Thank you for the comment. I got permission from the landowners to fly around the site. The caretaker lives in the control tower I believe but I didn't meet him.
I was watching one around dinner time on the coast today and was thinking to myself I'd like to do that. Excellent! In the footsteps of the Canadians as the airfield was used for heavy bomber conversion
Still tempted to give it a go but due to living in Bridlington Leven would be my preferred choice but wow so expensive to own one now. Thanks for your great Bloggs Nick. ..
@Kaz Kay thank you. Your local to me then. Yes I had a quick look into microlights and yes they are expensive. I'd like to fly over all the wartime airfields. Near us the pilots during the war must have got confused sometimes with Catfoss,Lissett, Carnaby and Driffield so close together especially during night flying
Yes I would imagine so Nick, remember Carnaby Airfield I used to go watch Motorcycle racing there, moved from Leeds to Bridlington over 20 years ago now.
Liked the footage, given the runways still remain, what about other buildings and such, is there much left, did see a couple on the video, wrong country for me to go explore, but its one that I would feel still has a lot to offer, in particular would be curious if the operations block remains, no doubt if it does it will be in private ownership. Anyway appreciated. There are still a few gems dotted around but much is swiftly disappearing take as example RAF Locking, which in prime location isn´t surprising, but even remote places get canned, RAF Tain, had many of its buildings until very recently even though the hangers were long gone many decades ago. On topic hangars RAF Cardington amazing, and for abandoned decay RAF Upwood was good.
Thank you, I think there's a couple buildings left on site but most have gone and nothing really substantial apart from the watch office and runways. It was nice to see the runways intact and I'm hoping to do some more with this site. I'm just waiting for permission which I've been in talks about since January. I've seen some videos of Upwood in the past and looks a good site to look around. Thank you for the comment
I drove around the perimeter of Wombleton once and I got a ticking off from a very self-important jobs worth. Thanks for the lovely camera work.

Great footage again. Nice to see as mentioned before the runways still remain today. So much history.... well done
Yes its great to see the original runways intact. Cheers
Awesome flight mate with some great views
Cheers mate. Got another video out tomorrow with some drone footage of the river 👍

Nice video 👍
Thank you. Do you know what the first thing I thought of as I walked on the runway was? I thought of you and the runway lights 😄
@@NicksExploration Did you see any ? 🤔🤣
@BLOWN8CYLINDER no but I looked lol. They are positioned in like concrete squares just off the main runway right? Every 20/30ft?
