Peak Impreza? 1997 Subaru Impreza WRX STI Coupe V3 Type R review
Просмотров 10 тыс.10 месяцев назад
Long-winded name aside, is this the best Subaru Impreza ever made? The 1997 Subaru Impreza WRX STI Type R Coupe was the first two-door Impreza that ultimately culminated with the 22b. This particular model is one-of-228 Chase Yellow examples built - a unique colour that's found exclusively on this model year. Being a Type R model, it has heaps of extra nuance over something like an Aussie-deliv...

Good on you mate bloody good presentation
I owned i30N for almost 2 years now. I absolutely love it, BUT there are 2 drawbacks (apart it's a FWD) that almost make me wanna sell it. 1. Brakes - putting single piston floating brakes on a car they claim is made for circuit is just silly. 2. what fascinates me about this car is how inefficient the engine is. Whenever I go for a drive with my friend and his Octavia VRS, his fuel consumption is 10 l/100km and mine is 18. Don't buy this as a daily lol.
Have u experienced lost of throttle response while test driving it?
Those kei trucks have a carrying capacity of 350 kilos yet here in the Philippines, many get converted into public transport vehicles and they can carry 8-12 people with no problems😂
Great review! Humorous & informative. You just earned my subscription. I own a Super Carry, purchased new in Japan. Priced here at around 15,000 AUS$ off the lot. The cab space and comfort do it for me. Plenty of leg room, head space, reclining seat for a snooze, dog and gear space. Will never go back to standard cab Kei trucks. The ass is bit light on icy winter roads so have to carry ballast. She’s a bit hairy in high wind as you mentioned. DO NOT get suckered in to the roof (cab) rack option as I did (hard to access, top heavy, wind resistance). Don’t be shocked when all the dash board sensor alarm indicators flash on in inclement weather (heavy rain, frosty days). Suzuki design fault, still unresolved (here in Japan anyway). Overall, it’s a goodie!
Nuggetty review. Why is everything baselined to the i30n? The i30n now costs over 30% more and is for a different market. I30n is not its competition, why would Hyundai make a car that competes against its own product?
Lots of people cross shop them. Ask Hyundai themselves.
@@CultandClassic I did. I went to Hyundai, bought an i20n, didnt even look at the i30n. It’s 55k in base form here in Aus, got the i20 for 37k. I accept at that price, it’s going to have compromises. Its bang for buck is unbeatable. Manual, simple, fast, cheap to run. An i30n is significantly more to insure, fuel, tyres, brakes, everything is a step up.
Orijinal ?
Could of got out of comfort mode tbh
We drove the car for more than the review, and based our opinion in the video over a week-long vehicle loan. All modes were tested.
Firstly, you're hilarious. Super entertaining while still being very informative. I'm tossing up between a Super carry and Hijet Jumbo. After this one video i'm leaning a bit more toward the Carry
haha, thank you. Get the carry mate, it's a bit more of an honest product
powder blue...😅 Love that color, too...
it's nice
Great review for real world driving - you have nailed the context of a car with many amazing attributes somehow leaving you a bit cold due to slight disconnect perhaps caused by numerous systems at work. Very well done thanks.
Thank you!
"because they are democratic"? Er, whatever that means. I just like them because they're low cost and seem like practical, functional little trucks.
The actual literal meaning.
Gota be Bonds....
hahah, i should pull my pants up
That was the BC5 RS Legacy that did that speed endurance record not the sti.
Same donk
The super carry looks awesome with the extra space in the back. If you weren’t a slave and lived in a free country it would great space to store your EDC kit. Long gun, plate carrier, pistol belt. You know, just every day man shit! 😂
Mate, Australia is pretty good as is. We are pretty free here.
Entertaining and informative, you've really got a knack for it.
Thank you!
if you had to choose between this and a Fl5, what would you pick from a driving perspective in isolation.
If money wasn't an issue, i would pick FL5 with all the convenience tech & high HP from the standard setup. FL5 is gorgeous but FD2 is handsome n something feels good when it scream vtec 😆
OOO hard one. If it's a daily, FD2. If you want to go to the track and go really, really fast, FL5. Or, coin flip.. haha
Do you reckon that you can comfortably drive one of them at 100kph on Aussie roads? Like do you think it’ll stand the test of time doing so or is it no good for it
@@ethanellaby-green2233 had one for over a year, and it’ll happily sit on 110km/h no worries.
10/10 review. subed
Thank you :D
You didn't say why we can't see them.on the rd?!
A question friend, 120,000 kilometers, isn't it too much? How long will one of those cars last, is it worth it being so traveled?
I've driven one with150,000km and it felt great, they age really well.
I wish the US could have these 😩

Great presentation style!
@@indykalia8224 thank you!
Ask Mischa Charoudin what he thinks about the i20N around the Nurburgring. Proper sorted hot hatch in the spirit of the Clio Sport.
We don't need to ask him, you already told us on his behalf bro.
The RS Q3 in South Africa has electronic powered seats
It does too in Australlia - it's actually just this limited-edition model that has manual seats! It's the most-expensive and highest-performance RS Q3 released, and it has manual pews haha.
I love my 8th Gen Civic Si. It’s the 2 door FG2, it’s only got 23k miles on it. It’s the Ultimate drivers car. With a Catback Exhaust, intake, and a Tune these cars become screamers.
Nice
First honest RS Q3 review.. good points about the old school design
Thank you! We always tell the truth
Are the suspensions on the stiff side when on normal/Eco mode?
Yes. Always a bit firm
The presentation is like an Australian SavageGeese! Very nicely done.😃👍I don't think I've ever head anyone describe an engine as nugget before, apart from Wade from Garbage Time (MightyCarMods too, I guess?). 😂
It’s a sydney thing. Appreciate your comments!
Thank you ❤
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 my dream FD2R
The best
The 4 door Version 2 STI type RA is the ULTIMATE IMPREZA
All Champ White FN2's came with LSD and they appeared late 2008. Then from April 2010 most model FN2's came with LSD standard so most 60 plates and all 11 plates. 🤓 Riveting i know 😂
I know, I waited until 2011 to buy an Fn2. Mine was champ white :D
I put my phone in the dash when wearing shorts. Otherwise it falls out in between the seat and console.
Has a purpose then
Very good Review..👍🏻 there’s just one Z which is above of that Z, the 380RS Superleggera. Just 20 were Build, its quite the same as this one but over 100kg lighter.
Cool car, but it was built by Amuse and not a factory-sanctioned Nissan.

FD2.
If I had seen this review I wudn't have bought the car. Would have missed out on a lot of fun. The review is a bit misleading IMO.
Yep. But I guess not everyone is going to appreciate the car for what it is.
well, you cant get powered bucket seats on a GT3 either so
Bro, that's a two-door sports coupe that belongs on a race track. This is a family car that doesn't go near a race track, it should have electric seats. My 2004 BMW E46 325Ti has electric seats with two-position memory for christ's sake!
How does a 350z rs compare to a 370z or nismo in speed and power? I imagine it can hold it's own. The regular nismo can barely compete with base 370z.
I love the 2000 model till this day the 2000 model still looks hot
agreed
Thank you for a proper good review in aus! Had one of these when I lived in Japan but now back in aus and have finally convinced myself I don’t need a big ute as a tradie here
Hey, weclome back to Australia! What Kei ute will you be buying here do you think?
Exactly! I had utes all my life (in NZ). No more. I live here in Japan now, rural Mie Prefecture. Kei trucks rule! I have the Super Carry, all I need for my hunting, fishing & homestead lifestyle.
Quality review I've got a 1992 HA4 Acty. I only would out about the extended cab models after I bought one. Would definitely have been the favorable option.
Thank you! The extra cab adds an extra layer of habitability

Those definitely look sharp

Very interested in this mini truck Where can I buy this car in Sydney? Any clue?
www.cultandclassic.com.au
Needs a stage 1 tune
Not wrong, and a downpipe too... with a PPF delete haha
I test drove one and completely agree, I also own an M2 comp so I'm probably spoiled. I had a mk 8 Fiesta ST before and remember it being much more fun and put a smile on my face even back to back with the m2, i20n just puffs out for me and felt kinda dull. What are your thoughts on the ST? I think I may get one again, the brakes were just weak as I recall.
I owned an ST for a while and loved it - I think it's a better road car overall. The Hyundai is superior out of the box on a track; but yeah, most of us drive on the road meaning the ST is a better pick.
