How to Score Bookbinding Boards
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.Месяц назад
Hello everyone, today I will explain and teach you how to Score thick paper or Boards as part of my Bookbinding Basics video series. To achieve a nice score you want the score to give you the fold you need without distorting or bending the material. you want a clear and visible edge. That is why you run your knife between 2/3 and 3/4 into the board. There are mostly 3 things you need to take in...
How to Crease Paper
Просмотров 1,5 тыс.3 месяца назад
Hello everyone, today I will explain and teach you how to Crease paper as part of my Bookbinding Basics video series. Folding and creasing paper are very similar things, a fold is made without the assistance of tools, and a crease is made with tools, usually a bonefolder, and will appear sharper than a fold. Folding paper with the grain is easier than against the grain. if you don't know what p...
Paper Grain Direction - Explained
Просмотров 2,4 тыс.4 месяца назад
Hello everyone, today I will explain paper grain direction. Paper grain direction is a very basic and important thing to understand as bookbinders, printers, designers or anyone who works with paper and wants to create books and boxes, because every material we are going to use needs to be in the right grain direction. Parallel to the spine. When you buy paper you will find the term long grain ...

A tube is a great way to store Scrolls, Calligraphy and Posters, to safely store or ship unframed prints, and to elegantly award people with a certificate This is actually what this tube is going to be. The body and lid of this tube are the same diameter and covered with two colors of cloth One color for the rim and the other for the re...

Amazing! Love it ❤
The joy you get from your work is contagious Ido. I shared your satisfaction in hearing the 'pop' in the sealed tube at the end. The sound of precision.
Such a fun video to watch and full of great tips and techniques as always. Thank you Ido
Everything about this video is beautiful, down to the simple sounds of a master craftsman at work. A joy to watch.
It was so lovely to see your son's art. Thank you to both of you for such useful tips and techniques.
Absolutely charming. It's a joy to watch you work.
As someone just starting to get into book binding, I appreciate all of this fundamental knowledge. But I really love seeing the box making process! There’s lots of book binding videos available, but not very many using the same tools and techniques to make these beautiful boxes. Look forward to see what you have for us next!
Thank you for your kind words, I will share more about books, boxes and more… Almost ready with my new video Thanks for watching
Such a helpful video. Thank you
Thank you for watching and being here 🙏

Thank you for watching 🙏
Thank you, this October I will try this.
I’m glad to hear that, thank you for watching
For sure you will see me in your next videos! Thank you and most of all thank your son! Accidentally I bind two books at the time. They drying right now and they're made from thick watercolour paper. And surprisingly the have 32 pages, so.. I'm in
That is great to hear, thank you for watching 🙏
I will find you on Skillshare.
That was wonderful! So precise; I loved your idea of using a weight -- never thought of that, so helpful! And you also have a very nice voice to listen to. 🙂
Thank you for your kind words, I am very happy this was helpful.
Perfect explanation, thank you. The sushi mat analogue is so simple but clear. For some reason l have a mental 'blind spot' about grain direction, l can't explain it but it is like the 'righty - tighty, lefty - loosey' concept for screwing/unscrewing: l have to make myself think where my hand is moving to, not where it starts. Sounds ridiculous, l know! I'll be coming back to this video often, l can tell.
I’m sure with practice and marking on the materials would help you remember. Thank you for watching 🙏
Thank you, this is so clear and straight forward, l really enjoyed watching it. I'm not confident using a knife compared to using scissors but you show how controlled it can be, taken step by step. The use of scoring to reduce thickness in joints is genius!
Thank you for watching, very glad you are here ❤️
See you in Skillshare! I have been a memberfor years, and have learnt so much there. I am curious about your classes now. See you there!
See you there…
Just been watching so many of your videos. They are GREAT!!!! Thank you for filling a void that was calling out for someone like you and your skills. SO happy to have found you!

Thank you for showing us so clearly and for explaining why you're choosing to do these things - very much appreciated. And that peel-back-&-flip-up idea? Loved it!
Thank you for your kind words, happy you are here!
Beautiful!
❤️
BEAUTIFUL
Thank you 🙏
Such a simple concept but I still struggle to wrap my head around it when folding folios. I will be rewatching your video again for sure. Thank you. Great explanations as always!
Thank you, it can be confusing at first but Im sure you will get it.
WONDERFULLY explained! ALWAYS clear and BEAUTIFULLY demonstrated! THANK YOU!
Thank you for watching 🙏
I love this project. I also like the explanation of the press. I have always been fascinated with this skilled form of art. I look forward to seeing more videos. Thank you.
Thank you for appreciating this form of art. This project is very special to me as it was made for my father. I have many more to share thank you for being here
This was very interesting and helpful. Your son is an amazing artist!
Thank you 🙏 glad this video was helpful for you ❤️
Thank you! I actually completed Inktober last year for the first time after attempting it for years. I didn't finish a picture each day, but I drew every day.
That is great to hear, thank you for sharing and I am glad you are here..
Thank you 🙂🙏🏻
Thank you for watching 🙏
Very good video. Thank you. I just subscribed 😊
Thank you for watching and for being here 🙏
You are so soulful and amazing artist (teacher)❤
Thank you for your kind words and for being here ❤️
You should design a sketchbook for each of or probably like 1/3 of the prompts! Do you know how many you could sell?
Or just encourage others to build their own sketchbook!
That’s a great way to fix our sketchbooks btw fix our mistake pages I hope you linked your sons page. To see his inktober sketchbooks I mean.
I have taken a couple of your classes on Skill share. I may or may not have made a joke about your availability. I apologize I didn’t realize you’re married . But mostly you’re a really good teacher and I was also just joking. I like the way you teach. I like how you explain everything as well! Thank you it’s so cool your son is an artist too!
That’s a heckuva lotta work for Inktober, but you do you. Nice video, but I’m not that into it. I’m just going to use a partially filled sketchbook that I’ve had awhile. Finish it out. Then, moving on . . . Best to you! 😊
I completely respect that, enjoy Inktober and thanks for watching
Thank you for this video.
I love making my own books for Inktober and for Nanowrimo (National Novel Writing Month in November).
I’m sure making the whole process of drawing or writing and then binding your own book is very satisfying. Thank you for watching
@@idoAgassi Yes, it is. And, it allows you to determine size and thickness to your own need.
Ahhhh! using a weight makes a BIG difference when handling paper. Thank you for this video. i have subscribed!
Thank you for watching and yes these weights make all the difference…
I love these ideas. I've been considering what I want to do for a sketchbook just for Inktober this year! I have been considering an accordion fold, but this video gave me some new thoughts. :)
So glad to read this, exactly my inspirations to open up more ideas… The accordion fold is also a good idea but a bigger risk creating at least I imagine 6 drawings on the same paper. If you don’t mind share with me what you decided to do… Enjoy the challenge and thank you for being here.
Thank you very much for doing this video! I loved everything about it! Your instructions are very clear, easy to understand, and no music or anything to distract the viewer. Learned a few things too. Keeping a weight on the other side when folding the paper will definitely help beginners like me save quite some time! And using a needle instead of pencil to mark the spots again was something I learned today. So, thank you! I really hope you will do a video on the long-stitch binding coz I'd rather learn that from you and not any other channel! You have a new subscriber! :)
I very happy to read this comment! Teaching new things, tips and tricks are exactly what I aim. Thank you for watching and being here
