Serpent Seed
In the Christian mythos humanity began in the Garden of Eden. Adam, the first man was formed when the Hebrew God breathed life into dust on the ground & Eve, the first woman, was created from one of Adam's ribs to be his companion (Radagon is a part of Marika, akin to Eve being a part of Adam). Eve was later seduced by a serpent into eating the forbidden fruit of knowledge & sharing it with Adam. When the Hebrew god learns of their transgression they are banished from the garden which holds the tree of life (Genesis 3:24). God curses the serpent so that enmity is placed between its offspring & Eve's (Genesis 3:15). The Original Sin takes place after the expulsion of Adam & Eve from Eden; ...

    I have this idea that the gloam eyed queen is like Lilith. This is just my crazy theory but maybe radagon had Melina and messmer with the gloam eyed queen. They are both very related to fire, unlike Marikas other children, and we know both radagon and the GEQ are related to fire. Messmer also has very dark flames unlike other characters which makes me believe maybe the black flame like is merged in his flame somehow. Then of course Melinas clear ties to the GEQ. I started thinking about this after seeing kitetales' video on the abductor virgins and how the abductor virgins might be a depiction of the GEQ crying over Marika taking messmer. So then Marikas "seduction and betrayal" would be explained since she is radagon and if Marika and and radagon are like Adam and eve, the GEQ would be like Adam's first wife in the Bible, Lilith. Lilith also has ties to snakes. I just really wanted to share this theory w someone and you're video was so good going into Christian lore

      @EldenTales 8 дней назад

      @avaritia0 thank you for taking the time to share your theory! I like the idea of the GEQ being akin to Lilith. Lilith's character is associated with various myths from differing religions, but a reoccurring connection found throughout her many narratives involve snakes & child birth. For instance, Samuel Noah Kramer translated ki-sikil-lil-la-ke as Lilith in Tablet XII of the Epic of Gilgamesh. The ki-sikil-lil-la-ke is associated with a serpent. In Gilgamesh, Enkidu, and the Netherworld, a huluppu tree grows in Inanna's garden in Uruk, whose wood she plans to use to build a new throne. After ten years of growth, she comes to harvest it and finds a serpent living at its base; a ki-sikil-lil-la-ke made a house in its trunk. Quick side note the GEQ is related to fire (God Slaying Black Flame) & interestingly Lilith is mentioned in the Babylonian Talmud, in the Conflict of Adam and Eve with Satan as Adam's first wife, and in the Zohar Leviticus as "a hot fiery female who first cohabited with man". In the Latin Vulgate Book of Isaiah 34:14, Lilith is translated lamia. One source states simply that she is a daughter of the goddess Hecate (triple goddess), another, that Lamia was subsequently cursed by the goddess Hera to have stillborn children because of her association with Zeus; alternatively, Hera slew all of Lamia's children in anger that Lamia slept with her husband, Zeus. The grief caused Lamia to turn into a monster that took revenge on mothers by stealing their children and devouring them. Lamia had a vicious sexual appetite that matched her cannibalistic appetite for children. Her gift was the "mark of a Sibyl", a gift of second sight. Zeus was said to have given her the gift of sight. However, she was "cursed" to never be able to shut her eyes so that she would forever obsess over her dead children. Taking pity on Lamia, Zeus gave her the ability to remove and replace her eyes from their sockets. Which could relate to Marika's Soreseal & Scarseal although that's purely speculation. According to Siegmund Hurwitz the Talmudic Lilith is connected with the Greek Lamia, who also governed a class of child stealing lamia-demons. Lamia bore the title "child killer" and was feared for her malevolence, like Lilith. She has different conflicting origins and is described as having a human upper body from the waist up and a serpentine body from the waist down. In Greek mythology, Lamia is a female daemon who steals children to avenge the loss of her own children. Which could relate to the abductor virgins, as the name implies they are abducting the child; thus remaining a virgin & avoiding childbirth. Just as Lamia has a serpentine body the abductor virgins contain serpentine tendrils within their chest cavity. Abductor Virgins also are known as Iron Virgins. In the Lands Between they are used primarily by Rykard during his inquisition (Ghiza's Wheel) & in the Scadu Altus they may have been used in a similar manner. Near the Fort of Reprimand are two Iron Virgins & the term reprimand means a rebuke (express sharp disapproval or criticism), especially an official one. Iron in the Lands Between is connected to prisoners (Prisoner Iron Mask, Blackguard's Iron Mask). I briefly mention Lilith in a prior video discussing the Great Goddess; a concept of a mother goddess, a divine figure of creation and life derived from ancient beliefs. The shadow of the Great Goddess is the Dark Goddess archetype, which can be seen as the opposite side of the spectrum and the second half of the cycle of life.

    Do you think Sir Ansbach is a reference to the Augsburg Confession, also known as the Augustan Confession? A god, a lord and a vessel reminds me of the Trinity

    • @EldenTales
      @EldenTales Месяц назад

      @sandrafransson3072 interestingly Ansbach & Augsburg are both cities in the German state of Bavaria. The Augsburg Confession is the primary confession of faith of the Lutheran Church its contents include 28 articles concerning what Lutherans believed, taught and confessed in positive (theses) and negative (antitheses). The confession includes the Hebrew god, Original Sin, justification by faith, baptism, & sainthood; all ideas referenced in Elden Ring. Fantastic addition! Side note the Confessor starting class is a church spy adept at covert operations; equally adept with a sword as they are with incantations. The Confessor Hood states: "Black hood for blending in with the darkness. The churches outside the Lands Between, dedicated to the teachings of the Two Fingers, send confessors out to follow the guidance of grace. The confessors are loyal servants to the Two Fingers, ready to hunt down and quietly dispose of their enemies." While in number of Christian traditions, including Orthodoxy, Catholicism, Lutheranism, and Anglicanism, a confessor is a priest who hears the confessions of penitents and pronounces absolution. Also I agree the triad of a god, a vessel, & a lord does fit into a similar mold as the Trinity. The Trinity is one God existing in three coequal, coeternal, consubstantial divine persons: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ) and God the Holy Spirit, three distinct persons sharing one nature. Prior to the release of the DLC (inclusion of Metyr) I felt that the Greater Will, Elden Beast (Grace), & Marika made a great analogy to the Trinity. Plus triads are found throughout the Lands Between: three Empyreans, Triple Rings of Light, three wolves (Farum Azula & Lone Wolf Ashes), Three Sisters (Liurnia), three small spirits (Chrysalids' Memento).

      Thank you for your great content. I figured you'd be more knowledgeable, religion is not my strong side, though history is interesting. I read about Ansbach's history and the Confessions showed up. I read that the Confessions came to be because of a need to restore trust between the Lutheran and Catholic churches. Maybe Sir Ansbach is trying to restore some trust between the Golden Order and Miquella's faith? But the confessors doesn't seem to see it that way. The trinity is definitely apply able on many things in Elden Ring, maybe it's a microcosm thing. Also, a stupid thought just hit me; since we're in the era of pisces that lasts 1250 years from Jesus birth (hence the fish is the symbol of Jesus), do you think that is why Godwyn the golden is growing a fishtail, and there is two of his malformed body (pisces are two fishes)? Is Godwyn Jesus? 😅 (Religion from Astrology)

      @@sandrafransson3072 thank you for your kind words, but I know that I know nothing (Apology of Socrates). You're right about the Confessions & I like your perspective on how it relates to Sir Ansbach. Ansbach was once the commander of the Pureblood Knights that served Lord Mohg & challenged Miquella in an attempt to free Mohg of his enchantment, which resulted in him falling under the enchantment himself. When you hand over the Secret Rite Scroll he states: "As if using Lord Mohg to gain entrance to the land of shadow were not enough, he plans to use his corpse as the vessel of his king consort. He has forsaken Lord Mohg's soul. He desires only his empty shell. It beggars belief, but… I'm afraid Tender Miquella fails to grasp the humiliation implied by this act. One thing is certain. My dear lord deserved better." Ansbach also states: "I stand with blade loft, blood afire. For the dignity of my lord and master, Mohg." & when being summoned to fight Consort Radahn he states: "General Radahn. A pleasure to see you, after all this time. But those remains do not belong to you. Lord Mohg will have his dignity." I don't believe Ansbach is affiliated with the Golden Order, or Miquella, but was rather under his charm. You mentioned how the Confession was used to restore trust between the Lutheran and Catholic churches, but another purpose was to defend the Lutherans against misrepresentations and to provide a statement of their theology that would be acceptable to the Roman Catholics. Through that lens Sir Ansbach defended the actions of his lord; justifying Mohg's kidnapping of Miquella, as Mohg was under Miquella's enchantment. Mohg has been misrepresented in the history of the Lands Between, even being described as a deluded maniac by Sir Gideon Ofnir. Yet Ansbach is devoted to serving Mohg & protecting his image (his dignity). Ansbach could be viewed as defending the misrepresentations of Mohg's actions akin to how the Confession defended the misrepresentations of the Lutherans; albeit this connection may be a stretch. I believe there may be more of Godwyn's growths (deformed bodies) in the Land of Shadow's catacombs guarded by Godwyn’s Death Knights. That being said I do agree with you that Godwyn's fishtail holds significance, and you're absolutely right Christ is associated with the fish as well (ichthys). The fish is also used by Jesus to describe "the Sign of Jonah" (Matthew 12:40). This is symbolic of Jesus's resurrection, upon which the entire Christian faith is based. Wonderful addition!

Most people are lukewarm. But, I think you are right. I was comparing the etymology of Ranni and Godwyn, contemplating a Cain and Abel parallel One interesting theme is that of lamb skins vs fig leafs. How God clothed Adam and Eve in animal skins, to replace the fig leaf aprons. The fig leafs represent a systems of work based salvation and the animal skins represent faith based salvation If Shaman Village represents the Garden of Eden wouldn't Metyr have been the original "serpent"? I think the Gnostic Christianity mythology is heavily present in the game Fantastic video

      @EldenTales Месяц назад

      @Billyboy597 out of all of the beautiful new locations added in the dlc (Cerulean Coast, Jagged Peak, Enir-Ilim) strangely enough I was impressed the most by the Shadow Keep Specimen Storehouse. The Christ-like omen seems crucial as during one point you must even ride across the figure. Your mention of the skins used to cloth Adam & Eve are given to clothe them as they are no longer viewed as innocent after eating the forbidden fruit of knowledge. This skin is a sacrifice, in the Old Testament there are many animals, these sacrifices continue until the ultimate sacrifice is made; crucifixion of Jesus. Also I didn't mention it in the video, but within the Christian theology Christ acts as a sacrifice to save humanity from its serpentine nature and is symbolized by the Nehushtan. The Nehushtan is the bronze image of a serpent on a pole. In the Old Testament, after The Exodus, the people of Israel are wandering the desert & they begin to complain about their circumstances. God then sends them fiery flying venomous serpents as punishment which resulted in so many deaths that the people pleaded with Moses to save them. God then tells Moses to make a bronze image of a snake, raise it on a pole & anyone who has been poisoned can be healed by looking upon it. Christ later reveals that this command was given to Moses so that later this narrative would be a metaphor for himself. The brazen serpent was a serpent without poison, while Christ was said to be a man without sin. The serpent, a symbol of sin and judgment, was lifted up from the earth and put on a tree, which was a symbol of a curse. The serpent lifted & cursed symbolizes Christ, who is said to take away sin from everyone who would look to him in faith, just like the wandering people of Exodus had to look to the Nehushtan in the wilderness. The curse is mentioned in Galatians stating "Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, 'Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole'". This verse establishes the idea that humanity cannot earn salvation without God's grace, and that Christ's sacrifice. Interestingly the Nehushtan is a serpent constructed with bronze & bronze is also associated with serpents in the Lands Between. The Coil Shield states the sculpted bronze snake is a poisonous breed, boosting the wielder's resistance to poison. The Venomous Fang states the black fang protruding from the bronze snake head is coated in deadly poison. Thus there is a clear connection between serpents & bronze. Albeit bronze isn't mentioned in the item description for the Serpent Bow it appears to be bronze as well. Miquella is a Christ like figure, who sacrifices his body & blood (Eucharist) to bring about an age of compassion & is viewed a savior to those who are socially considered to be low & meek (Sacred Crown Helm). The bronze serpent in the Lands Between is heavily associated with the Duelists, gladiators who were driven from the colosseum. The snake is viewed as a traitor to the Erdtree & the audience delighted in seeing these bronze effigies beaten and battered (Duelist Helm). Within the Consecrated Snowfield, an area associated with Miquella (Haligtree Secret Medallion), there are two Rotten Duelist variants. Each piece of the Duelist Set provides the effect similar to Shabriri's Woe, drawing the aggro of nearby enemies. I interpret this to mean the bronze serpent is a form of sacrifice used in the Lands Between, it increases aggro & the audience delights in watching these bronze effigies beaten. Miquella is the bronze serpent, the Nehushtan, a great sacrifice that will bring about salvation through his rebirth. Thank you for taking the time to watch!

    Great stuff as always. How do you feel about the Elden Beast being a version of the abyssal serpent of the chaoskampf? In the Abrahamic tradition there's Yahweh vs Leviathan and the Whore of Babylon (Marika's a "strumpet") and beast of Apocalypse, both of which I think could be relevant. The problem with eating from the fruit of the tree is becoming like god, so maybe Marika becoming a god is ERs version.

    • @EldenTales
      @EldenTales Месяц назад

      @TonyPepperoni-yv2ll originally I had a whole section of the video devoted to the chaoskampf! I absolutely agree that the defeating of the Elden Beast can be viewed as the chaoskampf, a hero (the Tarnished) defeating a great cosmic serpent to establish a new order. When Marika shattered the Elden Ring she threw the Lands Between into chaos, you as the Tarnished must struggle against this chaos to find new order. Chaoskampf is a German word meaning "struggle against chaos". The origins of the chaoskampf is most likely lie in Proto-Indo-European religion whose descendants almost all feature some variation of the story of a storm god fighting a sea serpent, again representing order vs chaos. The Chaoskampf would eventually be inherited by descendants of these ancient religions, perhaps most notably by Christianity, like the story of Saint George and the Dragon, or of Yahweh vs. Leviathan. Plus the Serpent-Hunter used to kill Rykard (in his large serpent form) mentions that it is "thought to have been used to hunt an immortal great serpent in the distant past...". The slaying of Rykard as a great serpent to regain the order of the Elden Ring again plays into the chaoskampf motif. Thank you for taking the time to watch!

    The only things i disagree, is extrapolating "demigods" to mean both "empyreans" and "gods". Marika is repeatedly said to be the ONE god of the Lands Between and the empyreans are chosen by the fingers (otherwise Radahn, Rykard, Mohg, Godwyn, Morgott, Messmer... would also be empyreans, but they aren't). I believe that, since the Godskins hunted Gods, and the Golden Order is founded on Marika being the only god, that before the Order, there were other Gods like Marika and the Gloam Eyed Queen killed them. P.S.: Isn't it odd that the Queen killed Marika's competition and then was DEFEATED (not KILLED) By Maliketh? And the Sealing of death (which Maliketh was sent to defeat) inside him was a betrayal BY MARIKA. The same last God that tasked Hewg with crafting a God-slaying blade. I believe Marika led the Godskins, killed the other Gods, Maliketh was sent to defeat (subdue) her, she betrayed him by sealing Death inside him, and then she became the only true God and now wants to kill herself, the last God.

    • @EldenTales
      @EldenTales Месяц назад

      @WheatDos what an absolutely fantastic addition! I have long wondered about the item description for the Godskin Swaddling Cloth: "Sacred cloth of the Godskin Apostles, made from supple skin sewn together. The Gloam-Eyed Queen cradles newborn apostles swaddled in this cloth. Soon they will grow to become the death of the gods." What gods could this be in reference to? We are presented with demigods, but demigods are only created via the Shattering. There are also the Outer Gods, but to me, again purely speculative, I believe the term outer to be in reference to their influence being outside of the Golden Order's ideology. The Formless Mother, Rot, & Twin Birds being the cycle of life, birth, decay, death. Death being sealed away means these beliefs become somewhat obsolete & heretical from the standpoint of Erdtree burials. Basically I am unsure if Outer Gods were so known as just gods, or life, prior to the establishment of the Golden Order deeming these notions as outer (outside; external). While Empyreans are special beings that are capable of becoming gods of a new age and forging a new order that governs the world. One such way in which they can achieve this is by becoming the vessel of the Elden Ring. In Japanese, Empyreans are referred to as Shinjin, literally meaning "Divine Person", or "God-like Person." Ranni states she "was once an Empyrean. Of the demigods, only I, Miquella, and Malenia could claim that title." Side note all of Empyreans are female, outside of Miquella, & are kin of Marika. Miquella is stated to be male, yet his counterpart St. Trina is voiced by Jessica Rhodes & apparently in cut content, it's confirmed that she's actually St. Trina. St. Trina is female (akin to Radagon being Marika's masculine form). Plus Mogh was charmed into becoming Miquella's king consort, while Miquella ended up choosing Radahn, his promised consort, both of which are deemed to be lords: male. The idea that the Gloam-Eyed Queen was defeated, not killed, may play into her Erdtree rebirth. Albeit this is purely speculation on my part. Thank you for taking the time to watch!

    as always, a great video! 😌 I've been working on the same idea but from a different perspective and since you already did a perfect job linking the lore to the christian theology I want to add a little bit of my antiquity obsession. in Orphism, a combination of Ancient Greek and hellenistic beliefs connected to the myths of Dionysus, there's the concept of the Orphic Egg. a cosmic object from which the first hermaphroditic deity hatched and later created other gods. it is usually depicted with a serpent Ananke (necessity, inevitability) cradling the egg. and so we can see a snake skin in a place where potentially the one true god of the Golden Order was born. I love how the lore can be interpreted from so many different angles lol

    I slightly disagree with what you're putting down this time. So, we've discussed the Carl Jung archetypes before, and also their connections to Greek mythology. Messmer, in my opinion, is tied to purging the traumatic event that Marika experienced, which is locked away in the unconscious (aka the land of shadow). To me, this all ties back to the Nyx concept. The night mother. Destroy and purge the traumatic events that Marika experienced. Destruction through suppression. Melina, however, she seems to represent a younger version of Marika that doesn't like the direction the self has taken. A regressive archetype, like a phoenix. Burn it all down, so you can start over. Rebirth. Destruction for renewal. Miquella represents the divine child, so I'm guessing Malenia represents the wounded warrior. All these characters are archetypes of Marika. So, the Gloam-Eyed queen is still an aspect of Marika, and I believe this aspect was locked away and protected by Maliketh. It's a part of Marika that she's ashamed of and doesn't want to be associated with, once she left the Lands of Shadow. This could be very similar to Daedicar/Tanith. The Gloam-Eyed queen would have been a similar concept to the earlier mentioned Night mother, Nyx. So, when we kill Maliketh, we basically release the suppressed part of Marika. If we then continue the path of the frenzied flame, the phoenix would be absent, and therefor resentment could take its place. Removing death would mean eternal suffering for the hornsent. So, you're basically not wanting to deal with your traumatic experiences, and it'll keep festering inside of you. This is actually the main theme in a lot of video games that use the exact same blueprint as Elden Ring uses, like Persona, Shin Megami Tensei, Genshin Impact, Final Fantasy (7,9,10).

      @thecrankyoldman although I didn't go into detail about the curse of man that follows the Original Sin, it is only until Christ is sacrificed that the curse is broken so to speak. The image of Christ's sacrifice was originally symbolized by the Nehushtan, a bronze serpent hung on a pole. The metaphor being that Christ took the form of a human but lacked sin, like how the bronze serpent lacks venom. All of that being said I absolutely agree with your perspective, all of the pieces you mentioned fit perfectly. Elden Ring's narrative was crafted with inspiration from so many different schools of thought, thus there are so many ways to interpret the source material. Thank you for taking the time to add such a wonderful addition, I always enjoy Jung archetypes!

      @@EldenTales I think that most of what you've said is fucking awesome, as always. Just the research that you do is a fascinating watch by itself. My whole 10-page essay was just to set up to explain that part :) Centered Tarnished actually released a new video today, talking about the Carl Jung stuff. Really worth a watch. Me and him agree on a lot of stuff, but have a different way to get to the same conclusions. His research has also been really impressive. And I totally agree with you. @@EldenTales ruclips.net/video/8D7euqMTk-k/видео.html I was going to post you gameplay footage with a few timestamps, but I think this might be easier and better. I was going to point out the character, his story, and what caused him to go this direction. The character basically represents the ignorant fake god, it's easy to cheer for him, but it's also easy to see him as a villain. He wants to do what's best, but in the end, it's a bad choice. The big difference between Persona 5 and Persona 5R is that in Persona 5 you're searching for the Holy Grail (the divine gate), but in truth it's Yaldabaoth. Yaldabaoth is the demiurge created by Sophia, that tries to give the people what they want, which is also a land without pain and suffering. In Persona 5R you still experience the same main story, but after completing the original content, it continues with Dr. Takuto Maruki's story. The other game in the series that has a really close connection to Elden Ring, is Persona 3 Reload. You start a year with no friends. Your family is dead, and you end up living in a dorm. As the days go by, you make friends, and you learn about all their losses. You and your friends basically become each other's pillars. You then meet a character, called Pharos (the Alexandrian lighthouse which I think Farum Azula is supposed to represent), who acts as your guiding light. The first persona, you awaken, is called Orpheus, and you end up going to the Tartarus (land of shadows) to confront everybody's pain and suffering. When the clock strikes midnight, there is an extra hour, where you can interact with this shadow realm, They call this the 25th hour, which represents the unconscious. As you progress through the game, you learn there is another side to you. The other you tells you about the end of the world, which is Nyx (as the moon) coming to earth to destroy it. The end boss is basically the Cosmic egg. You sacrifice yourself, in order for your friends to continue their journey. ruclips.net/video/qq5UjQ-KJaE/видео.html This is Centered Tarnished's latest video. It explains the concept of the creature/the fake god (the ignorant god), the inner world and how the different characters represent different parts of Marika. I think we kinda disagree on what the demi-gods represent. He believes that they're complexes (emotions) and I lean more towards archetypes. And yah, I think the whole 'Elden Ring is told in different languages' analogy is pretty spot on, and as you can tell from our discussions alone, we have spoken about Aztec, Greek, Norse, Japanese, Hindu, and many other mythologies, human psychology, tarot cards, Ripley scroll, real life historical events, real life concepts (like the cuckoo bird), other games and even operas. So I always tell people that if they're not sure how to connect things or want to figure out how things happened, to just look for examples in other works. "do you believe she has an identity, or merely a character from the Land Between's past?" I think it's a part of Marika, that she doesn't want to be associated with anymore. I think Marika was a very chaotic person that acted on emotions, and that is the part she didn't like about herself. So she tried to distance herself from that part of herself. Even though I wished there was a physical character, like a Nyx (similar to st.Trina), that would represent that part of her, I actually think Messmer is what we most likely should be looking at. I think the snakeskin might be the big clue, and it wouldn't surprise me if the story spirals the whole Daedicar/Tanith and Rya situation. I think I have mentioned this to you before. I believe that Messmer represents the loss of a child. Another traumatic event that Marika didn't want to confront. Rune of the unborn. The creation of life through Alchemy. The baim items. The cursed children. The swaddling cloth. Song of Lament. Marika actually talking about the unwanted child. Entwining Umbilical Cord. Rennala seems to spiral Marika in the opposite direction, similar to how Miquella spirals Marika's journey in the opposite direction. But, I'm keen to hear your thoughts. ps. My reply felt messy, so I took the time to rewrite it :)

(esp. with the ensuing godhunt) and she even locked melina away as well even so far as having her killed. we should’ve had more lore descriptions about the GEQ/Melina in the dlc!! 😭 anyway, amazing video elden tales!! like always

      I largely agree; it creates a consistent pattern, wherein all children of Radagon are aligned against the children of Godfrey, with Miquella's grand design for godhood- and his siccing Malenia on Radahn- being an excellent bookend to The Shattering War because *the children of Radagon had been leaving each other alone to that point.*

      @emopotato9318 I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to watch! I also wish we received more lore on GEQ/Melina in the dlc, but at least we got Messmer's Kindling. Finger Reader Enia mentions that the kindling for the Erdtree must be of "One who envisions the flame" which confirms that Melina is the younger sister of Messmer. Melina is also associated with Torrent. Prior to meeting the Tarnished, Torrent is in the company of Melina. The pair find the Tarnished unconscious in the Stranded Graveyard. Later, when the Tarnished enters into an accord with Melina, she grants them the Spectral Steed Whistle which allows them to call upon Torrent, revealing that Torrent has chosen them. Should the Tarnished choose to become the Lord of Frenzied Flame and incinerate the Erdtree, a final cutscene will show Melina picking up the Spectral Steed Whistle, which disintegrates in her hand. Torrent is seemingly from the Land of Shadow. Torrent has horns on his head; the Crucible has a particularly strong influence on the beasts of the realm of shadow, causing many to grow horns despite the characteristics of their species (Beast Horn). Within the Shadow Keep Specimen Storehouse are a variety of other large horned beasts, possibly related to the Regal Ancestor Spirits. The spirit anatomically has more in common with a horse than it does with a deer: it has only a single toe on each foot & its jaw is similar to that of a horse. Plus the Regal Ancestor Spirits leaps in a similar way to Torrent. Meaning that Torrent, Melina, & Marika are all from the Land of Shadow. It makes me wonder who Torrent's former master was, especially given their ties to Ranni. Ranni the Witch: "Ah. As I had hoped. I was entrusted this, for thee. By Torrent's former master. Tis a bell for calling forth spirits." Plus in the Spiritcaller Cave a Spiritcaller Snail summons a Godskin Apostle & a Godskin Noble. Once defeated the Spiritcaller Snail drops the Black Flame Ritual & Godskin Swaddling Cloth.

      @@EldenTales I think the only 2 available options are Miquella and Marika. So, option1... Miquella's crafting and having traversed the snowy mountains to go see Ranni. But there are a lot of issues with this option. Miquella is backtracking Marika's journey, so we're experiencing the Sophia's journey backwards. All the numan stuff, doesn't seem to tie back to Miquella, which is another reason I don't think it is him. But Ranni stepping aside for her brother, would make total sense, as we seem to be asked to continue the mission that Malenia failed to complete. I also don't believe that Miquella started in the Land of Shadows either, hence why we're backtracking Marika's journey. He wants to confront the traumatic events and try to overcome them. But it seems that there had to be a meeting between Miquella and Ranni at some point, which is another reason why he could have been the snowy crone. And, the other is actually Marika herself. What a lot of people seem to have missed is how close the story of Ranni and Rennala resembles the story of Rindr (Rind, Rinda... a giant, Rennala), Odin (Radagon), Sigyn (might be Rellana), Baldur (Godwyn), Frigg (Marika) and Váli (Ranni). Loki gets Baldur killed through the mistletoe arrow, through Hodr. Odin, eventhough married to Frigg, ends up tricking Rindr in having a child with him. This child is conceived, and its goal is to kill Hodr, as an act of revenge. Vali is born, and kills his half brother Hodr but also kills his half-brother Narfi, who is Loki's son. So, there is a Loki-Odin connection, but the stories are so confusing, that I think a lot of those details have been lost or not translated correctly. There is some wolf action going on between the Nafri and Vali, which makes me believe that Nafri might represent Blaidd. Frigg gets pissed off and asks one of Odin's sons to visit Hell, to retrieve Baldr, which was Hermod (Miquella). Hermod failed his mission. Hell requested that everybody in the land would weep for Baldr, in order to return him to the world, but this didn't happen. The story seems to end with Baldr not returning to the world, because a giantess didn't weep, which was Odin is disguise. Frigg also had several maidens, which seem to be represented by the black knife assassins, and their roles seem to fit perfectly with what they're doing in game. There are a few changes to the story, but the core concept remains pretty much the same. In all of this. We know Miquella tried to bring Godwyn back to life, but that those conditions weren't met. Just like in game. So that means that Marika is and has always been the puppet master. It seems that grace, Marika, puts all her eggs in Miquella's basket until things go wrong. But after that journey ends, which is when grace changes its direction towards Ranni's tower. A lot of Leyndell's story seems to pull a lot of inspiration from, Der Ring des Nibelungen. Yes, the opera :) Something I also don't hear a lot of people talking about.

    What can I say? Video was f*cking heat. Especially loved the detail on the turtle talisman connecting to the virdian ember Medaillon! I would humbly suggest you to look into a possible connection with the umbilical cord talisman being seemingly depicted on the white reed armor set, especially interesting considering that where we meet the white reed spirits called upon by spirit caller snail snakes, the snakes summon white reed soldiers AND godskin apostles/nobles. I thoroughly believe there to be a lot of influence regarding large snakes and the land of reeds akin to sekiro, where tanith also might originate from. Tarnished eater Anastasia drops the skorpion talismans (land of shadow->skorpions) which hold a dried snake heart imbued with some element

    • @EldenTales
      @EldenTales Месяц назад

      @ozsun9736 thank you for taking the time to watch! The moment I saw the Elder Serpent's shed skin in the Temple of Eiglay I also thought of the Great Serpent from Sekiro. After sneaking past the Second Serpent you're rewarded with the Dried Serpent Viscera; it is the heart of a Great Serpent. The item description states that the heart is believed to be where one's spirit resides & in the Lands Between when dragons are defeated you gain their hearts; which you can then devour to gain their strength. Going a step further some dragon hearts (Greyoll, Agheel, Smarag, Ekzykes, Borealis, Bayle) seem to contain their essence/soul as they are superior incantations that summon their physical form (head) when the incantation is used. The Dried Serpent Viscera also states that the denizens of the Sunken Valley worship the organs believing they represent the deity itself. Skin, like the heart, is an organ; thus the denizens of the Sunken Valley & those that within the Temple of Eiglay were both worshiping snake organs. You mentioned the Sacred Scorpion Charm which displays the appearance of two physical scorpions, but is in fact one scorpion shedding its exoskeleton, just like as snakes shed their skin. In its claw it holds onto a heart to possibly display a symbol for reincarnation. After defeating Rykard he states "a serpent never dies" & the Serpent-Hunter states it was "used to hunt an immortal great serpent". A snake that never dies is the ouroboros; a symbol for eternal cyclic renewal or a cycle of life, death and rebirth; the snake's skin-sloughing symbolizes the transmigration of souls. The snake biting its own tail is a fertility symbol in some religions: the tail is a phallic symbol and the mouth is a yonic or womb-like symbol. The Land of Reeds Helm states it is located outside the borders of the Lands Between & is said to be a place locked in a long and miserable civil war, which, over time, has caused its alienation from neighboring nations and left the entire land succumbed to a blood-soaked madness. In Sekiro the interior ministry seeks to unify all Japan under one country resulting in mass bloodshed throughout its provinces. Plus Ashina can translate to reed & Bloody Finger Okina came from the Land of Reeds, which also is said to be in a civil war. Okina is essentially a Shura. Side note when Rykard first set eyes on Tanith, she was working as a dancer in a foreign land. Soon, he made her his consort (Consort's Mask). Tanith is also associated with the item Dancer's Castanets which states castanets used by dancers from foreign lands; the passionate dance comprises no seductiveness, but merely a dignified beauty. It's possible that Tanith was once a Dancer of Ranah, a dancer from a foreign land. Zullie the Witch in a video about the DLC shared how similar the face of Tanith is to the Dancer of Ranah. The Dancer of Ranah in the Southern Nameless Mausoleum drops the dancer's set, the hood states that the dance of Ranah is one of burning passion, and the most passionate dancers never allow their fiery dance to end, losing even their names as they dance on. To see the passion fade is to see the dancer's flame extinguished. The dancer's set is colored red to match their fiery dance. The fact that the dance is described as fiery & that Tanith ended up in Volcano Manor seems to be a connection as well. Near Bonny Village there is also a large white snake skin.

      @samsalah5611 the DLC has altered many of my older theories, especially my thoughts on Radagon & the Carians. Eventually I will condense all of my thoughts into a video, but I am still piecing everything together. An interesting incantation added lore-wise was the Multilayered Ring of Light, an incantation of those who served Miquella; this light-ring incantation was cultivated by a tradition separate from Golden Order fundamentalism. The two related incantations we gain prior are Radagon's Rings of Light & Triple Rings of Light, which tell a story of Miquella & Radagons relationship (the only real connection we see between Radagon & his children). Multilayered Ring of Light is rewarded upon defeating the Spirit Misbegotten Crusader in the Stone Coffin Fissure. Specifically it is the crusader variant, this variant of the Misbegotten is the same as the one that wields the Golden Order Greatsword, which was forged by Radagon. Radagon led the Golden Order crusades into Liurnia. Plus, the Stone Coffin Fissure is located on a peninsula in the southernmost tip of the Cerulean Coast region; while the area most associated with Misbegotten in the Lands Between is the Weeping Peninsula (both peninsulas being associated with the Misbegotten, as well as a scaly variant using the Rusted Anchor for a weapon). The Spirit Misbegotten Crusader is found near a small cave with putrescence. Congealed Putrescence oozes from stone coffins & is what remains of the impure lives kept within the stone coffins. Interestingly the Albinauric Bloodclot states that Albinaurics are lifeforms made by human hands. Thus, many believe them to live impure lives, untouched by the Erdtree's grace. Congealed Putrescence resembles the Silver Tear Husk; the Silver Tear makes mockery of life, reborn again and again into imitation, perhaps, one day, it will be reborn a lord. At the core of a silver tear is a larval tear & the larval tears in the DLC appear differently than those found in the base game. The new form of larval tear we find in the DLC states they're exceptionally rare creatures that burgeons from spiritgraves and lives only a fleeting existence; neither flesh nor spirit, but something in between. The DLC variant is more incorporeal in appearance, just like the shadow men. Radagon also has a shared appearance as his left arm is also a shadow. Radagon is Marika, that we know for sure. Either Marika used a mimic tear to create Radagon, or Radagon existed prior using the power of mimicry himself to become Marika; these are questions I still struggle with, especially with the introduction to St. Trina. Needle Knight Leda states that St. Trina is Miquella's other half, that her love for him is boundless..."or perhaps her feelings go beyond even that." To me this reflects Radagon & Marika's relationship as he became her second lord consort & they even procreate by copulation. The Spirit Misbegotten Crusader is located in the Stone Coffin Fissure which is also where Miquella discarded St. Trina. Radagon & St. Trina share many connections as they are both the other halves of Marika & Miquella respectively. Not to mention the association with flowers, Miquella & St. Trina have lilies, while Radagon has the bloodrose (Radagon's Icon). Speaking of flowers the Shadow Sunflower are veiled in shadow and covered in impenetrable thorns, being suffused with profound holiness-much akin to Radagon. Radagon's Icon features mimicked bloodrose that are white displaying their artificial nature (personal speculation) & the roses lack thorns. Plus their is also the fact that Radagon is deeply associated with the crucible, as you mentioned both Messmer & Melina being seemingly the children of Radagon. Messmer & Melina both are associated with fire, just as many of Radagon's children are (Rykard & Radahn). Radagon has ties to Fire Giants (Giant's Red Braid). Miriel uses terms like "skeleton" & "giant stature" when speaking about Radagon's statue. Fire Giants & Astrologers were once neighbors on the Northern Mountaintops. Rennala is possibly a descendant of the Astrologers & joins Radagon in union at the Church of Vows. With all of my current research into GRRM it all reminds me of the title A Song of Ice (Astrologers) and Fire (Giant). I am still in the discovery process though, still many unsolved questions.

      @@EldenTales excellent thoughts/theory as always what puzzles me is the timeframe on the birth of Messmer/Melina if they are the oldest which I believe them to be I wonder if they were born when the current now known land of shadow was once part of the lands between and they grew up during the start of marikas godhood and the start of the golden order then later on in his life marika sent Messmer to purge the land and locked away/sealed the shadow land from the lands between causing the giant land mass to be empty in the middle of the map do u think this was way later during the golden order reign post or pre Godfrey era, it says in a item or remembrance I think it was commander gaus that messmer and gaus were like older brothers to the lion and the lion obviously symbolising radahn even though radahn and messmer r biological half siblings

      @@samsalah5611 your logic of Messmer & Melina being the oldest of Marika's children makes sense. I haven't put together a historical timeline of events, but I've seen multiple attempts by others to do so. I am unsure of the exact events, but you're right Remembrance of Commander Gaius states: Both were as elder brothers to the lion, and both were cursed from birth. Plus Blades of Stone states: Gaius and Radahn were good rivals in their youth, and this sorcery is a product of their friendly competition. So both seemingly were scholars of the same master of gravitational magic, an Alabaster Lord, in Sellia. The fact that Messmer was like an elder brother to Radahn (the lion) & shares so many similarities with Rykard (snakes, fire) could establish a decent relationship between Marika's original children (Messmer & Melina) & Radagon's Carian family (Radahn, Rykard, Ranni). Marika failed Messmer as a mother & abandoned him in the Land of Shadow; his sister, Melina, witnessing this betrayal firsthand. Additionally, due to Marika's actions after the dismissal of Godfrey, she also makes Radagon abandon his wife to return to become the second Elden Lord. Please keep in mind this is merely a theory, more research is needed, but was Melina involved with the Knight of the Black Knives? Melina seeking vengeance against Marika's Golden Lineage after Marika abandoned Messmer, Melina’s brother & Marika's firstborn. Messmer is sent away to be forgotten on a never-ending crusade, while Godwyn takes his place as the heir to the Erdtree Royal House & is given the title Golden. Melina seeks revenge & along with Ranni (Rykard), all experiencing abandonment due to Marika's actions, work together to sacrifice Godwyn. We also know that Radahn laid siege to Leyndell (Radahn fighting Morgott, Morgott calls him a willful traitor) & Radahn viewed Messmer as an elder brother. As far as evidence of Melina’s involvement there is the Blade of Calling (the power of its former owner, the kindling maiden) found in a secret room prior to arriving at the Forbidden Lands site of grace. The blade is wielded by Melina when summoned for the Morgott, The Omen King fight. The Blade is very similar to the Black Knife, and some in the community speculate that the Black Knife is the Blade of Calling imbued with the power of Destined Death. The Black Knife states: Dagger once belonging to one of the assassins who murdered Godwyn the Golden on the Night of the Black Knives. A ritual performed on the oddly misshapen blade imbued it with the power of the stolen Rune of Death. Again all merely speculation.

      @@EldenTales ur theory makes much sense to be honest, it wouldn’t be surprising to me if some of the siblings especially maybe Melina to take revenge on Marika after what she did to Messmer much much earlier in the time frame, that theory u stated of urs can also be puzzled together now that Rykard did help Ranni in the night of the black knives, maybe he wanted to take revenge on Marika because he looked up to Messmer with the snakes and all? Little did he know Messmers serpents was a curse he despised and not something he wanted even though we don’t know exactly when Messmer was sent to purge the land and was abandoned I think I can conclude in my opinion it was when at least before Radagon was called to be the second Elden lord maybe, however there is apparently cut dialogue in Messmers boss fight that when he realized you are a tarnished he says miquella spoke of thee. Maybe he was abandoned when the twins were born or maybe before the birth? Because if this cut dialogue is true that means that Messmer and miquella had a connection considering we know miquella went through shadowkeep. @@samsalah5611 as mentioned the Remembrance of Commander Gaius explains that Messmer was like an elder brother to Radahn, thus giving us evidence that Messmer interacted with the Carian royal family. Being regarded as Radahn's elder brother & Rykard seemingly mirroring much of Messmer's attributes (snakes & fire) makes me think that the snake skin in Bonny Village is crucial to understanding the connection between Messmer, Rykard, & why Rykard was involved with the Night of the Black Knives. Both Messmer & Rykard are connected to a large white serpent. Rykard is said to have traveled to a foreign land where he encountered a dancer by the name of Tanith & that in the Land of Shadow resides the spirit of a Dancer of Ranah. The Dancer’s Castanets (Tanith) & Dancer's Dress (Ranah) both include the term passion in their item descriptions as well. Within the Land of Shadow there is a small settlement called Bonny Village & in the village there is the shed skin of a white serpent. We also find the shed skin of a white serpent in the Temple of Eiglay located at Volcano Manor. In the Temple of Eiglay there are stone statues of winged snakes & winged snakes were Messmer's constant companions (Messmer's Helm). Rykard utilizes the lava hexes of Mt Gelmir & Messmer bore a vision of fire (Messmer's Kindling). The Serpent Flail is coiled like Rykard when we first enter the Audience Pathway & states fire roars within the snakes' bodies. Rykard may have looked up to Messmer, just as Radahn did.

    The combination of Wyverns with Fire Wyrms to create dragons also supports the idea that the Twinbird god likely mated with Bayle to create the Drakes, the latter of which possess feathers. GRR Martin went out of his way in an interview to state that no dragon would ever have more than two legs and two wings, citing birds and pteranodons on earth. He is quite adamant about this worldbuilding aspect, which is why I do not think the Ancient Dragons were born of the Crucible, but were artificially made, perhaps even by Metyr. They have hands, four limbs, and four wings, and their dragon stone scales twist Time around them. What else twists Time around it? Black Holes. Who uses black holes in-game? Metyr. Metyr did not employ Marika as her first puppet goddess, but likely tamed the Lands Between with other forces. Another thing: all Elden Lords are made from two or more entities. Consort Radahn is made from Radahn's soul and Mohg's body. Godfrey is made from Hoarah Loux and Serosh. Essentially, the Elden Lord is the embodiment of reconciled forces who were formally opposed, much like a marital alliance to prevent further martial aggression. So what was Placidusax made from? Multiple drakes and dragons, most likely. That is why Placidusax has four heads and why each head resembles the head in the Dragon Temple. His heads look more like a Drake's head than an ancient dragon's head. He is an amalgamated embodiment of aggregate alliances, which is likely why Bayle wished to destroy him. Also, Martin stated in his interview that no dragon would have more than one head and that the Targayrean symbol was metaphorical, not a reference to a three-headed dragon. This indicates how Placidusax was artificially created from more natural entities.

      @@EldenTales thank you for your content. Truth be told, it has been ages since I read ASOIF and seeing your videos refreshed my memory of it, as well as the obvious (on further reflection) parallels to ER. Also wanted to point out that the strange thing about the Greater Will is his obsession with Hands. Astel is a naturalborn (byblow) of the void and he has humanoid hands, too, as do the ancient dragons. They both also have two sets of wings, which makes me think they were all created by the GW rather than through evolution. Sometimes I wonder if the GW is alike to the Three Eyed Raven and is simply some ascended entity that gained enough power to become godlike through its connection to a "network" (Weirwood trees or Primeval Current). I do not know.

      @@falgalhutkinsmarzcal3962 that is a very interesting theory about the GW being similar to the Three Eyed Crow, especially with how the final boss arena showcases an Erdtree network, akin to the weirwood net theory. In part 1 of this series I edited out a bit about the connection of hands/fingers found in both narratives (Elden Ring & ASOIAF). In Elden Ring there are the two fingers (order) & three fingers (chaos), together they create a balanced hand (Hyetta, One Great), finger readers, fingercreepers, finger weapons (Ringed Finger, Gazing Finger, Finger Seal), hand weapons (Poisoned Hand & Madding Hand), plus the hand depicted on the Candletree Wooden Shield. While in ASOIAF there are the The Fingers (location), Lord Littlefinger (Petyr Baelish), The Hand of the King (the first Hand, Orys, resigned after losing his hand in battle), Tower of the Hand, The Hand's Fingers (the Hand's personal guard), Jamie Lannister's golden hand, plus the leaves of the weirwood resemble blood stained hands. In addition, within the Lands Between the Four-Toed Fowl Foot states that having only three digits is seen as a bad omen (Three Fingers), so finding a four-toed foot is considered good luck. While the Cinquedea states that the design celebrates a beast's five fingers, symbolic of the intelligence once granted upon their kind. Astel's hands could relate to Primeval Sorcerer Lusat, as both relate to the primeval current (primordial black hole). Plus inside of Astel's cracked skull is an item that looks similar to Lusat's Glintstone Crown, which states this crown replaced Lusat's brain and skull altogether.

      @@EldenTales that all makes sense to me. I wanted to add that the Three-Eyed Raven only has one eye in his actual head, as do many of the things that seemingly serve the GW in ER. For instance, Metyr has only one eye, and Astel has one gigantic eye in its skull. The Fell God has only one eye, too, but I do not know if he served the GW or if he was the original god of the LB before it was colonized. Melina, Messmer, St Trina (torch), Mohg, Brynden Rivers and Euron Greyjoy all follow the one-eyed blueprint of supernatural power. It gave them "insight" others lacked. Interestingly, the Fell God resides in the bodies of its worshipers (fire giants, trolls) perhaps indicating an entheogen being ingested for the Fell God to be born in the body of his worshipers. This reminds me of Bran ingesting Jojen paste to become a stronger Greenseer. When Bran uses the Weirwood network he also goes "blind" (in the show, at least) not unlike how so many Empyreans, prophets, Nox, and Oracle Envoys are blinded/veiled to prevent immediate sight so they can "see" other planes of existence or invisible beacons (Hyetta seeing the Frenzied Flame). Messmer blinds himself during his 2nd phase transition to remove the Grace, but also so he can only see through the Abyssal Serpent. Maliketh gives us his Beast Eye in vers 1.00. Another weird hand coincidence is that Metyr's name could be interpreted as "Met-Tyr". "Met-" is a Greek prefix that means "beyond" (Staff of the Beyond) and Tyr is the Norse god that lost his HAND to Fenrir while trying to prove his loyalty while the other gods enchained Fenrir to prevent Ragnarok. I think the GW sent Metyr (his Hand of the King, so to speak) to tame the beasts in the LB. Metyr was a sacrifice to not only give Beasts hands (and dragons, in my headcanon), but to make worshipers of them and thereby tame them.

    • @EldenTales
      @EldenTales 2 месяца назад

      @@falgalhutkinsmarzcal3962 I enjoyed your notion of Metyr being a quasi-Hand of the King, & I agree the sacrifice of eyes for knowledge is found throughout the narrative of Elden Ring. In my next video I go over how skinchangers are seemingly able to intensity their abilities in ASOIAF when surrounded by darkness, like Bran in the Winterfell Crypt, or Arya being blinded while training in The House of Black & White. Your mention of eyes reminds me of the Boash'i, followers of Boash (aka the Blind God). Their priests wore eyeless hoods in honor of their god, as they believed that only in darkness their third eye would open, allowing them to see the "higher truths" of creation that lay concealed behind the illusions of the material world. As you mentioned the Golden Order, Nox, & glintstone sorcerers all use blindfolds as well (Prophet Blindfold, Night Maiden Twin Crown, Nox Swordstress Crown, Hierodas Glintstone Crown, Haima Glintstone Crown). Fantastic additions!

    This might be hugely unpopular....parallels and inspirations are fun to find within Fromsoftware games but trying to gain story conclusions from them will often lead you astray. Many of inspirations are obvious to see whether taken from GRRM, or Kentaro Miura, or Norse Mythology, or anywhere else, but Elden Ring characters are Elden Ring characters. For example, similar elements between Godfrey and Robert Baratheon are easy to pick up: the battle axe/hammer, Stormveil/Storm's End, warrior spirit, loss of grace, etc but at their core they are different characters written for different purposes. It would be silly for GRRM as an author to write Robert Baratheon again in a completely different story. Many in-game details points to contrary themes of characters from their original inspirations. Miquella is not Griffith, Godwyn is not Azor Ahai.

      THIS. 💯💯 I feel like drawing inspirations, from a piece of Arts’ authors, is incredibly important to derive implications for the story. But never is it responsible to assume that the authors, especially those of whom that are as respected as they are in Fantasy (Martin and Miyazaki), would copy/paste characters into other stories. Not even Miyazaki, who’s known for reiterating on concepts and using similar character motifs, has ever copy/pasted a character in any of his stories. Sure, Both Martin and Miyazaki are explicitly known for reusing concepts and character motifs in their respective stories, but never will they straight up translate one character of one story to another character in another story. You’ll never find an “answer” if you draw one-to-one comparisons For example. When Martin created Malenia, he could’ve had MANY inspirations for her character from anything other than ASOIAF, but to me personally - what stood out to me, my interpretation, of what ASOAF characters could’ve inspired her story - she was not a single translation of one character, but of multiple. *Early years* malenia reminds me a lot of early Arya. Both use the concept of “flowing water” (I.e- Dancing) to fight instead of the traditional technique; both were trained by a foreign swordsman, who trained them said dancing technique. *Then* there are parts of Malenia that Reminds me of Brienne of Tarth, and how both women have unfathomable devotion to their lord, often referred to as a Sword. *then* what stood out to me the most is her similarity to Jaime Lannister, and how they both committed what would be considered a devious act in how Jaime slays the King and how Malenia nukes caelid. But how both events are actually “important”, in one way or another, to “saving” the world. Both characters end up getting mocked by public. Jaime being labelled “Kingslayer” and Malenia being referred to as a severed harpy (Shaded castle), while also being given the title of “Malenia the Severed” (Stillwater cave). Mind you, going back to the original point, despite Malenia seemingly being influenced by these characters - they 👏 are 👏 not 👏 the 👏 same 👏 characters 👏 at 👏 their 👏 core 😭 Point is, there are multiple inspirations for every character. There is most DEFINITELY more inspirations for Malenia than the three that spoke out to me. And not to even mention the Miyazaki side of the equation, and the many touches of influences HE also likely had on Malenia in the final product. Much like the game’s themes, it’s like an alchemical process lol. They’re all a melting pot of many inspirations and influences that end up telling a unique story of a character as a result of the alchemical process lol

Although Godfrey the First Elden Lord & Robert Baratheon the First of His Name share an odd amount of similarities I agree that they are completely separate entities written for completely separate narratives. In the Hedge Knight when Dunk first sees the Kingsguard he describes them in a way that reflects the Others. The Kings Guard was created by Aegon the Conqueror, who received the prophetic Prince that Was promise dream. The Kingsguard, all in Snow White armor and cloaks, represents the Others and Ice and they guard the lineage of Targaryen Kings, the blood of the Dragon and Fire. Godfrey’s Crucible Knights always reminded me of the Kingsguard, especially since we see some turn traitor and ally with factions like the Recusants I’m not sure if there is anything to go on there but the duality of the Royal Family and their Guards may be something to look at in Elden Ring

      @JackisaMimic of course, thank you for sharing it with me! Fantastic connection between the Kingsguard & Godfrey’s Crucible Knights. In the past I briefly speculated about the Crucible Knights & how interesting each of their journeys are. Few continue to honor their vow to Godfrey by serving the Golden Lineage, some seek a new lord befitting of their strength & others began a search for the Crucible's origin. Two Crucible Knights are found protecting the Auriza Hero's Grave, the tomb of Godwyn the Golden (Golden Epitaph), as he was Godfrey’s son & thus a part of the Golden Lineage. Side note Auriza may be derived from Auri, a name whose meaning is golden. There are also two knights in Nokron, Eternal City, near Devin by the aqueduct. Rogier's Letter mentions Devin stating that he stood before the Prince of Death not far beyond that spot. Albeit speculation the knight's could be looking for Godwyn Prince of Death. The knight's located in Stormveil tie into Godfrey’s past association with the castle, plus the castle houses the last of the Golden Lineage (Godrick). Other Crucible Knights altered their vow to serve a new lord following Godfrey's death/banishment; their new lords are linked to other members of the royal family (Radahn & Rykard). Which is reminiscent of how during the Dance of the Dragons the Kingsguard split between knights serving King Aegon II Targaryen and Queensguard serving Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen, both members of the royal Targaryen family. Siluria is found in the Deeproot Depths; her location could be related to finding the source of the Crucible, like Devonia, as she is found near the roots of the Erdtree/Great tree (also somewhat near Godwyn's body). Devonia searches for the Crucible's origin in the Land of Shadow. The Crucible Knight looking towards Mohgwyn Palace could be following in Devonia's footsteps as the palace contains Miquella & he acts as a portal to the Land of Shadow. The Crucible is physically represented with draconic features & we find another Crucible Knight in Crumbling Farum Azula, again possibly relating to searching for the Crucible's origin. Until you mentioned it I had never noticed the Kingsguard's obvious association with white: They are referred to as white swords, or white cloaks due to their appearance of all white cloaks and intricate suits of white enameled scales. Their chambers, White Sword Tower, contains white wool hangings that decorate its whitewashed stone walls, and a white shield mounted over the hearth. They met in a circular white room in the tower at a large weirwood table carved in the shape of a shield supported by three white stallions. Within this room sits the White Book, a tome that records the deeds of every member who has ever served in the three hundred year history of the Kingsguard. It is made of fine white vellum pages bound between covers of bleached white leather. As far as the connection between the Kingsguard & the White Walkers the only information I could find is related to the creation of order by Queen Visenya Targaryen after a Dornish assassination attempt. She deliberately modeled the Kingsguard vows of holding no lands or title on the ancient vows of the Night's Watch. The Night's Watch is a military order dedicated defending the realms of men from what lies beyond the Wall. The order's foundation dates back to the Age of Heroes, at the time when the White Walkers were pushed back. A final note I found interesting was the stark contrast of the Kingsguard & the Night’s Watch. The Kingsguard protect the king, dress in white, & reside in the south (King's Landing); while the Night’s Watch protect the realm, dress in black & reside in the north (the Wall).
