    Thanks! I appreciate you filming all the steps. I learn a little more each time, sometimes it is even just the small things. I am relatively new to canning, using a sheet pan and towel to place the jars on is a great idea. I was surprised at how many jars you filled, until I realized they were half pints instead of pints haha. I only stocked up on pints and quarts, but I can see now I really need to get a bunch of half pints also.

    • @Homemakingwithmema
      @Homemakingwithmema 11 дней назад

      Oh you so welcome! Yes; half pints are great for if you do not eat something quick enough; us it is salsa.... I too years ago before even canning watched countless hours of multiple people canning.... I was so scared!! but decided; this is it, I'm doing it... and I have LOVED IT ever since!! GOOD LUCK and do not give up!!

    Baking soda is a filler. You don’t need two water softeners. No modern washer is designed to use soap. Soaps require hot water, vigorous agitation and thorough rinsing. Is that how your HE washer works? Avoid.

    • @Homemakingwithmema
      @Homemakingwithmema 14 дней назад

      Thank you for your information. I may ponder leaving out the regular baking soda after reading this. Your explanation regarding modern machines; I have used the old ringer washer back in my youth; and I'm telling you they cleaned so much better! You determined the time for agitation and water temp; which all hot water at the beginning for whites than down from there.

    • @Homemakingwithmema
      @Homemakingwithmema Месяц назад

      3-6 months they last. I not only put the foil on them; I wrap them in 3 layers of syran wrap for protection. They usually never last more than 3 months for our family. Your welcome!

    You're the grandma I never had. I have a 9mo and I'm pregnant with baby #2. I want to be frugal like this and show my babies how to cook, use & share what you have. & thrift shop. I'm always worried to buy kitchen gadgets from the thrift store. Idk why. We have a dishwasher so I'm going to start looking for a potato mashed and the veggie chopper. Thank you so much for sharing what you do, Mema! 😊

    • @Homemakingwithmema
      @Homemakingwithmema Месяц назад

      Aww Thank you! I have 3 grandchildren and LOVE IT!! Your eye will let you know if the items at a thrift store a good or not; however; before purchasing ask if they have a refund policy. The thrift stores very close to me only have a refund policy for electronic and battery operated products; so that is when you let your eye do inspection well. If they are wrapped or in bags; bring to the counter or a worker and ask if you can have a better look at the item; almost all places will allow that. They are wrapped or in bags to keep them together if the item has other items that actually belong with it. Never buy glass or ceramics that have cracks or chips; these will hold bacteria and should not even be sold; unless they are antique. Congratulations on your pregnancy! Be as frugal as you can nowadays!!
