You are a saint sir. I paid Morris Jenkins about ~$90 to diagnose the issue. They were great and looked over my entire system and took me up to the attic and pointed at the exact motor and said “that’s the issue right there.” At first I was going to have him replace it while he was here and it was going to cost ~$850(in addition to the $90 I just paid for diagnosing) When the technician went out to get the part from his truck I did a quick google search. Angie’s List estimated this exact repair should cost $250-$450 for parts and labor. I saw that the replacement motor was on Amazon for $120. So I told the technician that I had changed my mind. He was pretty chill about me waffling and gave me some other HVAC maintenance tips before I left. I was counting on finding a video just like yours that would walk me through the process and man was I glad when I found your video and saw how easy it was going to be to replace. You helped save me ~$700! And swapping the part took only ~15 minutes once I was up in the attic with all my parts and some scrap boards to squat on (trying hard not to put a foot through my ceiling.) So morris jenkins was charging nearly $3000/hour in labor. (That’s assuming it took the trained professional the same amount of time it took me. Also not taking into consideration their travel time, which I’m not since I already paid them $90 to come to my house for the diagnosis)

Always turn power off, because if the life 24v touches the metal, you'll short the fuse in the air handler or burn the transformer. besides that very informative video.

So to clarify when you turn the AC off, it closes the duct. when you turn the zone on and ac is blasting it opens the duct?

Thank you sir. You are a champ! I had 2 techs who quoted me $900 and $600 to replace one of these dampers that costs $100 on Amazon. Ii took me 15 mins to replace it after watching this video. I understand people gotta make a profit but what these guys are charging is boderline unethical.

I also have a 2013 4Runner with the same problem, except mine is cracked and not with a big hole. It was cracked enough for water to get in and short out the bulb. Replacement lens are surprisingly cheap. I wonder if it would be easier if you remove the tire? Thanks for your video. It will save me a lot of money taking it somewhere to have it done.

My wall opener is saying replace battery. I’m not getting the beeping though. What doesn’t make sense is why is the backup battery already bad when I haven’t lost power at all to my house??

I don't believe I ever opened the door on battery power. Might not be worth replacing.

Do you have to reprogram your garage door opener to your clickers or car once you change the battery?
