Not everyone has a choice whether to stay or go, but I did. 38 years ago, a nightblind 80y/o hit me & my motorcycle head-on, with 80+mph combined impact, with his Cadillac. I never lost consciousness and was laying face up in the gravel on the side of the road, bleeding out with multiple left leg compound fractures. It was a clear star filled night and I felt like I was getting ready to launch into the stars like a rocket. A distinct impression came to my mind that "I had a decision to make". I understood that was between life and death. Immediately I answered that "I couldn't depend on my children's mother to raise them correctly". Pretty much every day of these 38 years proved me absolutely correct. I could have saved myself a lot of grief and pain had I chosen otherwise. Unlike most mistakes, I don't intend on making that one a second time.

I don’t believe the full story was included. He didn’t go to prison for simply making false statements. He didn’t mention assaulting a jail officer or about his prior criminal charges in the 2000s. I wouldn’t say this is transparency.

The Laga Family was also our neighbors and we joined in prayer for successful searching for Kaden. Members of our family were preparing to go into that vast wilderness and assist in the search. Being very familiar with the layout of the Wilderness to the West of our Valley I had great concern for the searchers that would be involved in not only flying into the search area but also in conducting the search. I was hoping that in the message presented by the family they would have expressed the horrific fear they felt about Kaden and his whereabouts and his safety and relate it to what they could have done to prevent this incident from happening in the first place. That would help other families to avoid this horror or worse. This could have easily turned out differently. Simple precautions could have been taken to avoid the danger to others and the hundreds of hours spent by many searchers looking for Kaden. A simple and inexpensive GMRS radio system carried by all the party members could have prevented it. Following common sense rules about leaving the camp or the main party would have prevented it. A satelite radio system like In-Reach or Spot could have prevented the danger to others. These things are not expensive when considering the cost of the search and the danger to them. Radios and Satelite radios were purchased by the family for the searchers to use AFTER Kaden disappeared out of concern for the safety of the searchers and to increase the communications ability in order to find Kaden. We are all so happy that Kaden was found safely. God is good. But if we don't learn lessons from the experience of this family then we may have missed the mark. Kaden's mother could tell you of the hell she went through after the mesage got to her about his dissappearance. She could also tell about the many hours and days spent organizing the searchers and all the fretting and crying and worrying that accompanied this experience. If anyone can warn us about this and give us clues about how families and individualts can prevent this from happening to them, Kaden's mother can. This is not written out of hate but an opportunity to help prevent others from going through what this family went through. Something good could come from this experience and preventing others from going through it would be the ultimate good.

With reference to the father buying alcohol at dinner, I would clarify my beliefs, which should also be respected hopefully, not to purchase the alcohol because that is his personal standard. Letting his daughter drink with him at dinner may be enough. Because now you are looking at buying alcohol whenever they visit and having it on hand for them. That is not fair to the father in this scenario. The child should respect him enough not to drink in front of him.

One type of meditation is to focus on only one thing, so here's a simple technique. Get comfortable, close your eyes, and focus solely on your breath. Go slowly. Just hear and feel your breath coming up from deep down inside (not just from your chest) and then let it go out your nose. Start with five minutes and work up to whatever seems good for you. When your mind starts to drift, just calmly bring it back to your breath. This is a great way to give your mind and body a break. It's also a personal, portable, battery charger, so use it when you need to relax and regroup during the day. Even a few minutes can help!

Satan keeps victims and abusers bound behind closed doors. Abusers who lack self worth will say anything to protect their "image" and project their own perceived faults through pathological lies (faults selves) from the small world they have to interact with outside the "home." People at church are not decerning. People at church refuse to recognize or/and don't know how to recognize or acknowledge abuse, covert or otherwise. Church members don't know what to do with it. Strangely they become flying monkeys, taking the abusers side, thus creating more trauma for the abused and the children in the family. It's a miracle if church members and church leadership are decerning, believe the victim, and actually help the victim through or out of the abuse. If church members do it with love and caution both sides can be blessed but a majority of the time the victims have more oppression piled on them from flying monkey church members and feel they have to live in isolation until deliverance if it comes. The stress converts into physical issues as the victim(s) age compounding the burden on the victim until something gives somewhere. The ACES study proves God's doctrine of walking the straight and narrow path, with our families. But abuse and agency enter in as mists of darkness drawing family members away from safety, creating havoc and isolation for the family. The battle is real for many members. Her experience was real, deliverance was sweet. Now her husband can be reparented on the otherside of the veil and repent and she has relief here. I have to say that feelings of "love" are actually trauma bonds from childhood. True love is kind, authentic, reciprocal, and communicative. When we perceive we are "deeply in love" with someone who is abusive we likely aren't in love with that person. Satan uses past abuse, experience, and pain to trigger "perceptions of love" that isn't really love. Its just a trauma bond from the past that Satan uses to entangle victims with abusers. Crazy cycle of life.

I finished listening to this podcast some time ago. I'm sitting here with tons of thoughts flooding my mind. I feel there is too much to share to really share my experience, however here is my attempt at being brief. My first husband of 26 years was excommunicated while in his extreme adult youth. The shame and humiliation that comes with that for sure effected my marriage. Like links to a chain, it seems, our actions are connected. Actions have rippling affects to all in the path of it's ripple. I met my husband about 7 years after he was excommunicated. He was rebaptised a month before we got married. He was a good man with a weak testimony. Shortly after we were married, I could see, feel, recognize there was something "off" in my marriage, but I did not know what it was or how to define it. 5 children and 21 years into my marriage, I reached my braking point. I couldn't handle being married to him. I went from loving him with all my heart to quite literally HATING every fiber to his humanness. I was desperate for answers. I knew how I felt, but I could not define it or give it a name. I started down a very lonely journey of emptiness. I dove into books, desperate for answers. I knew I could not end my marriage until I understood what happened. I read over 30 books. By the time my marriage and journey ended, I went to 5 different counselors, 3 different bishops, two Stake Presidents. Ultimately, I believe my ex-husband was (is) an introverted narcissist. Most narcissism starts as a child. He shared with me that he never felt loved from the age of 4. He had really good parent's that somehow missed showing and expressing that very important act of love. So when he went on his mission, he fell into temptation that sent him home with shame. I do not believe he was a full on narcissist when we were first married, but because he could never shake that humiliation of shame, his lack of feeling love from his parent's which ultimately turned into no self love. No matter how much I loved him, because he had no self love, no matter what I did in the act of love, it was NEVER enough. He did not know how to accept love or show love. My marriage to him turned into a very covert type of mental abuse. And just like that chain that I previously mentioned, where all acts are connected, I felt complete rejection from him in every possible way. Satan was a part of this and knew my weakness. And although I did not make or do anything to get excommunicated, I completely and fully felt set up by Satan. He knew my weekness of feeling completely rejected and unloved by my husband. I had a friendship that could have gone very badly for me. I'm certain I had angels working overtime to protect me. To end, I felt completely alone in this journey of finding my way out of this marriage. One does not just end a temple marriage. By the time I reached critical mass where bishops became involved, my marriage was far gone, yet because they are not counselors and their responsibility is to help keep marriages together, prolonged pain was created. Ultimately, after going through what I went through, I completely understand why we as church members and leaders do not focus on the negative, but there needs to be at least a crash corse on this ultimate "lack of feeling love, showing love, and recognizing when there is a lack of love". I wonder? Does a lack of love in all its forms lead to all forms of sin? This chain, this rippling affect of a lack of love has foever changed the lives of my five children, their spouses, their children, my life and the life of my current husband as well as his children. What saved me? Knowing from my young childhood that I am forever loved by my Heavenly Father, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. Sorry so long. Hard to cram half a century into a short story. More awareness for our church leader please. Lack of love and shame go hand in hand. More love please. One more point; there are many angles to a story. Different perspectives and experiences will change your view point. I had extreme resentment that I had to work through. With this experience, I have a tremendous amount of empathy for those who put themselves into these compromising positions. With Satan working against them, he will stike you at your weekest moments no mater how good of a person you are.

Vinney. I would love an insight on this issue I have. For a few months I was praying to have a feeling of love from Heavenly Father so talked about by many… where they feel enveloped in joy and light and having an overwhelming knowledge that He loves them deeply. I was at the temple with my husband and I looked over at him across the aisle and a voice said to my mind…. You won’t even let his love in, and he’s tangibly in front of you…. how can you expect to feel anything from an unseen being” This hit me like a ton of bricks…. I had struggled with many things in life and one of them was depression. I had to “learn” how to love as that part of my mind was completely dark. It took yrs but I remember the day I finally had a brake through and fell hopelessly in love with my husband…. Now… as I stared at him sitting there I realized I don’t know “how to BE loved” I reject everything. He calls me gorgeous… I roll my eyes and in the back of my mind have thoughts like “no, I’m just one in a billion people. You could say that about anyone” this type of response is actually an automatic truth gage. Because what he is saying actually can’t be truth in my mind. I feel I am pretty… not gorgeous. And that’s enough for me… but he’s always so frustrated that I won’t accept the way he chooses to show his love. Anyways… I have been struggling with this thought for months now as I look at my life I realize my mom feels that too… and probably my children🥺 “I don’t know how to BE loved” or I don’t know how to accept it. I can absolutely give it… my heart is always giving endlessly as I am full of loving people….but for some odd reason I can’t accept it.😅 So I was just wondering if you have any insights for Being loved. Allowing someone to love you…. Cause I feel like I have even put up a barrier between Gods love for me and Him😬 I want to change that… but I haven’t figured out how. 😔

Shane. Through all of this did God ever tell you the only way home is through the lds church the temple and the prophet. I am really struggling with doubt. My doubts are concerning Brigham Young and every president since the. They have all lied to us and have covered up so much of real church history that i cannot acept them as real prophets called by God. I dont believe in the temple starting with Brigham. The Book of Mormom tells us the way back home is very simple. Repent be baptized and follow Christ. No special hugs and hand shakes or tokens. I feel the only thig special about the lds church is the Book of Mormon and that is for all people not just the lds.

This was a great interview. Vinney is a good friend. His story is very motivating and inspiring. He motivated me to write my two books. Now, my first book is being made into a movie. Thanks, Vinney Tolman, for motivating me.
