Great advice my brother!
be a therapist
i hate my voice so much
I thought i sounded alright. Then, when i recorded it, I sounded like a constipated mountain goat 💀 instant deletion
Why wouldnt you tou demo how to position the mic and compare the sound? Mindblowing.
I'm also 27 and can really relate to this, thank you for being so open and honest 🙌🏻
Thank you.
Hearing my own recording made me think if I actually can sing or not 😂
My god damn recording on my phone sounds better for me than with the condenser. I hate it
I needed this video <3
you cant teach yourself music without "doing it", and actually good critisim is great, i think.
Thanks 🙏🏼
I don't hate my voice. I hate hearing myself talk. accent, certain letters. which I did not learn correctly as a child at a speech therapist.
My voice sounds amazing but on video it sounds WEIRD XD
I hate my voice because I have vocal dysphoria
I am loving this channel... I created an entire symphony with 22 orchestral instruments with my midi keyboard choir and all and I'm still blown away... I can't play anything but a guitar and little piano it's music theory that got me there and some googling to find out the roles of each instrument I want to sign artists produce them and do same for myself
Motivation is a myth when talking about the gym imo My dog is like a kid.. Hell not bother with me but when I start like clock work he becomes a huge pain in the backside lol
Omg the penny has just dropped by George I think she's got it.... Because I have songs I think yes I did so well with that... And I'll listen again and be like I want to do another solo like that or wow that part really worked with that part.... I know noone can be awful to me about it because it's sweep picking and arpegios are awesome (when used very sparingly)
Subbed subbed subbed subbed ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
For the daw I just used what I needed... Cakewalk Bandlab let's you switch through modes... Start with soñar le which is Now not available then I moved to Bandlab... I love Bandlab but at first I was llke I hate this I want my soñar back Shure sm58 picks up everything but my sm57 is for instruments
The voice i hear in my head 🗿 The voice everyone else hears 🤓🤡
no i havent recorded them HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHHAAHA
But what if your voice just sucks :(
Me with a headset: "Uhh, do I put it here?" *Swallows it*
Good info, Thanks!
Your overlooking polar pattern of condenser that can be various vs dynamic mic being directional and it’s literally rejecting the noise
I agree I record all the time now . I use to hate my voice and I was such OCD fucker to the point I never put songs out that were actually good it’s funny . As I gotten older I just don’t care about perfect anymore . Vibe is more important to me . All that to say I fucking love my voice now 😂😂 and I varying levels of mixing from fully mixed to nothing at all just a voice note and I record everything using my iPhone it does fine only lacks dynamic range depth of good mic but what really matters mostly the iPhone delivers because it can capture a quality sound . If you can actually sing then no problems

Woah
Thank you for making this video this is really helpful to me and I am going to watch this multiple times over because I’m trying to rework the format of my RUclips channel to make it better because I feel my video audio quality could be so much better than it is on my I phone
Thank you 🙏
You are sugar coating it... Musicians are broke for 2 reasons.. Nr1: Their music is shit Nr2: The label riding them dry with that shitty income they getting. Every producer today has a PHD in everything today, look at YT and search something like "How to sound design" or "How to produce a song with Ableton" , you will be overthrown with 100 and 1000's of videos, the next guy acting more clever than the previous....but none of them know shit. The guys on top don't care about big mouths at the bottom. The only reason they are here is to get paid by YT.....If their teachings were true, they would have been way further. You will NEVER find world renowned producers making a video on YT every week or every 2 weeks teaching others what to do and what not to do, how to use this compressor, how to use this eq....no its only the nobodies doing that, because they nee that YT money
If you go into a professional studio to record a vocal track for a major label, they will use the mid/side mic technique, and they use analog gear to record the vocal, which has the parody signal included, so it will sit right in the mix because its a balanced recording. Pro-audio may be mono, but it is still processing 2 channels. L/R signals are considered unbalanced stereo, because true stereo uses 4 channels.. Left, Right, SLeft, and SRight... for mono-compatibility, Left and SRight get summed, as well as Right and SLeft. When the summed channels get summed, it creates the mid channel that is part of your stereo field. Plus if all voice channels are accounted for, you won't lose half your output summing to mono since the side channels cancel your left and right channels creating you mid, so when summed to mono, the mid and mono signals stack doubling to output so when the signal is divided, the output remains constant.
I had never heard about that recording hack, gonna try it today ! thank you !
You're awesome
<3
Editing my own videos helped me a ton actually. I think hearing what annoying mannerisms me in the video did helped me eliminate them and become much more pleasant to listen to. So yeah, exposure therapy. It's hard at first but you really should listen because only you have the power to hear yourself inside and out
This like slap myself and ask those it's hurt 😅 damn the first minutes make me be in shock so my voice is amazing when I sing but when I record means the whole world say that I have ugly voice xdddd
thank you bro
Thanks this has helped a lot and made some positive reinforcement within
I knew this, but hearing it helps. Despite that, it's still going to take a lot to stop hating it.
Had no idea this was about music at the start 😭
Thanks for sharing! Not sure why it just popped up in my recommended videos....but wish I had seen it 9 months ago! Just sharing that in my experience...you've hit the nail on the head here. I have never much cared (as you state is common) for my voice.....But it was never really a thing in my life. Never recorded so rarely had to listen to it back. In February of this year.....at 59 years old...I started a podcast. For the first few episodes I struggled with this immensely. For a time...I even considered perhaps having someone else do the voice work....but had to fight through that because someone else...."telling my story" really didn't make much sense. Fast forward to my 43rd episode....and things are very different. I would not say that "I love my voice".....but I certainly am much more comfortable with it...and it gets better each week. Apparently, I have pushed my way through the submersion therapy you discuss here. So thanks again.....for giving my struggle a name.....and a few more tips on how to continue the journey. Well done Andrew!
I do I fix the nauseating realization that I exist outside my own perception and people can form independent opinions about me when I hear my own voice
the whole familiar vs unfamiliar thing was interesting, but it doesn't make much sense. for example, my brother and my dad also always sound uncanny and weird on phone compared to in real life.
"I used to hate my voice for a really long time, and over the years, I've learned how to not just hate it, but despise it with a burning and animated, explicit passion"
i do live show when i sing i mean i would hear iihhh or you cant sing shouts but i am ok singer people like it when i sing But when i recorded it omg its like i cant descirbe i just cant
i just gotta work on it, like i feel that my performance needs work because i just sound like how it normally talk. Like you know i’m tryna surprise people who listen to my music, not sound boring yu know?
this is the #1 reason I have not been able to work in my own vocals or even do voice overs for videos I want to make. My own voice fucks with me every time and I end up just walking away. The amount of times I've spent weeks making a video for RUclips only to leave it on private and never release it because I couldn't get past my voice. I think exposure therapy is a great idea. I'm going to hate it but I'd imagine once you get past that it really opens up a lot of creative options. Glad I found this video, thanks man
Did not anticipate the first piece of advice in this video being "play the piano with your ears plugged using a stick in your mouth"
