2023 Suzuki Carry review - 4x4 Kei truck!

- We review the regular DA16T Suzuki Carry and compare it to its space-cab sibling, the Suzuki Super Carry.
Both of these vehicles were imported and provided by www.cultandclassic.com.au
When the bed is empty you are supposed to start with 2nd gear. 1st gear is only for fully loaded uphill start. Therefore kei truck is basically 4speed manual with 1 extra low gear.
The total count is still five, though.
I’m buying one of these but a 2017 model.. 45000 mileage done. Gonna be using it for driving to work and around Perth.. can’t wait !!
Awesome. Report back after a few weeks!
Fun and informative review, guys! Wasn't expecting to watch the whole video but you hooked me.
Aw, thanks!
Thank you for a proper good review in aus! Had one of these when I lived in Japan but now back in aus and have finally convinced myself I don’t need a big ute as a tradie here
Hey, weclome back to Australia! What Kei ute will you be buying here do you think?
Exactly! I had utes all my life (in NZ). No more. I live here in Japan now, rural Mie Prefecture. Kei trucks rule! I have the Super Carry, all I need for my hunting, fishing & homestead lifestyle.
EXACTLY RIGHT! @@jagmasters7392
Enjoyed the vid, looking forward to more Kei truck videos.
Thank you - hijet is next!
I am in the UK and have being running kei vehicles for nearly forty years.Honda Acty TN550s ,now Piaggio Porter diesel, and Daihatsu Copen.
Legendary. Justin was born in the UK.
Just bought a 2017 Carry in Perth and loved your video. Reinforced so many of my reason for buying a Kei Truck. Subscribed and wanting to see so much more!
Awesome! What colour is yours? Thanks for subscribing and watching
@@CultandClassic it is white. I got a Kintaro spec which is a lightweight tipper truck. Just going through compliance, so should have it soon.
@@jakattahI’m about to buy my one from Welshpool 😌 2017 grey silver with 45000 kms… 17k 😅
@@matthew004 I imported cost was a $2000 more than yours but only 11000km and has a tipper. Hopefully see you at one of the meets here!
Ancient wisdom: It's more fun to drive a slow car fast, than a fast car slow.
Got it in one 😊
Great review! Humorous & informative. You just earned my subscription. I own a Super Carry, purchased new in Japan. Priced here at around 15,000 AUS$ off the lot. The cab space and comfort do it for me. Plenty of leg room, head space, reclining seat for a snooze, dog and gear space. Will never go back to standard cab Kei trucks. The ass is bit light on icy winter roads so have to carry ballast. She’s a bit hairy in high wind as you mentioned. DO NOT get suckered in to the roof (cab) rack option as I did (hard to access, top heavy, wind resistance). Don’t be shocked when all the dash board sensor alarm indicators flash on in inclement weather (heavy rain, frosty days). Suzuki design fault, still unresolved (here in Japan anyway). Overall, it’s a goodie!
These are really popular in Rarotonga where the speed limit is 50km and they are CHEAP to run. I am going to buy the super carry because of the bigger cab and I don't need the bigger tray. Great video content!!
Thank you! I didn't know about their popularity there
Entertaining and informative, you've really got a knack for it.
Thank you!
Love it, the space cab would let me swag it off the ground and have a spot for dead deer, bricks and mulch. Winner all round. Where to get one?
Enjoyable review. Nice to have a couple good lads having an honest chat about it. Thanks from NZ.
Edit: Get some more vids up gents. You're good to watch and listen to. I want to see your hijet review and comparison.
Hey, thanks for the kind words. I will make some time to do that comparison ASAP.
Quality review
I've got a 1992 HA4 Acty. I only would out about the extended cab models after I bought one. Would definitely have been the favorable option.
Thank you! The extra cab adds an extra layer of habitability
I love the setup of a small bus, however I am missing an electric version of it. By the way here in Europe currently a small electric bus with exchangeable cargo modules and solar roof is in development probably available in early 2025 I am so stoked to see that on the road.
Firstly, you're hilarious. Super entertaining while still being very informative. I'm tossing up between a Super carry and Hijet Jumbo. After this one video i'm leaning a bit more toward the Carry
haha, thank you. Get the carry mate, it's a bit more of an honest product
@@CultandClassic Would you feel the same if they were both AT?
Good on you mate bloody good presentation
The quality of these vids is getting better and better 🙂
Thank you!
Gret video this channel will be a success in no time. Honestly good production good laughs. caters to the normal every day aussie who swears. Good shit, basically sold me a kei truck
haha that's awesome!! Appreciate your feedback. We will try our best to make more videos
Those kei trucks have a carrying capacity of 350 kilos yet here in the Philippines, many get converted into public transport vehicles and they can carry 8-12 people with no problems😂
powder blue...😅 Love that color, too...
it's nice
Top tier content for smiles/h, cheers! Looking at getting a space cab, though I do a bit of freeway driving.
Is 110km/h bearable? What's the rpm and cabin noise like on the freeway? I have an APV so I'm used to life in the left lane. Imagine these nugs are comparable? Maybe a bit less echoey than a van?
Hey, thanks for your kind words. It’s tolerable, however some DIY sound deadening material would go a long way.
Would absolutely love a video with this level detail on the Suzuki Spacia Custom Turbo and Honda N-Box. I'm considering one of the new kei vans because the technology level is super impressive but cannot find videos of them doing highway km's or just how hard you gotta push them to get up a hill.
I will have to do one!
Those definitely look sharp
For sure
15:48 it accelerates mighty fine for my taste.
Does the job 😊
I wish the US could have these 😩
Some states can
@@danallen578 hopefully one day
@@campcreekhill8933 see some hijets over in the states
The super carry looks awesome with the extra space in the back. If you weren’t a slave and lived in a free country it would great space to store your EDC kit. Long gun, plate carrier, pistol belt. You know, just every day man shit! 😂
Mate, Australia is pretty good as is. We are pretty free here.
OMG! Is that a Hino Contessa on your right at the end???
In other news, such practical jiggers.
Other half wants a new N-Box custom turbo and I wouldn't say no to an N-One Premium Turbo myself.
Yup, it’s a contessa. So glad you noticed her. We have an N-One Premium on the way - they’re fantastic cars
Great stuff. Look forward to seeing what colour, options, km etc.
When unloaded, 2nd gear transmission is fine.
Do you reckon that you can comfortably drive one of them at 100kph on Aussie roads? Like do you think it’ll stand the test of time doing so or is it no good for it
@@ethanellaby-green2233 had one for over a year, and it’ll happily sit on 110km/h no worries.
We have a larger version of these in Indonesia, called the Mega Carry
Those look like the APV but in ute format, definitely different but still cool!
Yup, I love them - I wish we could import
Very interested in this mini truck Where can I buy this car in Sydney? Any clue?
www.cultandclassic.com.au
how much is the 2023 model and where can I buy one?
2023 models cost around early $20,000s. Cult and Classic can import you one. Website is www.Cultandclassic.com.au
How's the air-conditioning in summer?
…2000 Suzuki jimny has great AC ,,so it probably even better
So far, so good! It's cold like a Japanese car ought to be.
Are the seat comfortable?
The seats are OK, but the seats in the Super Carry are noticeably more comfortable than the single cab.
@@CultandClassic thank you. I’ll see it after Christmas at your dealership.
Not sure what’s better the super carry or the review 😂
You’re too kind ❤️
Gota be Bonds....
hahah, i should pull my pants up
"because they are democratic"?
Er, whatever that means. I just like them because they're low cost and seem like practical, functional little trucks.
The actual literal meaning.
Oh if only Kei became electric! But I think the Japanese government (Toyota) is too against it.
9:46 xD
Hahaha
This review is great shit
Thanks :D
Never seen a space cab before
They make sense if you need more cabin room.
