    Great info Richard. As a rule of thumb I generally try and use the shortest bar possible for the job required. I also find after a few hours of work the shorter bar helps with fatigue. I also believe that it's a small two stroke engine so keep that chain speed up. Sometimes I need a big bar....but then I use the bigger saw.... everyone is different but this works for me.

    I can't believe I forgot to add this to the video as well ..all of these echo pro series saws have cross drilled crank shafts at the clutch side , which means no need to take sprockets and drums etc off to grease the needle bearing all you do is use a sprocket grease gun on the end of the clutch side crankshaft and give it a few pumps ........as I said I have had various stihls 028 , 038 , ms 181 , Ms 240 , ms 660 and even the 500i and none of them had that feature😊

    Hi Richard, thanks for the review. I just bought the Shindaiwa version (same saw, basically). What's the Sugi Hara model for the bar you bought? Did you stick with a .325 / 1.5mm (0.058) gauge? Funny, you and I were on the same path wanting either a MS261, 550XP or 501SX. I was lucky to find the Shindaiwa 501SX on run-out very cheap here in Australia. It was exactly half the cost of a MS261 or a 550XP. Came with a 18" bar. I already put a full chisel Stihl chain on it but wouldn't mind getting a shorter 15 or 16" bar for most of my work. I'm struggling to confirm the exact bar mount type. Cheers. P.S. this saw is putting a smile on my face. There is something really special about it. The power to weight and balance is perfect. I'd say it's the perfect saw (for me and my uses).

    • @richardsneddon2976
      @richardsneddon2976 3 месяца назад

      I use 050 325 .. as its a narrower kerf on the cut and easier on the saw . The bar mount is k041 .. and it's echo sugihara bars as sugi branded bars I can only get laminate 050 but they are OK. If you have a look on the site chainsawbars.uk and use the search for echo cs 501sx you will get the bar numbers also there is a download able sugi catalogue on there

      Slight carb difference and the 621 is basically the European version

    • @richardsneddon2976
      @richardsneddon2976 3 месяца назад

      In the uk the older model was called the 620sx and had echo on the bar in red and I think the bar was tsumura and in the usa I think tha was called the 600p or 601p , the current model in the uk is the 621sx and has echo on the bar in black and is a sugihara and I think there is only a few other updates and that model in the usa is the 620p but there is meant to be a slight difference also in carbs

    • @MrGreenjubas
      @MrGreenjubas 3 месяца назад

      @@richardsneddon2976 Why is the 621 heavier by 0.1 kg and less power by 0.1 hp, lower maximum speed and lower consumption of 1.81 l/h instead of 2.05? I think the 621 is slightly strangled to meet European emissions standards. Most likely, screw H of the carburetor is slightly tightened and there is a catalyst in the muffler. In my country there are both models, and I realized that it is better to buy the 620sx, especially since it is 50% cheaper than the ms362, 562xp and 372xp and only 10% more expensive than the 501sx.

      I run 5 echo saws now 4310sx , 2 x 501sx , 621sx and I just bought the 7310sx . I have had stihls , husqvarnas now echos. The earlier stihls just before the m tronic saws were solid saws and probably some of the best saws ever made . The echos are like them I think and I honestly believe having had a ms240 a husqvarna 346xp and 550xp that the 501sx is one of if not the best 50cc saw ever made when you take into reliability, weight and the muffler mod is so easy to do then power as well. By far my favourite saw . I recently did a cylinder and piston on the second one I have , bought it really cheap and it had a lot of heavy use , the piston had some light scoring on it and it still ran well . The parts unfortunately is there only downfall as there is not an aftermarket parts selection like stihl and husqvarna other than that buy with confidence as long as it has a magnesium crankcase or an sx pro model and you will not be disappointed. Wait until you get 10 tanks of fuel through it then tune it up a little as out the box they are always pig rich

There is nothing wrong with the saw only the air filter cover sits squint and I can assure you it's not the covers as I ordered different covers and they are the same. It must be the moulding of the actual tank handle that's out . But the saw runs fine. I just think that neotec should have noticed it and corrected it as it seems to be most of the 872i saws . And neotec were not interested they basically fobbed me off . But on the whole I am happy with the saw and I got it at a great price with delivery. If I had bought it direct from neotec it would nearly have been double the price. Be sure and go over the bolts to make sure they are tightened correctly

    I have the shindaiwa version. Great all purpose saw. Light powerful, tough, reliable and easy starting. Run a 16" bar. I've had very bad luck with 3 stihls. Don't like their fanboy culture or the idea of paying extra money to the Advertising execs and OTT branding. Sure there are good saws from each brand. And lower end ones. Had an older shindaiwa 490 which ran forever too.

    Hi im seriosly looking at getting an echo chainsaw this week ... started oit thinking about a 4510 but the more i read into then the cs510sx would probably be a better bet... only thing is i keep reading and hearing that the echo chainsaws change and run in over the first few tank's if fuel which is fair enough only thing is i wouldn't know nearly enough too tune 1 property... do they all need a retune? Thanks

      Every saw needs run in time not just echo saws . The 4310 or 501 are way better than the 4510 as its plastic. My 501 was used for nearly 4 years before I tuned it and it ran fine . Echo saws are held back a bit out of the box and the pro series ones I.e 4310sx , 501sx , 621sx are all pro saws with magnesium crankcase any one of those saws ran the way they come out the box are fine and they don't need to be tuned , only if you want the full potential of it that's all . Keeping them as they are with the proper fuel mix they will last for years . I have 4 echo saws and never had any issues with any of them . Top tip use echo power blend gold 2 stroke oil at 45"1 not 50'1

      @@alanyoung7655 I have other vids on it as well . I bought an old stihl 038 and done a lot of work on it and I had to buy a tachometer once I had refurbed it . After around 4 or 5 years of running the eco I put the tachometer on the echo and it was only sitting at 11500rpm out of a possible 13800rpm I turned it up a little to 12500 and the difference was incredible it was like a completely different saw . I then removed the restrictor from the exhaust which is very easy to do on that machine but wait for at least 10 tanks of fuel and re tuned it again to 12500rpm because when you remove the restrictor the rpm jumps up again. And again completely a different saw, better throttle response more torque, more power and getting the heat away quicker . I would now say it would run a 20 inch bar easily. But I still run 16 or 18 on it . The ms260 is also a great saw

The skinny windcheater style one is surprisingly effective with a hoodie jumper underneath. Admittedly the name transfer has come off in the wash but I've worn it nearly everyday for the last few months. And it's definitely rainproof. I don't know about your tow bar but the one on my car has a slight flat spot on the top but they are mostly round and when you put the rack on the car it does sag down so you need to lift as you tighten

      Okay, so it’s okay to tighten at the level I deem right. Do you know the torque setting for the bolt, I’ve lost my instructions. Thanks so much

      @@jamesrothwell8137 torque settings ? . You tighten it until it won't move from side to side . Torque settings..lol..no bud I don't think there was any once its tightened so far it can't come back off but it can move side to side . It needs to be fairly tight but don't use a breaker bar ffs . I just tighten it until it won't move side to side

    I had a shindaiwa 452s. It was such an awesome saw. I also owned a shindaiwa 488p. Those saws were predecessors to your saw. Now i have a 241cm and a 261cm. Okay, yes stihl is that 10 percent better but waaay more expensive. Shindaiwa old school was bullet proof

    Good review, convinced me to order earlier in the week and just had mine delivered today. Built it up and tried it on my car, seems solid and great for the price. I got it for just over £100 on ebay as there's a 15% off code on it. Can't beat it for this money. The bolting to the tow bar might get a bit annoying compared to the Thule ones with a handle but at less than a third of what a Thule costs, I'll put up with it.

    It’s a shame berghaus fleeces aren’t anywhere near as thick as they used to be either - I had 1 as a kid and the neck size covered upto your ears n mouth - new berghaus fleeces are garbage compared to the old fleeces too .From what I’ve read fleeces are rated in thickness from 1-300 gsm , 100 being light and 300 being thick - Baerskin are 330 gsm - grams square meter too - like I said it’s a shame

    I’d only order when you see the legit advert on RUclips an use there qr code to scan and it ull take you straight to the proper website boss - sale always on - 2 for £112 at the minute so that’s £56 per fleece if Uve got family that Ud wear one ? In the chat I’ve text on it how to tell a real baerskin from a fake .I wouldn’t buy any other way normally like Google search as it’s a mine field of fakes , generics under different brand names and mimic websites .QR code off the advert only .Hope it helps if your still looking for a good fleece - 8 months later ? Take it easy pal 👍

    Nikwax polar proof is the best for fleeces too , water just rolls off - worth every penny n last along time even 300ml never mind the 1 litre option - best applied directly rather than put in a wash alone using polar proof btw - knowledge is power as they say 👍 I’ll pish off n get out your chat box now mate ✌️
