I'm new to the scene w MJ - pointed this way via Waxahatchee like so many others, I assume. I love Pavement and see references to their sound but I'm not hearing it. I definitely here Son Volt & early Wilco and Dinosaur Jr. though. Lyrics are pulling me in further.

This kid is literally young enough to be my fucking son, but he's the saviour I've been waiting for. All of his new songs sound like they were recorded in 1994, and I almost can't believe they're fucking new. Probably gonna spend a fortune to stay in Toronto for a night next month so I can see him in as small a venue as Lee's Palace. Goddamn, he's good.
