I have read books on this subject. His opinion on Sue is pretty accurate to mine. Maybe not the outward hatred, but the fact she never has done anything to help identify why her son was guilty of this, is a 100% true thing. You can find it everywhere. And no, that woman did not need to be on a Ted Talk. If anything Brooks father shouldve been. I reccomend No easy answers to get propbably the best perspective on the shooting. If you look at what Brooks father says and compare it to her, its pretty clear that shes incapable of admitting her son was a monster, and she incapable of believing her parenting had anything to do with it. While brooks father talks about warning signs, she says dont let your kids hang out with evil kids and just hope it never happens. I dont know about you, but if you were Dylans age and your friend started saying he wanted to kill everyone, would you go along with it or tell someone? Dylan made his choice, and hes a monster for it. His mother could have done so much more before and after. And if she didnt want to, she couldve stayed out of the limelight. Period. Shes not at fault, but shes a moron spewing nonsense to appease her own guilt and shame. I dont think i would call her a narcicist as much as I would traumatized, but it doesnt mean she deserves a ted talk.

I can find no reasons in this video to convince me to accept Dylan's mother as being honest rather than denying that she, as Dylan's mother, shouldn't be held accountable for not being aware of what kind of a person Dylan actually was. At this point, I really don't care. Dylan & his buddy were murderers & they're both dead. Good. They can't shoot anybody else.

In my high school health class they taught us that suicide ALWAYS has warning signs. ALWAYS. It was on the test. I said that it was false, because it is, and got a point taken away. Still upsets me to this day simply because it's not true

I honestly hate the "You must reprent but we'll never actually forgive you" attitude a lot of people have and that response video (not yours) is filled with it. Sue has handled the situation better than the og video gave her and "Timmy" gives off the vibe of those types of people who will hold issues over you and treat you like shit, despite you actually doing more than your share to make up for it, especially when you have nothing to do with the direct action. No matter what you do, your actions will never be enough so they'll continue to disrespect you, despite you showing evidence to debunk their claims.

Columbine was the perfect storm basically. For one thing, Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris met each other. If that didn't happen, I don't know that either of them would've done this on their own (although I do think Eric is most likely to have pursued something on his own, in spite of the fact Dylan was the one who seemed to be having a better time on that day). It was also a statement of the times, the pre-millennium growing up in a rural but upper class, conservative neighborhood in America; the "put your kids on pharmaceuticals and roll the dice" era. The "blame assignment" era, I'll take "anyone" is wrong as long as that anyone isn't myself, that sort of thing. They tried to pin this thing on everything BUT Dylan and Eric. They were just kids I don't know how much real long-term vision they had when doing this thing but I do think they expected to become famous, or infamous, after this happened. Talking about it in their journals ahead of time "What we do is going to be studied" and insinuating a lot of people were going to idolize them for what they did, which is... sadly not far from the truth. I just think some times people do evil things, it's really that simple. They're not the first ones to be bulled on a massive scale if that's what it was, they're definitely in the <1% echelon of bullied kids though who ended up doing something on the heels of the bullying that warrants multiple Wikipedia articles and books nowadays though.

I wish your video had at least half of the views his video has. It is sad that most people won't get to see arguments from the other side.

Dude when you set out to disprove someone with facts and first thing you say is some nonsensical opinion derived from literal definition, no one could have known he will be a school shooter. Yes if you take that statement literally, which no one with a healthy brain does, it is impossible, but based on his activity a parent that keeps an eye on kids activity, especially one that is getting concerned by factors she knew already, could have easily figured out that hes on a path of doing something really bad and there is countless examples of strict parents taking actions that would have at least stopped her child from doing it.

The ending of his video is by far the worst part. I'll be honest, I don't care about the victims, it's not that I don't think this was a tragedy, a terrible loss, a coward act by some crooked pussies, but I won't remember the victim's names or who they were. I remember watching her original TED Talk and seeing his video recommended right after, so I decided to check it out. I actually respected her for sharing such a difficult, complex, and sad situation. But when I watched his video, along with all the hateful comments, I started to feel like I was crazy for not viewing her as some narcissist or awful person. I'm so glad I found this

I watched Timmy’s video first. I had never seen him before. It was just recommended to me. After I watched it yours was immediately recommended to me. It’s crazy how I didn’t catch any of his mistakes etc. while watching. When listing to you they are so obvious.

There definitely were warning signs. It is absolutely ridiculous to claim that there werent and never are. Kids dont wake up one day and decide to commit a massacre. You go on and on about how many warnings there were about Eric that didnt make it to the mom but you refuse to acknowledge that there are warning signs i- bro? Also bullying doesnt cause school shootings. This is just a form of victim blaming. If bullying caused it, more poc and gay school shooters would exist.

I believe the fundamental issue with RUclips essays such as Timmy’s is they are heavily reductive. First, everything seems obvious with hindsight. It’s so easy to identify patterns and assert what should have been done when you have access to a lot more information. Second, they reduce extremely complex behaviours/emotions/situations into buzzwords like narcissist and gaslighting.

I'd also like to point out that regarding the New York Times comment, Timmy has the comments sorted by "newest" not "most popular". The actual top comment (with 1336 likes as opposed to 3) reads as follows: _"All this talk of mental illness and parenting is a red herring. I don't care how great of a parent you are, you can never foresee this type of atrocity. And even if you can, there is nothing you can do -- in this country we are not allowed to detain someone for possible future crimes. The issue is, has always been -- accessibility of guns."_ On the one hand, it is easy to come to the conclusion that this isn't intentional deception since, when you click on the comments box, the NYT does initially sort comments by "newest". On the other hand, the comment only had 3 likes, and you'd have to be pretty ignorant to think that the highest-rated comment on an article with 957 comments would only have 3 likes.

I think the reason so many people took his video at face value was due to the risk that scumbags take when they make videos that are made up completely of lies. On one hand, they could get away with it, and go viral because of their fabricated story that is more interesting than the actual story, but on the other hand, they could get a CRAP ton of backlash that would absolutely demolish their career. And this has happened many times before. Because of this, it's safe for the average viewer to assume that whatever video they're watching was made by someone who understands this concept. However, there are a few exceptions, and this was one of them. Thank you for, once you noticed something was off, you presumably starting to look up his sources and taking note of what he did wrong.

Regardless of if she is a terrible parent there needs to be discussion on why kids feel radicalized to killing their classmates,or even the president. I believe there was a sandy hook survior who survived another mass shooting in college. What is happening? [Personally i feel if guns are promoted as a right then gun saftey/firing classes should be mandatory in schools like us government is taught .]
