Why I Chose to Dedicate This Composition to Kirill Pokrovsky (Long Version): Fair warning, I’m about to ramble aimlessly about why this man’s music is so important to me and I have no idea if my thoughts will make any sense, bear with me! I’ve always loved Kirill Pokrovsky’s music, and from the moment I started playing Divinity” Original Sin" I FELL in love with the charming, whimsical quality of the Soundtrack. I can’t quite explain why, but Kirill’s music just connects with me in an incredibly deep and heartwarming way. When I listen to Kirill’s music my experience goes beyond just mere enjoyment or pleasure, it feels as if I’m returning to a long-awaited home or visiting a beloved old friend. His music is incredibly genuine and unique, I promise you there isn’t anything quite like his music in the entire world. I can’t explain how I know, but I can just tell that when Kirill wrote music, he wasn’t writing for the sake of financial gain, outside approval, or recognition, he was writing from his heart and with a desire to have some positive impact on the listener. I also feel that Kirill was a composer who never restricted himself with standard conventions, trends, or with the opinions of others, he wrote purely from a place of imagination, curiosity, and wonder, traits that I believe are being slowly destroyed in today’s world. For lack of a better way to phrase my feelings, I feel like Kirill’s music has entered straight into my heart and connected with my inner child, and as a result, I feel personally connected with Kirill even though I’ve never actually met him in real life. Going beyond his music, it just seems to me that he was an incredibly good person who had the utmost respect, care, and love for the people around him. One of the things that makes me happiest in life is seeing incredible artists and creators who also display great character and have a positive impact on the world around them, and Kirill has made me very happy in that regard. I believe that kind people deserve to be rewarded, cherished and remembered, and this Composition + Video is part of my effort to uphold that belief.
