I am just coming out of yet another cycle of depression. Im so embarrassed about how disgusting my house and car got but i just felt so horrible and exhausted until now that everytime i started cleaning i had to stop. Im just powering through it and im so tired but if i dont finally clean now, my landlord will deff kick me out. at least my place is better than how my last apartment looked when i was depressed. It’s surprising how depression can control and decimate everything fun and happy in your life. 😢 be strong everyone we got this!!!!

My best advice is to keep the owners as involved as possible as you make decisions about where to put things and declutter BEFORE organizing so the owners don’t have to redo a lot of the work you’ve done or, even worse, aren’t able to keep up with the systems you’ve implemented because they don’t work for the owner. This happened to me when I had someone clean and organize while I was going through cancer treatment and it was great but it has taken me months to find things and go through all the things that should have been thrown out instead of shuffled around and put back in the cabinets, closets, etc. I paid them way too much to have to redo the majority of it myself. Communication would have saved me a lot of stress!

A thought from Midwest Magic Cleaning. Their son Jason is expecting and asks that people make a cash donation to bring his house up to baby worthy. So why not specify something like that? Esp if you have enough things for the first years. I was surprised to learn that some folks don't host baby showers for new borns if the family already has had a child which I find odd, do you? You mention that it's been awhile since you had a baby around. I learned recently that car seats have gone up incredibly in price and actually need to be installed so you might need something that would be a big ticket item (the regs are always changing on cribs, play pens, walkers, high chairs, etc. so asking for cash for those items would be a way for folks to give you an affordable gift and for you to spend it to get what you need --- assuming enough folks actually can do the no presents, cash please routine). Wishing you a happy pregnancy!

I’m 75 and I did toy rotation with my girls 50 years ago. After Christmas we went through their toys and picked some out and I put them away. It was like Christmas in July.❤

I got rid of ALL my craft supplies to a girl's guide group, and all my plant pots etc to a school that was starting it's own little garden, I live in an apartment with a balcony and Im having it minimal now, also the crafts I hadn't touched for 3yrs 🤔 Manchester, England 💐

I always say IF you can afford something new or second hand that will make your life easier, then buy it !! I have my stand mixer, slow cooker, hand mixer, toasty machine, bread machine in the wardrobes in my Son's old bedroom 😁 I'm just glad I have that space. 💐

You can use that big blue pan for chicken, turkey, ham... so many things. I actually use my crockpot for pot roast because my husband likes it better that way.😊

A friend of mine put her items on a table at the end of her driveway with lots of free stuff on it. Someone pulled up and took all the free stuff off the table placing the items on the grass and took the nice table. Just put items on an old blanket. Don’t use a table you want to keep.

I have 7 kids 12 and under, and we homeschool too. I think the more kids you have, the more minimal you have to be. Capsule wardrobes for the kids, only enough dishes to get through one day, very limited toys etc... but the part that makes all the difference is the routines. Every night after dinner everyone has an area to tidy, I go around and check the areas and sweep the floors and everything gets put away in every room. When you are very minimal it doesn't take long! But starting everyday in a fully reset house is a game changer!

Diapers and wipes. Or gift cards so you can buy baby things later on when you need them. Or no gift bags just clear storage containers with gift inside. No cards just a favorite book with a sweet message for baby.
