Eye relief or $700 mistake? Boox Tab Ultra C Review
The last VR I had was the HTC Vive. The 3s is great for me. 😅
Btw, I didn't get it. Are you a tech enthusiast or not? 😁 Thank you for such a detailed review. My desire to upgrade from Quest 2 is almost gone. I don't use VR as often, so it is probably not worth it. Maybe Visor will be better in terms of work experience. Although, I don't fancy their idea of a subscription
😆😆. Thanks for taking the time to watch! Yea, I'd argue if you don't use VR often it's probably not worth unless you really want the updated visuals/games. IMO, at this point, it's better waiting it out for 6 months to see the new headsets on the horizon.. Valve Deckard, Immersed Visor, Google/Samsung XR duo (and any other headsets that are spawning because of Android XR - which should be a few), and then Meta OS also has some spinoffs, I think I saw that ASUS is working on a headset that could have better specs than the Quest 3. In other words, tons of new headsets on the horizon so worth waiting it out to see what drops and how the reviews go!
27:46 Thanks for that note. I believe passthrough experience would be good enough for a similar task
Guest 3 is kinda like a pro VR player headset While Quest 3S are for newcomers
I still have a Quest 3S tho
Jesus love you all so much, he can save us all❤️✝️
well the infered lights problem should have been fixed automatically with the newest batch of quest 3...
They definitely had time to swap out that depth sensor (which they admit isn't useful) with some IR lights. It was probably too expensive to change this late in the game.
This is by far the best reviews of the Q3! Thanks for this! I originally got a Q3s but I upgraded to a Q3 because of the lenses and the Space
Appreciate that! And yes, last month I dropped a video on 3 vs 3S and you've made the right choice =)
I was wondering the real difference between lenses and you helped me to visualize in 2:45 Really helpful, thanks!
Glad to hear it was helpful! I'm working hard to find a better way to film accurately through the lenses to show the differences more accurately, but it's difficult because of how cameras work.
hey, watching this video one year later, i bought a quest 3 and honestly while not crisp and high resolution like the ads imply, im able to read my monitor and phone just fine over passthrough, its like an iphone 4s camera quality in my eyes, did they fix it through software or hardware?
4:00 welcomed to my daily life with astigmatism
My standard of quality pass-through is whether or not I can read my phone, tablet and QWERTY keyboard….without a spotlight.
Phone and tablet are viable! Keyboard will depend too much on external/ambient lighting for me to say, but I for reference I need to have my streaming or monitor lights on to see my keyboard well; without them its just too dark (I can still make it out mostly because my keys light up, but I can't actually read any of it). Meta had made improvements to deal with lights better so you get less blowout from your phone/tablet (and if you find its too much still, then you can reduce the brightness in your devices).
@@aline.tech.reviews - Thanks for the reply. I’m thinking of getting a Quest 3 for portable productivity on-the-go which would have me interacting with the real world frequently. It’s good to know that screens show up easily at least. Your videos have been very helpful.
@Nightowl427272 - Glad to hear it! If you have a little more budget, I think my recommendation would be to hold out 3-6 more months (if you can). The Immersed Visor is on the way along with the Samsung/Google and other XR headsets. There's a high focus on productivity at the moment due to the Apple Vision Pro nailing it so perfectly. A lot of these upcoming headsets are rumored in the $800-1200 range (but should provide a better experience for producitivity). If you want to game at all though, even as a secondary use cas, definitely go for the Quest 3!
Just bought one today, I’m fine with the Augmented Reality but I feel pretty nauseous if I play VR where I’m moving around a lot.
What you're experiencing is fairly normal - most people will get used to it after a while, a few can't and it means they simply don't enjoy VR. Google some tips on how to manage it. There's a lot of good info out there. Also, most games have "training wheels" that you can enable for motion sickness and they make it obvious in the settings. Be sure to take a break whenever you start feeling sick to let your brain reset. You'll eventually get your VR legs!! I still get motion sick in games like Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, where I'm flying across a city really quickly and looking around a lot, but nearly every other experience I've gotten used to after just a couple weeks of playing.
I belive quaz more
I don't know who that is, but what are you believing? Edit: polish youtuber quaz9?
@aline.tech.reviews yes
I don't speak polish, but it doesnt look like he has a video comparing the two..
what even was the point of the s model?
It's positioned as n entry-level headset - effectively a replacement/update for the Quest 2. Easy way for Meta to hang onto old manufacturing processes and try to get the headset into the hands of more people with a cheap price.
I plan to use this for competitive firearms training. I need to the most accurate feel possible. 3s or 3?
It's a tricky question, I vote Quest 3. Both use the same controllers and have the same tracking algorithms. Quest 3 has much better visuals, meaning visual acuity and perioheral vision will be greatly improved. Quest 3S has IR emitters on the front which help it track your hands a bit better in low light/the dark - accuracy may be a little improved but hard to tell - and you can get a IR attachment for the Quest 3 or just get one to place on your desk for $15 to do the same thing (and therefore keep the best of both worlds) Both have major deadzones below the headset though - example in games my right hand holding a rifle will cause the but of the gun to glitch out because it cant track my controller that far back.. same if your controllers go too low/to your sides if you're trying to like quick draw in the wild west. In both cases, you'd probably want to check out the Quest Pro controllers ($250). They track themselves so they can track outisde the headsets dead zones.
@@aline.tech.reviews Thank you for the thorough answer. Have you heard of anyone using thew ACE VR shooting trainer and how it works with the Quest? I am going to be buying their PX365 controller to train with. I will check out how the compatibility with their pro controllers works with ACE. Thanks again.
fkc why did I bought quest 3 before watching this 😠
not me not seeing this video and then buying the 3s because i thought it was the best one
unrelated but your hair is amazing🗿cant stop looking at it
For first time VR user like me I’m planning on getting the 3S
Solid choice for a first time - it is less of a risk in the event you don't end up using it. A lot of headsets end up on shelves a month after purchasd.
@@aline.tech.reviews I know for a fact that I’ll be using it for a long time, it’s just that I would prob prefer spend the 200 dollar on the extra accessories like the straps and extra batteries and more Plus I’m not picky about the lens that much since I don’t even know the standard of “good graphic” in vr so anything from any headset will exceed my expectations xD
the prices dont work... i need to pay 500€ for a 3 128gb
give me the link, 300$ for a q3??? on ebay theyx costs 400-500
What country are you in?
@ germany
Ah yea, those were US availabilities and prices. I've heard from others that it's much harder to find used units in the EU (I hadn't accounted for that in my video, I was basing on US/CA availability).
The entire lineup barely seems like a big step up from the last gen. I bet if they had more serious competition, they would've made something worth buying...
Still rocking an old samsung odessy plus WMR VR headset. Best $500 i ever spent. tracking leaves alot to be desired, but the AMOLED display with 1600p with SDE-Free Structure technology makes it literally ELIMINATE screendoor(doubles the perceived res w/o any performance hit). I love this, but now can't unsee it in EVERY OTHER headset. SO until someone else implements a similiar anti-screendoor effect, or a native 3200p per eye headset for under 1,000, I'll be stuck using this and hope it doesn't burn-in on me.
Oh, yea they don't make them anymore right? I've never tried one on myself so I don't have a point of reference. However, someone else in the comments was also mentioning it and even how well designed the controllers were vs. the Quest variants.
Why did you call the pancakes infamous?
Used the wrong word - did it a couple times in this video without realizing. I think when talking about HL:Alyx
@@aline.tech.reviews Yeaaahh once you used it for Alyx im like surely he didn't mean that. haha. Just finished the video. Its been over a year now have you made a follow up yet? Personally just bought Q3 and it arrives on friday.
@ - lololol, yea quite embarrassing for almost a million people to have seen that 🙈 I've got a Quest 3 vs 3S video that dropped last month, it effectively confirms the Quest 3 is the way to go and why I still think the Q3 is the best choice. I'm working on a 1 year later video.. but I'm not sure if I should focus it on all the updates Meta made over the past year or what. They've made a ton of updates in this past 15 months, but overall my thoughts on the headset are the same - I still think it's the best bang-for-your buck headset available. They've only made it better, but there's a limit to how much better it can get (e.g., it's primarily quality-of-life software improvements). I can't tell if people would be interested in listening to me list off a bunch of software updates over the year or not.
If you go with a Quest 3 512gb, I highly recommend using a flip up style halo type head gear with batteries in back for balance of weight. This allows you to remove the light blocking face surround pad completely. This is an absolute game changer when it comes to heat around face. You now have free air flow around your face. You also maintain a little peripheral vision which makes the vr immersion slightly more realistic.
Second this! I find it hard to play super active games like this, because that headstrap moves around on my head a lot, but it's perfect for watching movies, working on your PC, or low-effort games that don't require a lot of quick moving around.
Thank you for sharing the true experience. it's really difficult to find review videos that talk about in-depth product experiences. Most of them just talk about the good side of the product. But this one is really helpful.
I'm glad to hear it was helpful! Thanks for taking the time to watch. =)
I really like your videos, but please, do something with audio. You are way quieter than any other YT content.
Appreciate the feedback! I'll take a look and figure out what's happening there - I was matching RUclips's LUFs settings.
pov: me at the start of the ideo "YAY MY HEADSETR IS GONNA BE AWSOME! also me 2 mins later "awwww ): " yes im getting one for my bday
😆😆 . You're still going to have a blast - especially if it's your first headset!!
@ I have a super il quest two but gla to hear it still good!
Is there a follow up?
I've got one in the queue! Spoiler: it's is still holding up great, still able to support my head/weight, and I bought a second one in Dec 2024 to go on my other Embosy chair in my studio - so confirmed I would buy again. Great addition IMO. I did notice I use it less now than I did at the start, for no reason other than I think the chair has helped my posture and encouraged me to sit more upright. But, I still use it multiple times a week and wouldn't want to be without it.
Us Australians having them cost $499 and $799 😢
🤯🤯
No VR - get the quest 3S Quest 1 - get the quest 3S Quest 2 - get the quest 3 Quest pro - wait for quest 4 Quest 3 - wait for quest 4 Quest 3S - wait for quest 4S
Not true about the lenses. I've compared quest 2 and 3. Fresnel is excellent.❤ Fresnel vs pancake lenses difference is minor, yes pancake are slight improvement but not noticeable in practice unless you LOOK for it. My quest 2 is very clear. I don't see what the fuss is about, I'm sure the 3s must have lenses as good as the quest 2, which were excellent. People exaggerate.
primo
🙌
I am interested in vr, but honestly my biggest problem is this being a meta product
Definitely hold out, then! VR is still in the "early" days and only just now expanding - this year is projected to be a massive influx as there's like 10 new VR headsets hitting the market (each built for different purposes and unique form factor). If you can hold out for like 6-12 months, you should have a better selection to choose from. You'll never be able to be the price for performance of Meta, though, they just have too much money to burn and can offer more for way cheaper.
Hi. I still have the Quest 2 and suffer from massive stick drift, but it seems that one either has to disassemble the controller and go through a whole bunch of mess to fix it or buy another controller which is upwards of $150! Ridiculous! So do you know if the Quest 3 has stick drift problems and/or easier solutions to fix them if they do come about?
Where do you live? A refurb replacement controller here is $69 USD direct from Meta. However, you can get an entire Quest 2 + controllers for like $100-120 USD on the used market. I'd try that vs. trying to get *just* the controller - that way you have another backup controller and a backup headset lol. IIRC, the Quest 3 uses the same general stick build and layout, so not much has changed there. I haven't had any issues, but a quick Google search can show that you folks do run into the same issue. Most Quest 3's are still under warranty at this point so it'd be easy to get a replacement. Quest 2 controllers will continue to get more expensive (since they're no longer manufactured) while Quest 3 controllers get cheaper.
@ thanks!
🛜 Wireless !!! When can we expect Good VR solution to play Alyx wirelessly?
Quest 3 is as good as it gets right now! I'd guess this year or next we'll have a competitor. I think it's worth waiting to see if Valve releases Deckard in the next 4-6 months.. and, if not, Pimax has their 60G wireless module releasing which should pair with their Super/Dream headsets.
@@aline.tech.reviews cant believe its almost 4 four years ago I played ALYX with the INDEX, that was total awsome, but I sold the INDEX after 6 months again because of the cable, I thought it would take just another 6 month or so until a good wireless solution would appear 😄 I gave upafter 2 years.. 🤐 so just so happy seeing that it is finally about to happen🥳 looking forward for Deckard
Visor Founders Edition = $300 extra to be a beta tester. No thanks. I'll wait for people to receive this product in its final form, after all the hardware tweaks that are sure to come during the FE days.
Yea, definitely DO NOT pull that trigger if you're not deep into the VR ecosystem and actively wanting to test/provide feedback (it's the reason I don't have my referral code or anything in these video descriptions). The reason I do it is to get that ground-level experience with the teams - almost like research for the profession of being a reviewer lol. CEO and company have compared their planned manufacturing rollout to that of Tesla, suggesting the FE's are version 1.0 and hardware improvements 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, etc. will be made with each iteration to fix issues we find and improve performance. I'm willing to bet the FE's are going to have overheating and battery drain issues, based on what we've seen to date and the small form factor.
Men fan vad du snackar. Jag försöker supa skallen av mig jag här i Sverige
I put this into Google Translator and still don't 100% understand.
We got 3s last night, its astounding! For a first time vr player, its blew me away. Been thinking about getting playstation vr2, but was worried about motion sickness, so didnt want to drop 500 quid on one. 280 quid for quest 3s was a bargain! My wife is hogging it tho, so i might need to get my own!!!
Getting your own may actually be the perfect solution - they have a handful of mixed reality multiplayer games now that you could play together!
blurr... maybe the backrooms game will be awesome to play with
Ok, here's some stuff that happens with the Quest 3 that virtually no one speaks about and that is the expensive hand controllers. The quality of the Quest 3 is pretty good, certainly a lot better than the Quest 2., however, while I had no problems with the Quest 2 my Quest 3 controllers suck. Trying to get a replacement from Meta is a total nightmare. With 1st contact they are all honey and roses with there (what seems to be) great attitude apologizing and promising you anything you want. My miserable experience with the Meta techs was VERY disappointing. I was sure I would get my OOW (Out Of Warranty, yes, the warranty is only a crummy year, be careful)) hand controller ($49) in a week or so. Here is what really happened. After the first tech, I had dealings with 5 other techs followed, all with made up names, names you cannot spell even if you wanted to , a total of 6. Every time I spoke with a tech, I got another one, and then another one, yada, yada, yada. I'm stopping here. It's been almost 2 months and I have Squat from Meta, no controller replacement. I think they play game hoping you will give up and quit trying so they can increase their profits. META, Never for me again...Bye... I am also looking at other brands...
I still have a quest 1 andit is not great but it works and I use pc vr so I dont mind any of that but now the quest 1 has problems with pc vr I might change it but like I dont have that mutch money to throw away
Yea, if what you have works for your use case then there's no need to upgrade! There are many more headsets hitting the market soon, the longer you wait, the better options you'll have available for an upgrade.
i upgraded from a q2 to a second hand q3 and i initially felt like i wasted my money, thinking q2 is probably still fine cuz i use it with my pc, until i put on the new headset, the visual quality is 100% worth
Yea, most definitely! I wish there was an easier way to explain to folks how good the visual quality improvement is.
I was really good at 11 table tennis on quest 2. On quest 3 I'm terrible, it doesn't perform the same plus the music in beatsabre is farty the sound isn't as good for sure, it has clearer graphics but not much different... and pass through mode is grainy. I was abit disappointed
15:52 thats only true in America, because in my country they are 700 the quest 3 and 355 the quest 3s And yes, it you buy it on ebay they charge you the shipping 150 dollars, and custom's takes another part of you're money
I get the feeling that you just want an excuse to complain about meta like everyone else
You don't need an excuse for that. But also, 0 seconds of this video is complaining. Maybe watch it before you start yapping
@ sorry
The video was good
Excellent review. Subbed
Truly appreciate that, thank you!
Am geting the 3s in like 4 months. I dont have the money for meta 3 lol
Lol, it's all good - you'll still have a blast with the 3S!
The 3S is amazing for 299 you can't lie.
Literally said it multiple times in the videos. Can't even tell if half of you bother watching before commenting.
Great video but are we sure it can’t break the chair and void the warranty ?
I can't put links here, but there's a Reddit post where an Atlas rep replies with all the details: from what I recall (memory - please go read the post), they originally stated that Herman Miller had once agreed as such, then Herman Miller asked them to remove it from their website (suggesting that is it not 100% set in stone). Therefore, I think the final answer is "no" - we are not 100% certain and there is no backing claim. So if it were to break your chair, Herman Miller *could* reject your claim - but seems like there's also local laws in place based on what can/cant apply in terms of third-party accessories (way over my head). IMO, there's enough of these headrests in the wild that have been used for a year+ now without issue. I've even purchased a second for a second chair and again have no issues. From a personal standpoint, I think it's safe and HM has been an awesome company in terms of refunds/replacements (it's just not a guarantee).
@ Alright, will look, thank you!
