Happy Thanksgiving! Yes, Dean. I believe prices will go up. This is a great inspirational video for those "on the fence" who are debating learning hydroponics. Like you say, if things don't get bad, at least we'll have the skill.

i was so confused seeing that you live in hawai'i - why does this man grow inside when he has summer year round?? (i live in canada lol) then i see you're at almost 110f outside and i was like OH LOL

By the way...found the mylar sheets in the sporting section. Camping or hunting area. If you ask someone, they may not know about them. I found that out. Have a great day! Happy growing! Michelle Hmmm...My previous post from this morning is missing. Previous post: Place a mylar blanket behind the rack. They are about $4...in my area. Connect to the rack. Doesn't stick well to cement unless you can figure something out. 😁
Great info and thanks for sharing, your garden is looking awesome! Aloha Dean
yep i spray down my whole tent inside top to bottom before starting a grow every winter indoors, its a pain but the cleaner it is the better the grow I say.
Yes Sir, keeping it clean is "key"👍
do you use hydroguard? my ph and ec and temp were perfect but still have root rot.
dwc btw
Hi and thanks for the question, I do not use hydroguard, some times its the type of nutrients that is being used, Growers that use organic fertilizer, worm tea's and home brew's etc.....because its brown in color it makes the roots brown. Question: how's the over all growth of the plant "the leave and tops" Hope this helps. Aloha Dean 🪴
@@HYDROPONICS-INDOORS it was buttercrunch lettuce and it litteraly stopped growing but they were still pretty. I used advanced nutrients micro and grow
@@SuperUnknown-y3h Some thing is not right? Please double check all your growing parameters and then check it AGAIN, The only time I ever had this problem was when my water temp. in the reservoir got to HOT! make sure you calibrate your testing meters, PH<TEMP<PPM to insure they are accurate? I cant speak on "Advanced nutrients micro and grow" Id never use that before. And IF you cant find the issue I would consider a partial water change out, and see if that helps. Aloha Dean ✌
I bought a 50 pound bag of some impello nutrients they are an ag provider it was cheap like $75 its organic corn fertilizer with no salts . I didn't use the stuff because it was so concentrated i locked up plants with it so I started experimenting with it on house plants and found the right recipe and this stuff i was trying to find out the shelf life because mine got moisture and turned into a 50 brick but its still super good all i do is crush it down in coffee grinder but yeah you can do it the way you are other then making your own nutirients which can easily be done Ive done it with kitchen and yard scraps your way its way cheaper concentrated nutes its cheap you just cant over feed follow direction and i always say use less if you're not sure
Thanks for sharing info, your plants look awesome. Aloha Dean 🪴
does it even make sense to grow them in a batch this close to one another? seems like most of the plants didnt get enough light because some of them grew exponentially faster.
Hi and thanks for the questions, The reason for growing them so close to each other is to show the world how to "grow in tiny spaces", like apartment, condo or Senior home. Not every one has a yard to garden in! some seniors might be in a wheel chair and not able to go outside, but now by show this awesome way to grow food indoors give every person a chance to grow no mater what the age! NOW as for lighting, If you have sunny window or balcony it would be best, I don't have this option so, I use grow lights and yes some plants will grow faster then others. That red basil is sharing a small grow light with a cucumber plant, with that said I'm Retired and live on a strict budget and cant afford to buy bigger lights right now. "I look at it in a positive way, my plants might not be perfect but it will STILL FEED me, my family and my friends=feeding your mind body and soul. And don't forget "cultivate kindness one seed at a time" Aloha my friend Dean
Nice work on the Basil. Looks delicious!

Do you make your own net pots or can you buy them I’ve been playing around with various hydroponic systems for 18 months or so It seems the temperature you experience in Las Vegas is similar to me in Newcastle Australia except the humidity here is a lot higher
Hi Paul, yes I make my own net cups from old " coffee keurig cartridge" or you can buy them Online. Newcastle Australia what a beautiful place! I was born and raised on the Island of Oahu, Hawaii and just moved to Las Vegas 4 years ago. I also played around with Aquaponics/Hydroponics for about 12 years and prefer Hydroponics "less maintenance" for me. Happy hydroponics , Aloha Dean

Hello!!! My name is Charles, I'm from Brazil, from the state of Rio de Janeiro. I loved your videos and the care and technique you use. I was curious about the power of the light or LED that you use?
Hello Charles, and thanks for your kind words. About my grow lights, it a 150 watt LED grow light made by MARS HYDRO model# TSL2000 and the size 12in. by 48in. And I do have a smaller one that also made by MARS HYDRO and its a 60 watt grow light, size 12in. by 15in. I run both on timer 12hours on/12hours off. any good led light would work fine, just make sure its big enough cover the growing area... I hope this helps you. Aloha Dean
@HYDROPONICS-INDOORS thank you very much for your answer! and the distance from the led to the cultivation depending on the watt of the led?
@@charlestavares9390 Hi Charles, I keep my lights 12" to 18" in. above the top of the plants, to answer your question "yes" grow lights get really HOT depending on watts _ to close and it could burn your leaves and to far the plant will stretch. hope this helps you buddy and have a bless day. Aloha Dean✌
Another great video. Thinking about making a setup like yours to grow some strawberries. To this point I have done romaine lettuce using the kratkey method. Keep up the good work
That's awesome, hit me up if you have any question on the system, with that said I'd never tried growing strawberries before, let me know how that goes? I thing it would be a good idea to try a test run with strawberries in your Kratky, to dial in ph, nutrients and ppm's..... Aloha Dean

Curious what your watering cycle is, 12 hours a day or cycles? Great video :)
Hi and thanks for the question, My watering cycle is 24/7, I like a constant water flow, but its fine to put a timer on your pump to save on electricity cost.. Grow Light cycle 12 on/12 off or sunny window works awesome too... hope this helps. Aloha Dean

It's nft system ? And timing of water supply motor running in system ?
Hi and thanks for the question, Yes its a DIY NFT system and the run time for motor is 24/7. Lights 12on/12off. Hope this helps "Cultivating Kindness" Aloha Dean 🙏
Hey Coach what was your ec reading ? And what nutrients did you use ?
HI Robert and thanks for the question, I use MASTER BLEND NUTRIENTS its a 3 part kit, you can buy online. As for the EC I don't have an EC meter, but I did have a PPM meter that broke over a year ago, soo I cant tell what the EC or PPM is. I did order a new PPM meter this week and still waiting for it to arrive in the mail. I will be making a video on PPM in a couple of weeks. Aloha Dean 🙏
Hope to have a set up soon Your videos are inspiring

Thanks for this great video! Do they regrow after that harvest? And if so, how long till the next harvest? Thanks!

How much average weight u get from one plant?
Thanks for the question. I don't know the weight of each plant, I think weight matters if you are a commercial grower and sell your produce to the markets. I do know that my produce I grow are pesticide free and bug free and it make's many healthy meals for me, family and friends. I'm also having fun growing them. Aloha Dean

How often should you change the nutrients?
Hi and thanks for the question. from seed to harvest I don't change out my nutrients, I just add water and nutrients as needed and after harvest I will break down the system and give it a good cleaning. hope this helps you. Aloha Dean
Watercress can grow very densely. I have had problems with mold due to not enough air flow. I wish I had a space for an NFT system like yours. It would help with air circulation.
I live in Las Vegas and we have very low humidity levels here, like right now its 4% RH outside and 26% RH in my grow room. maybe you can try running a fan? might help? Aloha dean
