Vincent Price used to punt up the canal on his gondola with Margaret Rutherford. They owned a bucket which they kept in the Town Hall. They used it to shout into when they were making confession at the church. The bucket was also used to collect swans beaks which were always falling off because of all the coal.

Belated happy 40th. Another great video - we sometimes go to the cinema at the top of Leigh Spinners - it has a bar. Both Golborne and Lowton have decent churches and some interesting history.

Born in Leigh in 1955. Went to school with Pete Shelley (real surname McNeish). also in that school year was Matt Aitken of Stock Aitken and Waterman fame. Could not afford a ticket to the Bickershaw Pop Festival, but heard some of the bands playing on the Friday night from outside the site!!

Symbollism and Bimblism who knew? Nice episode Kieran. My ancestors lived in Toxteth Park, in Falkner St. & Cawdor St and family are buried in Toxteth Park Cemetery. Some of the children are buried in the mass paupers' grave.

I enjoyed that Kieran, especially the lift ride at the end. I have a question, when you’re riding on those long paths, do you ring your bell as you come up behind people? Or are they psychic to your presence?

Many years ago when I worked on the Tarmac we were doing a job in Leigh.A bloke asked us to tarmac his back yard as a foreigner, we did! And that chap turned out to be Georgie Fames dad!.
