Nicks Exploration

Welcome to my channel!
I regularly post videos of my adventures exploring old military sites in the north of England. From airfields to abandoned bunkers, I take the camera along with me to record what I find and to keep the history alive. If I can, I also get aerial shots using my drone so the sites can be seen from the air as well as the ground.
I always try to get the landowner's permission before visiting sites and I do not condone or endorse trespass. Any site I visit is open and entry is never forced. Respect for the site is a top priority and I work to preserve the history there is rather than vandalising it.

Flooded WWII bunker!! Forgotten In Time

Here's a quick video of a flooded bunker I came across, lost throughout time and now rediscovered. The camera used was a cheap thing as I killed the gopro on the first attempt at recording this.

RAF Scampton stood on the site of a First World War Royal Flying Corps landing field, which had been called Brattleby. The station was closed and returned to agriculture following the First World War, and reactivated in the 1930s. It has provided an airfield for fighters in the First World War, bombers during the Second World War and V-force Avro Vulcans during the Cold War. The station was temp...

Where am I? What aircraft is this from?
We visited Coleby Grange on a warm summer evening and 2009 and my wife who is sensitive said she didn't pick up on the supposed airman who haunted the roof but at the stairs she said she felt a neck pain, as we prepared to leave we met some more people who were preparing to carry out an investigation and when I told them of what my wife had experienced at the stairs they confirmed that an airman had fallen to his death on the stairs and broke his neck. That would give you confirmation of why you also experienced activity in the stairs area. Keep up the good work and thank you for not playing music and just keeping with the sounds of your natural surroundings.
The stories around that place are quiet disturbing, some are very bizarre. I get why the farmers fed up with folks hes had to put up with a lot. Everything from nutters using it to worship satan and nailing dogs to crosses, to people going missing up round there and the subsequent police involvement. I can see why he left it to rot, you head up there after dark and for whatever reason the atmosphere is thick with unease, really quiet oppressive. I wouldnt want to live up there for sure. Great video.
Believe me. There's nothing I would like to see more than the last survivor of its type fully restored. Any aircraft restoration is costly and time-consuming. But a Beverley? A gargantuan task. But - and ultimately - unless this restoration is under cover, then it's wasted effort and cash. The elements will have the final say and it will end up like Hendon's example. It was hard enough hangaring them when they were in service. Now? I wish everyone luck with this odyssey and sincerely hope everyones' efforts aren't wasted and confounded by the usual curses of aircraft preservation: cost... and weather.
This was originally shown on Forces TV Channel 3 years before you released this. ruclips.net/video/1WQU8Nbdeko/видео.htmlsi=grR72ngVDA2H5yc0
Hi, I'm currently working on a video regarding some folktales surrounding Filey Brigg and I would love to use some of your footage if I may?
Hi yeah no problem. Feel free to use some of the footage 👍
This looks exactly the same as the bunker the bloke shit his pants in when filming for forces tv. *Edit* This is definately the same bunker ruclips.net/video/iYNFfJwsTkk/видео.htmlfeature=shared
I admire folk who are not daunted by such a huge and challenging task. I wish them every success. When I was a child living in Abingdon Beverleys were a common sight flying around on parachutist training flights. Then my family moved a few miles away and not far from Benson and then the skies were then filled with Argosies instead.
I have happy memories of parachuting from the Beverley in UK, Denmark and France during the early 1960's and this aircraft together with the Hastings both were capable of relatively low speeds for parachuting which enabled textbook openings which obviated twists of the rigging. But piston engines meant slower aircraft and longer flight times and being single skinned aircraft, noisy! It is forever to the shame of the Royal Air Force Museum that they ditched the Beverly!
That's a fair old kit you've got there now, perfect for restoration. Looking forward to seeing the aircraft back together and a better life 👍
Such a pity it couldn't have been kept in the county of its birth but thankfully it will survive,.
Hello, your video of the #solwayaviationmuseum dismantling the Xb259 is excellent!❤ I noticed you've previously made videos of the fort using a drone. It would have been wonderful if you had included some new footage in your video. Is there any reason you hadn't?
@mrwhite4780 thank you 😊 I would have included drone footage but my drone no longer work's. Would have been great to get new footage though. I'm now one of the directors here at the Fort and this video was a spur of the moment idea. We have plenty of work to be getting on with but had to atleast document some of the dismantling 😀
The work of @Nick'sExploration is truly remarkable, exhibiting exceptional smoothness and clarity. I had the opportunity to view a prior video that appeared to have been captured using a camera from the same era, albeit with a flashlight serving as a torch. It is unfortunate that the drone encountered damage. While I have always harbored a desire to attempt flying, I acknowledge that I may have exceeded the appropriate age for such recreational activities.
G'day to you! I am so,so Happy to see this Wonderful Old Girl being taken care of, its a Shape so much History is being left to Rot, all She needs is a good bit of TLC, I would love to see it when Restoration is Finished .but 12000ks and 24hr Flight is abit much Nowadays! Peth West Aust.
I admire the efforts of those concerned. At end of day relocation is just delaying the inevitable recycling of the plane. Last time I saw it it was badly corroded.
it wont rot its aluminium .and its not getting scrapped
To the writer of the original comment, she is on her way to restoration, where she will be looked after.
@@lizlawrence4553 yep she is .i saw her in paul airfield in 79
Brilliant work folks! I'm so glad I was able to contribute to the cost of the dismantling and the move. You've done us proud!
My Dad was a loadmaster on one of these in Aden/Africa
I also flew in one in Aden 65/66,one landed at Habylain.
You guys are setting the gold standard on large aircraft recovery!
excellent stuff
Excellent video Nick 👍
It will be nice to see her restored in her new home. Great job on the fort 👍🏼
Gutted I didn't get round to filming the rest of it, nevermind lol great vid mate 👍👍
I appreciate it, you’re more than welcome to do your own video
A treasure .🇬🇧👍
Good video saw my dads yard at 11:00. You definitely see things that you wouldn't see as well from the roads above - the barges, abandoned buildings etc.
Looks like they be using very soon Germany has told there public start building Nuclear Bunkers

I have the complete tales of Beatrix Potter it's 400 pages of her classic stories in one big book 📖 . The place your at is nice to see, thanks for sharing this. It gives me look into the window of Beatrix Potter world. I live in the United States. This is probably in the United Kingdom.
Radar dome
Year 1969 aged eight myself and three friends ran across the base runway,as we were spotted by tower personnel two Vulcans had to abort and do a go around , as the RAF police chased us in two land rovers as we scattered ,needless to say my dad who was an airframe chief on617 gave me a good telling of shall we say but not a beating , never learned what was said to him by the boss, just one of life misdemeanors one might say , still remember the dogs grave to this day ❤😊
I am wanting to fly this when I am next in Filey , I have seen that’s it’s a SSSI did you need to to permission for this flight ?
No you will be fine. Happy flying
Is that why when on a tow truck
big job nick?
Fuel injection pump. I was driving it to the garage to get it refurbished but it completely failed before I got it their 😄 🤣
Is it a 2or 4 stroke engine?
Mate, these fellas used to fly bombers on over Europe night after night to help destroy Hitlers fortress and here you are asking them to toddle off towards the red light, then step away, touch it again, go to the green light, can you chuck a stone, etc.... Bet they're brassed off to fk with this charade you try n make em co opt with... "are you a make, female, flight Sergeants dog'. You still wivus ¿?
If only Colebys WT/CT, had been preserved by a grateful nation at Wars end, for posterity, as indeed could any number of others , in fact as did the Panton Bros, over at East Kirkby, and can be visited as such today
Following the steps of many and doubtless pre many that are to come, whilst it remains. However, there's not many who've been lucky enough to vist, standing up there, and find the airfield before them, apparently active, as it used to be.....
Was the fort armour plated and concrete walls
I'm sure I mention the thickness of the plate in the video but yes that's how it was made
@@NicksExploration nice fort btw
Great job 😊
Looks good. Wish these were common in the states!
Unfortunately I believe they need to be a certain age and be completely original to be exported to the state's. I know the ones that are in the state's already are very expensive
Lovely motor
Bet you still had a smile on your face once you were driving again 🤣🤣
Yeah I sure did. Fuel injection pump has knackered now. Unfortunately no fixing that at side of the road though 😅
Sure you will get it sorted easy enough.
@neilrobinson2385 it's going to garage next week for the pump reconditioning. Hopefully last another 30 years after that
That looks like a Saturn Sk385xl. Where can I get the off brand version?? I want the 15 ft
I got mine off alibaba. Search kaboat etc
I can honestly say in all the years i served in the RAF, every base that i worked had some sort of spooky shit going on, lights going on and off, telephones ringing, guard-dogs freaking out always in the same places, foot steps in the corridors in empty buildings !
Hi I am a pad brat and my mum and Dad would start with the ghost stories about goings on the bases when I was a kid, from hangar doors sounding like they had been shot at by an aircraft to rooms suddenly having all the lights on or doors slamming and as you say every base "especially WW2" would seem to have some sort of unexplained goings on, regards James
@@jamescrook9749 The craziest base i came across was RAF GATOW when i was stationed there, it was an ex Luftwaffe base, seriously spooky place James.
@@AnthonyJones-vk6xq I was based in Dortmund in the 80s (I joined the Artillery) Napier Barracks was also a Luftwaffe Base back in the day, I didn't experience anything personally but did hear some of the old sweats talk of strange bangs and doors slamming, after the Berlin Wall came down places started to close and our base closed too and instead of being mothballed it was given a new chapter and it became the training ground for Borussia Dortmund which I think is great.
@@jamescrook9749 living in what was then BFG was the best James, great memories !
There is another close by if you want the location, its not flooded
Could I have the location please , love exploring these
Went round it about thirty five years ago, i knew someone who lived in there for around seven years. He was a computer whizz kid who lost the plot after hacking the US on the school computer in the mid 80's, he tried to burn down the computer room down after the TV started talking to him and ended up in borstal and then homeless living up there and then in the local woods in a derelict farm for a few years, crazy thing was another kid who i knew quite well was his partner in crime and also went loopy with telekinesis and said ufo/ lights used to talk to him at night. He went on the be legendary at reading reels at amusements and getting banned from them all.
Could this have any possible connection with Russell Bohling?
@@user-wh4gn2bx4x No, these people are in there mid fifties now and both still alive.
Now this could be a small world.... 1st thing.....what a fantastic vid and tour to a iconic part of our history and so close to home. 2nd your friend mike ex RNLI, may know a friend of mine Geoff, fabricator and does alot of work at spurn. Very well known in Humber rescue.

Well done for not divulging the location. Keep unauthorised people and humidity out and it will last decades.
