Voyage Adventure Vans

Добавлен 23 сен 2018
Our Channel started a few years ago when we were trading as Celtic Motorhomes. The pandemic and a lot of grief that came with it has in part lead to us having to shut down Celtic Motorhomes and try to regroup as a much smaller conversion company , with the aim of producing a few extremely high spec vans a year. Also, we hope that it will allow us to put out more in depth van build videos. And most importantly, allow us to enjoy more Vanlife while we are able to do so.
Hopefully the channel will evolve into a vanbuild / tips / trips etc. We have decided to change the name rather than start a new channel as Celtic was our history and something we are proud of. As a business, it failed, but as a van builder I think we succeeded.

Motorhome Washroom : Building an integrated Vanity Unit around a Practical Drop-Down Basin

Keeping the washroom in a Panel Van conversion at a sensible size often involves juggling things for space. The typical plastic tip up basins are hardly the top end design that we would like . Yet they are extremely practical and space saving. When you want to have a proper wash in the basin, its right in front of you and a decent size. When you are using the toilet of the shower, its completel...

In this video I cover the steps to fit a luxurious upholstered roof lining into a LWB Crafter of MAN tge. The individual slats are glued to a CNC cut lightweight lattice that covers the entire roof area and also has strengthening frames built int to it for the skylights. I also show you an easy way to minimise any water damage from a skylight, in the unfortunate event that the frame leaks.

In this video I carpet line the metalwork of a LWB M.A.N tge / VW Crafter. Its a bit longer than I intended but there was so much I couldn't edit out that it was easier to just accept it as a long video. I give plenty of tips and reasons why I approach this job the way I do.

Vanlife Dreams Made Reality: A Professional Build Series. Episode 4 - Campervan Floor and Flooring
Просмотров 759Год назад
In this video we take you through what I like to think of as the foundations of the conversion process. The floor is the structure that holds the furniture solidly in the van. You need it strong, flat and level. You will also want to factor in some insulation. In this episode we are working on a customers lwb M.A.N tge. It is having an Amtico 4 inch strip floor with 3mm black accent strips. But...

Positioning and Cutting caravan style double glazed windows in a VW Crafter or M.A.N tge is never an easy task. None of the body lines on the outside are parallel with each other or indeed the floor level. So just getting a position for the window takes much more effort than most other vans. Hi Ed, would you also use this same flooring system if it was a 4x4 with the shorter roof height?
Yes...I always use the same process for the floor.
@@voyageadventurevans thanks! I’ve watched all your van build videos and taking a lot of inspiration from these

We’re did you get the strip lights ,it’s all looking very well
All of our lighting comes from Hafele
Looks great, looking at doing our ducato bonnet. Very useful to see this. Thank you.
Nice work 👏 looking great 👌 I like it 👍
Very nice.👍🚐
It has already been said numerous times but deserves to be repeated. The attention to detail is exceptional. Living in Australia prevents me from using your services unfortunately but I can get ideas and inspiration by watching your videos. My new 4Motion MWB Crafter arrives this week after a very long wait so I am researching intently before starting my own build. I can see you used 2 Victron 30A DC to DC chargers. There has been some concern expressed elsewhere that the latest smart alternators may not work so well as a charging source for the house batteries. Did you find there were any issues to overcome charging from the smart alternator? Are you able to get the full 60A when it is required ? Any tips or observations to share on the electricals? And thank you for the great videos.
Thank you.😊😊
Where is the best place to buy catches and hinges etc?
We buy Evo Design catches. Most of our other hardware comes from Hafele.
Surely water spray is easier than that method??
I am definitely not a wrap or vinyl expert, but I think water spray is ok if you don't need to stretch and stick at the same time. If this was wet, then it would not stick properly until it was dry. This wrap vinyl has air release channels on the back to allow you to get rid of air pockets when it's applied dry.
Best way to deal with the ATROCIOUS flaking paintwork on these vans.
What's all this "microfibre" b*ll*cks I hear everywhere? What happened to soft cotton?
From Canada: finally, a shower pan that won't crack.
Thank you for this informative video. Question: why not replacing the existing short cable by a longer one?
Because they are factory fitted cables. The end that is built into the latch has a specific shape, and it is only available from the manufacturer in one size. Even the longer cables in other parts of the door have different ends. It would be nice if it was that easy.
Hi Edd just catching up on your videos which i love to watch. What make of jig have you got for drilling the dowels in place. I was looking at routering a slot to use a biscuit but using a dowel might be a better option.
To be honest, I have moved back to a biscuit joint as it gives you a little more leeway. If you use dowels then they have to be mm perfect, and that isn't always easy 😉
@@voyageadventurevans ah great I will keep to my original plan then 🤣
Useful video. It is staggering that all the drain holes are filled up. I had loads of water beneath the sliding door step because there was no open drain hole.
Same as the rear doors....either the plugs are still in, or they are totally filled with wax.
@@voyageadventurevans yes and I've just found water in the offside rear door! Drain plugs now removed so at least the water can drain until I fix the leak.
@@davea9699 water will always find it's way into the doors, through handles and numberplate lights etc. That's why there are drains.....but if they still have plugs in or are blocked by wax, then they don't drain.
The attention to detail and workmanship of these guys is second to none.
Thank you. We do try to show the amount of work that goes onto producing a well built van😉.

Great job thanks for sharing, will be doing my Relay once the weather improves a bit. Nice to see a non professional doing the job well, this has given me the confidence to do the same. 👍
Hello. This van is lovely and very much along the lines of what I'm intending on doing this year. Would you mind if I show a few seconds of it in one of my videos? I'll put a link to your original video. thanks.
No problem
thanks so much. The video will be up later today. I'll send you a link :) @@voyageadventurevans
Hello from Italy. I watch and learn your truly precise methods full of experience that you have evidently accumulated over the years. You are my important point of reference for the construction of my Ducato van. I will follow you constantly. VERY GOOD MANUFACTURER!!!
Nice work fella ,thanks for sharing
Thank you
Hi Ed just wanted to let you know mine arrive today, really pleased with it really well made and great quality. It'll be a while before I install but looks spot on when I offered it up! Thanks again !
Thank you 👍
Hi ed i love the way your doing your van would you be able to make a video on how you finish around the bunk window and the recess behind the shower wall thanks
Where did you get the edging for the curved plinth I need some and can’t find any thin enough on the top edge to allow It to be curved
I removed the trim from the rear drivers side sill closest to the door that was filling up. I sealed it all up with silicone. It has filled back up with water since. I’ve yet to solder holes for it drip out. Any reason it’s still filling up?
There are multiple places for the water to get in. It is sealed from factory but not necessarily 100%. Resealing it yourself may still not be 100% water tight, so it's just easier to make a suitable drainage point for the water. If you can, hose the outside whilst viewing the inside. At least you may be able to add some additional sealant.
@@voyageadventurevans thank you 🙏
Hi, superb, every time I’m watching that video, I’m dreaming...JF from Belgium
Thank you.
Price?
The price for a van and conversion to this specification at current prices is probably in excess of £130k
Hi Guys I had just sent you an email requesting a quote for one of these but came back saying couldn't be delivered as email account is under maintenance ? do you know how long it will be down for ?
It should come through ok. Email is info@voyageadventurevans.com
Some work in setting those up with small tolerances ,great video Thanks for sharing 👌
To be honest, on the next one, I sat down for an hour or 2 and made a jig that would allow me to position everything in the unit to an exact spot. This one was a new unit, but my own van is to a standard size that I will repeat. But anyone doing it as a one off is likely to do it similarly.
Some great tips there thanks for sharing
Tidy 👍
Interested if you start doing them for a high top Ford Transit Custom.
Would you do them for a VW T6, Rear Barndoors and also for the Sliding side door ?
What depth are your carcass gables and worktop depth ? Great video as you say you can never have enough clamps😊
The main Carcass depth is the same as the fridge width, so its approx 423mm internally. On top of that you have a front and rear panel of 15mm. The worktop has about 10mm of overlap except at the sliding door pillar where it is level with the carcass. The unit does extend about 40mm where the oven / hob is located.
Thanks Ed , looking forward to next video on drawer’s 👍
Can you supply for just the lower section (garage) for a MAN TGE?
Yes, that would be no problem.
Thank you😊
These make the bed area really cozy on a cold night👍🏻
only 4 tires... is it strong? for this large vehicle... it should have 6 tires
Can you make this for the US Ram Promaster with the driver's seat on the left side? Thanks for your help
Making it wouldn't be an issue, but sending it would be prohibitive. They cost £40 to send in the UK, and unfortunately sending anything outside of the UK is now a logistical nightmare for a small company.
Thanks for doing these videos, really enjoying watching and learning from them.
My pleasure!
Fantastic attention to detail, just how it should be done. I'm thinking of trying edgebanding, do you mind me asking which type of glue you use? I'm assuming the heat in the van doesn't soften up the glue allowing edges to come off. Do you have any issues using it in a shower room with all the water. Many thanks and keep up the great work :)
You do need a good heat resistant one. If you don't, then sunlight on a dark colour can generate enough heat in the summer to melt it....or certainly soften it. In the shower, we use a curtain around any edgebanded wood whilst in the shower. You don't want to soak it, but splashes are fine.
@@voyageadventurevans Thanks Ed for coming back to me. You don't happen to know if the glue you use is PUR or EVA? What what I've read the PUR type is more heat resistant but also can't be re-melted in the machine and a nightmare to clean. The PUR type is much easier to work with but does have a melting point. Cheers :)
@@northerndan PU Glue would just be non viable on a small scale due to the constant clean up, making small batches so difficult. I have tried a few EVA glues and have settled on Jowatherm 280.30. I get it from Osterman. It has a pretty high melt point and seems to work well with the small portable bander that I use.
@@voyageadventurevans Thanks Ed, that's really helpful, I will look them up. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the build series.
well done Edward nice video, you need to do a kitchen pod build for a Crafter / TGE that would be a big help
That's my next video. I am going to try to split it down so it's not half hour or more each time. So it's likely to be design and frame, then drawers, and lastly worktop. Hopefully keeps it manageable and more interesting to watch.. plus I don't get fed up editing it😉. I hope to get part 1 out in a few days.
that would be brilliant, I am at the kitchen pod build phase myself in my TGE and need inspiration @@voyageadventurevans
