Did you know ? Vlad Vodka once had a prize For Raffle, 1st was 1 weeks holiday in Warrington. 2nd was 2 weeks Holiday in Warrington! LMFAO. Born in WA4 Love these Vids.
Great v,log Kieran. The railway bridge near Morley Common is known as 12 arches. Walton Old Junction used to be a busy freight yard, now long gone and lifted.
I remember walking across that viaduct as a kid and looking down at the shippy through the big rust holes 👀 also remember fishing footballs out of what was left of the black bear canal by the Stockton Heath swing bridge.
great ride that, my old back yard too. We used to hang around the locks for hours waiting for a boat to come through. Either that of go down to pester the operator at Latchford swing bridge to let us ride on it when it swung. It was driven from a control panel on the centre of the bridge, but not until the basket signals had been hoisted into place. Often got to stand on it as it swung - Love the channel, always learn something new & regularly inspires me to go back for another look at these places
An old work mate used to do the bridge at Latchford, Iv'e spent a few hours in the cabin where the controls are, the bridges where in a bit of a poor state and very often used to break down, and you can imagine the problems that causes, I read it somewhere that Peel Holdings wanted Warrington Borough to do the repairs! can't see that happening!
Cycled this route many times pal, great circular down to Altrincham along the old railway and back to Warrington via Runcorn bridge on the Bridgewater and Sankey Canal.
Oi.........No cycling on Latchford Locks........😁 Another classic Bimble Mate, done this many times meself, can really lose yourself in this area, it is tremendously interesting. I know I shouldn't ask, but will......Have you been under Acton Grange viaduct nr. Port Warrington? It really is most impressive and well worth a detour off the Woolly Back Loop path.
Peel holdings . Im under the impression that the 12p toll over Warburton ( Stone Bridge ) is set by Act of Parliament. So any increase would be unlawful . ( maybe there would consider swapping names with myself , to Lawless Holdings ) in return i fancy being the better half , to Mrs Peel .

Great stuff! Loved the verdict on Peel Holdings. Never heard it said better.
I was brought up in Appleton, we used to play around there 60 years ago
it was 15 minutes on a bike away, happy days.

Enjoyable as always and well researched. You must be getting sick of wet, muddy tracks and cycleways though. :-( Good luck. (Al Kennett)
Look forward to next TPT trail video going east
