Living Forward
Германия
Добавлен 4 апр 2020
We are a family of four, currently living in Germany, passionate about life and its challenges. A while ago we embarked on a journey that really pulled us out of our comfort zone: adopting our son Christian. That made us aware of new aspects of life and moved us to consider a series of changes in our daily endeavors. This was a leap of faith and continues to be a humbling and self-revealing process. It challenged our core beliefs and reinforced that we are not self-sufficient but we continue to depend on Someone with the shape of God.
I (Gabriel) am passionate about self-development, "try it yourself" experiments and knowledge sharing.
I (Teddy) am interested in people, psychology and coaching.
This channel is not meant to offer expert advice but rather share our struggles, experiments and learnings that many could relate to. We don't claim to be parenting, personal development or coaching experts as we ourselves are trying to learn from people around us.
We are designed for more!

Bureaucracy is always frustrating and a time-waster. But in one critical instance, it helped us complete the adoption process with Cristi. In this video we are telling the story of how and why we went back on our decision not to continue the adoption with Cristi, because of his severe Autism diagnosis. Gabi and Teddy.

"We kept going back and forth on the idea of sharing with Elsa our intention to adopt. We were not sure if she will understand this at only 2 years old. Barefoot - to run or not to run - if you have also pondered this half-drunk shaksperian Master Yoda existential question, look no further. It was a pleasure to meet you and do the interviews, Ashley !
I took your advice and read the Range. It gave me hope and perspective over my career journey. Very interesting material in the book, as well as in your video. 👌

Do you happen to have more info on international adoptions? I'd like to contact you if that's possible. I am Romanian national but my husband is Dutch and we'd love to hear more about the international adoption possibilities!
Hi Alexandra. Thank you for your message. We would love to talk to you and help, if we could. Please drop us a message on teodoraverzea at gmail.com with your contact details and we could have a discussion afterwards. Merry Christmas :)
Also a good advice to meet other people is to join a club. There are clubs for every actitities or hobbies.
True !
There is also a big Romanian community in South Germany e.g. in Mannheim. Also a tip is to join a club for making connections, there's a club for every hobby or activity :D
Yes, Romanians are everywhere :)

Postpartum depression is real, and more frequent than we think. However, there is light at the end of the tunnel. If you have also gone through this experience, how would you encourage a mother that is going through it ?
Ever considered moving to Germany ? What would incentivize you to do that ?
Adjusting to an adoptive child could be more challenging that doing it with a biological one. But both are challenging. And both very rewarding as well :)
Whare you also experienced both sides of "momming" ? Which one did you find more rewarding ?
Have you moved to a new country ? In what ways did you move out of your comfort zone and in what ways was it rewarding ?
What did you visit in East Germany and where did you like it best ?
Was there ever a moment in your life when bureaucray actually helped you ?
How did you prepare your first child for the coming of a second ? Adoption or biological second child.
Thank you so muchhhh i have biological son i planned to adopt a baby girl.... I fear how can i do that
@@sollamudiyathu8134 it will not be easy. but it is worth it!

What is your support system when you feel overwhelmed ?
Have you tried barefoot running ? If not, why not ? :) And when will you try it ? :)
Did you try Intermittent Fasting ? What was your experience with it ? Would you adopt it as a lifestyle ?
Scenario: you are faced with a decision to do a good thing, but you are unsure if that's not too much of a stretch for you. How do you decide what to do ?
Our first TV appearance. Even been on TV ? What would you do differently the second time ? :)
What is your simplest but at the same time most efficient visual for maintaining a good running posture ?
Anybody out there understanding women ? Please share with us your secret ! :)
What is your experience with specialized vs. generalist professionals ? Where do you see the most potential ?

The government keeps paying to minors till the age of 18 if they have the German citizenship I think ...
You mean the Kindergeld ? Yes, I understand they can get it even later if they are doing further studies, I am not clear on the exact details there, I guess we will learn more when we will get there :)
I read on website the first and second child get 204 Euroes per month and 210 for the 3rd child ... Yes , he or she may keep getting allowances up to 25 years if they are getting training or higher studies... www.howtogermany.com/pages/kindergeld.html
@@waelfaraj6705 yes, I think that's accurate
@@LivingForward Is that true that some shops in Germany make the buyer pay for a one Euro cent left from a bill and take a Euro cent if it is a change you owe ...?
@@waelfaraj6705 Yes, actually all shops do that. Coming from Romania, that surprised us as well in the beginning, but now it seems normal to us as well :)
Sorry, and with all respect, where are shops closed at 5 p.m. on saturdays?
In Heidelberg ;)
Thank you , to anyone replying . How do you contact your neighbors in Germany to ask them if you want to have a party in your house or renovations that may make slightly loud sound? Do you contact your neighbors at what's up , knock on the door to tell them , write on a board announcing so and so , meet them in person , or whatever the way ...
@@waelfaraj6705 we usually tell them in person, in advance
A lifetime to learn. That's right as everyone who comes from Bavaria knows. 😂
The bavarian Dialekt is the most difficult to understand ;)
The Bavarian dialect , as I read , is similar to the Austrian one ...
True but the same way around 😉😂
@@Humpelstilzchen Is that true that in Germany , if there is one Euro cent left from a bill , it is obligatory to pay and if you owe 1 Euro cent, you have to take it ...?
@@waelfaraj6705 If the bill says 13,56€ its 13,56€ 😁 but every now and then they say keep the cent. It depends on Who send you the bill. No you dont have to take it
❤️ thank you for sharing your truth. We're about to have our first child and, although I don't want to have any parents or in-laws in our home right after I return from the hospital, I did connect with a postpartum doula to help with my recovery. I am expecting to be quite sleep-deprived, and I transform into a weird animal when my sleep is derailed. Once again, thank you for touching on such a sensitive topic, and... for staying real. Sending you lots of love
Whenever I talked to my friends about their experiences, I said: do whatever makes it easier for you and the baby. Of course the baby is important, but a baby with an unhealthy mother beside him is not what we want. So find your balance and see what will work best for all of you ;) Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and have a safe delivery :)
As a German I expect immigrants to show that they are willing to learn my language If you use one german word every two sentences that is perfectly fine with me. I rather exercise my English anyway :-)
What is the way to contact your neighbors to ask permission for a party in your house or rennovation works or maintenance stuff? Do you communicate through what's up , a board to write on , knock on the door to ask them, or whatever the way ?
@@waelfaraj6705 The best would be to knock on the door
I can really relate to what you are saying the way through this video!
Thank you ! :)
Raising a child takes a lot of stamina and faith. In my view, parenting is the toughest job of them all, the toughest challenge, especially since the feedback you get from the child - whether it's your biological or adoptive one - can be lacking or come later than we'd want. I commend you for sticking to your goals and not giving up. It would be great if you could share with us the resources and support people, associations, groups you turned to in your journey. Both of you inspire me. Thank you and sending you all the blessings ^_^
Thank you for your kind comments and emotional support, Emma! It means a lot :) We have mentioned the main organizations that supported us during the adoption journey in the 4th episode - below is the link. There were multiple support group meetings, a few camps in the mountains with other adoptive families, and sometimes just an ear to listen to our struggles. ruclips.net/video/yAd8C87rXKE/видео.html

It's so good to hear this from another mom. I am on an Instagram and Facebook fast just because it was overwhelming. Thanks!!!
Thx for your words :) We seldom see the real life and what takes place beyond the scenes and I too felt inferior when I saw all the ‘perfection’ that social media shows.
Proud of you and you guys as a family!

it takes lots of courage to dare step outside our comfort zone(s), and you did plenty of that. So congrats!!! Also, I love the way you talk about the challenges you've been through and your husband. Proud of you for following your heart into becoming a psychotherapist. You'll discover it's one of the most interesting professions out there. Und viel Spass machen es auf Deutsch :D You have my kudos! <3 What type of school (in terms of school of throught, current) are you aiming to follow, as a future practitioner?
Thanks alot for the encouragement ;) Social media might show only the bright side of life, so I wanted to share about life ‚behind the scenes’. You know how the saying goes: life is complex and has alot of aspects ;))) I just started the course (at an institute close to us) but my dream is to go to university and study psychology thoroughly. Then we could talk more in dept about these issues :)
Loved this video!! So entertaining and interesting to see where you went and also so funny when presenting the living conditions :) Love it! Hugs!
I thought we‘ll have to wait a while to enjoy a proper vacation since the kids are so young, but we really did ;) we were lucky to have that stroller with us :)
