room but a larger room with lights all in close. If you put some v-flats or hung some bed sheets on c-stands or background stands on three sides you would have a true simulation of a tiny room and a better exercise on problem solving. And use white since more often than not walls tend to be lighter in color. Then you could have a go at trying to control all that bounced flat lighting. No walls is kinda cheating. Unless you were assuming your small space would have black walls.
........Well...with the power of hindsight am I right?
Good stuff.. But don't forget to bounce light instead of a soft box.. I have a few projector mounts and use them to blast light into a very specific area to bounce the light and get a larger (therefore softer) light. I bounce it into a bounce card or white ceiling or wall - whatever is available. I also keep mirrors with me just in case!. The focus thing - that's why I love my Sony A7Siii! I love that you posted it even though there are parts out of focus - if you wait until it's perfect you'll never post anything! Keep up the great work! Sub'ed
Mirrors, that's something I never really thought about using. That's something I'll have to try sometime.
RUclips is weird. How do you only have 500 subscribers and not 1 million views? Great job.
I don't even have 500 subscribers haha
Nice video. very educational but half od it out of focus? I think. But Subscribed. Looking forward for more
Thanks! Yeah I didn't review to make sure after a take until I was in editing. Thought it'll be fine if I make one joke about it haha
Half video out of focus. That’s why I don’t trust Panasonic cameras. Overall, great content!!!
Looks like he used manual focus on m43 ... even manual is better the AF there :D. But S5II series have great AF.
@@JoATTech I used the S5IIx in the opening shot which lost me a bit. I didn't double check the footage until I was in ediitng and thought to myself "will anyone notice, because they'll be learning so much and laughing cause I'm naturally hilarious." haha
@@calvisionsproductions3753 I bet you used the oldest firmware. With the newest one it's impossible for AF to loose the person ;).
love it! No BS, very informative, no over-edited with visuals/creatives, key problem explained and solved! thank you! now time to shop for all the light gear lol

bro make detailed video showcasing expensive as well as cheap setups, lightening setups for youtube videos (vlogging, podcasts, teaching,) #benefactor
Why didn't you just show us how to do it? And if there was any editing in post.
Which lights would you recommend for a 2 person video podcast?
What if I want to do black? Can I just follow all of these tips with just a black cloth?
Please help me make a video like that please
WASTE OF 3 MINUTES OF YOUR LIFE
Waste of 2 minutes and 40 seconds actually 😒
what a helpfull video keep going thx
This is great. I definitely want to try this for the podcast I’m starting. It’s so simplistic and minimalist but when done right you can’t go wrong. It just looks classy. Can I hire you to consult on how to best build this in my space?
May I ask why you are starting a podcast? What is it about ? Everyone has one nowadays…..
What I have generally seen people do for live type settings is to sit in front of a white wall or a purpose built setup with a curved bottom (so no corner) and then just over light the background so it overexposes relative to your subject. This works if you can put a bit more space between you and the background but it doesn't work if there are significant shadows in there, like a loosely hung cloth.
Really helpful, thanks! Been thinking of using a white background for some music videos here soon.
That's what I'm here for haha. Let me know if you end up using the white background for your music video, would love to check it out!
Loving your channel man! You will blow up 👍🏻
I don't always throw around my camera but when i do...
There's a spider and it's the only thing I can use to defend myself
Hey man! Great stuff! Let's work together again soon! Cheers!
how do you only have 100 subs? This is so helpful
As of today, 115 haha. I appreciate it glad it was helpful!
This was very helpful, thanks
I try haha
