    Thank you so much for this video, very helpful! Im using Ableton live 11 and cannot get my RC600 to work. In the preferences it comes up with error messages under Driver type, audio input device, and channel config. Ive downloaded the driver off the boss website for Mac os 14. In my mac system settings the audio is coming through loud and clear. Ive configured the pedal basically the same as the output settings shown in this video. But in Ableton it doesn't want a bar of it. Any help/wisdom would be greatly appreciated! have a great day!

    in ableton, none of the routing works, chose asio as driver, rc 600 as input and output device, activated all the input and output ports of rc 600 in config. No matter which port I chose in the audio track ext in and ext out, the track records all the instruments and uses main output to throw sound out.

    Hey! Thank you for this amazing video. I have a question I'm having difficulty routing the output. Can you give a bit more info on how you do it? I have a PA system I use that is usually connected on the Main (mono) of the RC 600. Since the main is noe used for the mic, only that comes from there. I would Ideally like to have audio out directly from the program ( Cubase pro) to the PA. I tried using the inst2 for that but doesn't seem to work. I can use the headphones as an out for getting all of the sounds live, but if I want to mix/ edit afterwards I need to switch drives and connect the PA through bluetooth to the laptop. Do you have any suggestions?

    On my 300, Instead of setting 2 tracks to Auto I set 2 tracks at 1 measure and one track on Free… I start with the simple rhythm and then play my chords on the free track for 4 to 8 measures. I wonder if this would allow the free track to actually be free on the 600? I’ve been considering upgrading to the 600.. so this workflow is somewhat important to me. Thanks for the useful video

    Hey french boy lost around here, got the driver and all working, but i'm lost with the routing on my DAW (I use Ableton), was wondering if you had time to help out because there's not that much ressources around. Goal is to be able to have a Guitar -> amp -> RC 600, a drum module in mono, and being able to record VST piano to the RC 600 so it can be recorded on a loop. Just a question for anyone that might know - I managed to get this setup working in Logic Pro (which I'm super stoked about!) but I've notice that the volume level of the tracks that arrives at the computer via usb is substantially lower than what goes out of the main outputs or the headphone output on the RC600. Does anyone know about the quality of raw audio that gets sent via USB vs the quality of the audio when listening through a preamp? Even though this works I'm still tempted to invest in a 6 channel interface so that I can gain in each track in nicely on the interface. Or should this not make much/any difference?

    Hiya, I've ben trying to do this, and gave up. I'm using the VE8 for harmonies and the few vocal loops I do, and that goes straight to the mixer, and that's all good. I did want to use the delay/chorus on the VE and free up the RC effects for other things, such as dist, boost, etc, etc. However, the noise! The sound coming from the VE8 into the RC600 is so damn hissy and scratchy and so I've just bypassed that completely. I do have a Stymon Big Sky in that chain - Ve8>BigSky>RC600. Noisy even when the BigSky is bypassed. Any clues????

    • @NickleRock
      @NickleRock Год назад

      Hey there. Thanks for the comment! Nouse and hiss is such a difficult thing to troubleshoot. Mine is pretty quiet, but i only put the guitar into the VE-8 and then into the RC-600, so there's so much less to go wrong. I also use the VE-8 for delay and reverb to free up slots on the RC.

    • @aelvenharpweddings8397
      @aelvenharpweddings8397 Год назад

      @@NickleRock Yeah, I've tired several different routing options, leaving out the Big Sky, putting it back in, swapping between XLRs and Jacks, messing around with the noise suppression, but nothing works. Such as shame as on it's own the VE8 has a great simple delay and chorus which is very usable. Hey ho! It might be something to do with the particular set up of my electric harp, and the pick ups which sits where each of my 33 strings meets the "sound board"! It's fairly niche as a set-up!

    @dennisjohnson6524 Год назад

    Nick, You totally saved me on this subject. I do it a bit differently in ForScore than you do (I don’t have a midi controller btw). BB dictates to have 2 lines of hex code for setting tempo, 1 for CC126 and 1 for CC127. There are a couple of examples of what to do right inside BB. For a tune with a tempo of say 100 bpm, the first line of hexcode is B2 6A 00 (my BB is Ch 3 btw) and the second line is B2 6B 64. The examples in BB say to enter the actual bpm at the end of the hexcode, but you have to convert the bpm to hex (100 bpm = 64 hexcode). Works like a dream, it’s mind blowing, esp since I had given up trying to make this work. Until I saw your video, I had no clue about hexcode and how you can easily convert it to what ForScore needs. Now my Forscore is setting the tempo, setting the drum style and setting the tones on The Helix LT. It’s pure magic!!! The next step is figure out how to send a Midi out from BB to Forscore to get Autoscroll working. Thanks so much. Dennis in Vancouver, BC.

    Hey Nick thanks a lot for the video! clarified many doubts. Now the problem I have is that the output comes from the sound of the daw (pc) and the sound of the guitar passing through the pedalboard as if it had no USB. For example: if I use the guitar rig for effects, the sound I hear is the guitar without the effect and the guitar after the plugin effect. Both at the same time. Do you know what it could be? I highly recommend using the original asio4all driver, not the boss rc600 driver. It uses smaller kernel buffer so you can go <10ms easily. On top of that if your device crashes or disconnects because you stepped on a cable or whatever, it will automatically reconnect via asio4all while the native driver will force you to reload (reselect) the device in your daw (at least in mine- I use Studio One)

    Hi, the looper is always last in the chain obviously, but where would you put the VE-8 if you have other pedals? I have a harmoniser, big muff and echo that I use outside of the ve-8 effects, (I tend to use the ve-8 vocal effects and guitar presence) any recommendations?

    • @NickleRock
      @NickleRock Год назад

      In that case I would see the VE-8 as two seperate pedals. One for the vocals and one for the guitar. Also see it as two different chains then. If you do not use the ve-8 vocal harmonizer, you can experiment around with your order. If you DO use the VE-8 harmonizer, the acoustic guitar should go straight to the VE-8, so that it can 'hear' the chords more accurately for the harmony.

      These are MOOER candy footswitch toppers. You should be able to get them at your local music shop.

    Hi Nick, thanks for this video! I used your technique to try to turn the RC600 into an 8x8, but to all intents and purposes, it seems like only 7 'true' outputs are possible. It seems that headphone stereo output cannot be delinked on the device, unlike main output and Sub1 and Sub2, which can be delinked. (When I click ‘menu’, ‘output’, ‘setup’, I can delink the main output,Sub1, and Sub2, but I can’t do the same for phones.) So, I can get tracks 1-6 all outputting individually in my DAW using input 1-6. However, whatever I choose to put through the phones (I’m doing guitar and microphone), comes out of input 7 and 8 in my DAW. Which basically means, I only really have 7 outputs, not 8, because 7 & 8 are identical. Curious to know if you are aware of any solutions? And also looking forward to more RC600 related videos from you :) All the best, cheers.

      Thanks for the comment. In digital audio applications the guys talk about stereo as two channels as well, so from that pov. it is a 8x8 channel, but I agree that one can essentially only record 7 tracks. I hope the video helped.

      you can hard pan track 5 left and track 6 right (in the setup in this video or however you like) this way in your daw you can use PHONES(L) and PHONES(R) as separate inputs

      @wickydot thanks for the comment. Coincidentally, in a private message to Declan, I suggested this. I didn't want to put it here because I wasn't sure if it will work. Thanks for confirming.

      @@NickleRock It does indeed work!! The only extra tip I can add is that, when you separate track 5 and 6 left and right, some tweaks need to be made to the output volume of the tracks panned L and R, in order to get all loops playing back at the same volume in the DAW :)

    Hey Great Video! I totally agree with your comment about showing workflows when comparing. So Kudos for doing this. As for how to match the feature between units, it looks like the RC300 (set to Free, Auto, Auto) syncs the 2nd auto to the first auto while the RC600 may need to be bumped 1 setting to the right. What I mean by this is that the RC600 may need to be set to Free, Free, Auto. Have you tried this to see if it matches up with the behavior of the RC300 @ Free, Auto, Auto?

      Thanks for taking the time to comment. To he honest, I don't use it in this way. I just noticed the difference when helping someone else.

      I've tried it, and it doesn't work! It's driving me nuts, since the manual says it is meant to work this way... Tracks that are set to AUTO will have the same number of measures. The number of measures is determined by the first-recorded track of the tracks that are set to AUTO. For example, if all tracks are set to AUTO, the value set as the number of measures for the second and subsequent tracks will be identical to the number of measures in the first track that was recorded @@NickleRock

      Yeah. The AUTO function on the 600 does not work the same as on the 300. It's a bit strange though, and one of the reasons I don't use it.
