I love Southern cooking and sharing my love of home organization with others! Meal planning, time management, budgeting, and pantry organization are my loves also but my main joy in life is knowing and serving God!
I want this channel to be a help to others who don't know how to make a certain dish or who feel intimidated by organization or cooking. Come learn about southern dishes like biscuits, gravy, or how to organize your pantry!

Trying to learn canning. I like pressure canning the best. We had a Hurricane this year and then a power surge which knocked the power out again. The garage never came back on and we post all our meat. The veggies are ok so I’m canning them tonight. The electrician wont be here for 5 more days!!!!

Mrs. Joan, thank you for the video. Do you think it tastes better from canned or frozen? Mine will be producing soon!
@@matthewmaclellan_ Both are great. Since I started canning for frying they like canned over freezing. And we have food that's shelf stable, no electricity needed to keep them. Try a small batch both ways and let me know what you think!

@@matthewmaclellan_ I try my best to answer all questions.
Is it necessary to cook the tomatoes before you water bath or can you cut them up and just water bath?
@@1475evans I haven't tried it, but some people cold pack them after the skins are off and water bath them. Quarts 85 minutes.

@@lesliereed1969 Hope they turn out great!
@@AtHomewithMrsJoan My jars are pinging now, but I did notice that one of my jars has liquid at the top and the black eyed peas are separated from the liquid clustered together… Some of my beans are floating in a few of my other jars. I debubbled. What could I have done better? I want to do another batch tomorrow.
@@lesliereed1969 If jars are cool, now shake them softly to see if water moves in with your beans. If sealed tight, they are fine. Before canning if you notice a few beans floating in water you can dip them out, it's just an older bean. Not a problem if left in. Let me know how second batch does.
@@AtHomewithMrsJoan Everything turned out great! Ty
@@lesliereed1969 Wonderful news!!!
I have canned beans various ways and they all seem to soak up most of the liquid over time, my dry beans done this way were great for a while but then soaked up the water - I did a bit less head space on those as well. This last batch I did the "right" way but have only been on the shelf a couple of weeks, am keeping an eye on the fluid level in those just to see but the beans thus far look like they held together well but the true test is when I use them LOL.
@@renaesutton3145 I understand. We've got to be a scientist/chemist it feels like. But whether they soak up some juice or not they are 100 times better than bought cans. Us canners will keep on trying.

What kind of pears are good for making pear preserves?
I don't know name of ones given to me. I just glady take them.
Making this tonight with chicken and green beans!
Sounds like a great meal!
Thank you for this informative video. So good to know one can waterbath squash. None of the canning books says so. Can one also pressure can them using the same recioe? Im a beginner first time canner and a little nervabout waterbathing. I guess the vinegar increases the acidity. But why do they not recommend it? Thank you for your video its very informative and You are Fun.❤
I know the canning books say not to. You can pressure can squash for stewed squash, use in casseroles...anything that you want very soft squash for. This method is for frying them. This recipe goes back before Pressure Canning. I believe the vinegar helps and sugar helps preserve them. Look up Amish canning, they pressure can everything.
I love you spirit; the good Lord has truly helped you through this. Thank you for sharing this. I won't have help as my sister who passed away a year ago would have been my help. I'll trust in the LORD and I will get through mine when the time comes. God bless.

Hi Mrs. Jones, my name is Tammie. I am from Blackshear,Ga. I watched your first video on Saturday and today, I watched your 1 year video. I enjoyed them so much. I have been dealing with knee pain over 5 years. Finally I have made up my mind that it's time to take care of Tammie. The first time I thought of doing knee surgery April 2021 , my husband had a stroke so I put it off. Then in 2022 I put in to do it again then my son had burnt both of his feet from a steam mop. So I am scheduled once again August 27th of this year to do it. I pray that the Lord will allow me to go through it and be as successful as you have been. I know you said that you can't compare someone else's healing like your own. But you sure have given me hope and I know if I continue to trust in God that he will see me through. I am only concern with having this spine stimulator in my back and if they will give me a nerve block as well. Did you have to have a nerve block ? I Thank you Mrs. Jones you have encouraged me to know I too can do this with God's help and yours. Thank you.
I had some type of block in my knee. It worked well. After reading your story I feel confident you'll make the right decision as you place your complete faith in the good Lord. I'll be praying for you and let us know how you do.
