DIY Fish Pond - Breaking/removing boulder by hands - How to make masonry drill bit last 5X longer?
#DIYFishPond
#MasonryDrill
#BreakingBoulders
00:00 Introduction
00:55 First trick: using coolant
04:33 Better cooling
09:23 Second trick: pre-drill the holes
28:19 Final count and conclusion
I was digging a fish pond in my backyard then I ran into some boulders that are too big for me to move them out by myself. I learned a method to break rocks into smaller piece using hammer drill and feather type chisels. The process is simple:
- Drill a line of holes
- Set up the chisels in the holes
- Use a hammer to force the chisels into the rock to create a crack
I was able to break a boulder into few small pieces but the masonry drill bits got hot and loss their performance very quickly.
I found 2 tricks that...

How to make metal cold cut blade cuts and lasts on a abrasive saw (1800rpm blade on 3800rpm saw)
Просмотров 7 тыс.2 года назад
I had a project to cut many pieces out of U shape steel bars, 4" wide, 1.5" high, 48" long. I started with a new abrasive blade but it seems that the cut was very slow. It will take me forever to cut all the pieces that I need. I decided to use a cold cut saw blade. This saw blade runs at maximum speed of 1800rpm and my saw was rated at 3800rpm. If I used the blade at the full speed, the blade ...
DIY CNC - upgrading to Aluminum brackets for steel milling
Просмотров 4,7 тыс.2 года назад
In my last video, I started building a new CNC machine with the aim of milling steel using a 3018 CNC. Since the 3018 CNC is very flimsy and can only be used to mill wood and plastic, I build the first version of my CNC using plywood brackets. After the first version was built, now I'm ready to cut Aluminum brackets to make the machine more sturdy and rigid to mill steel. After changing all the...

DIY CNC - Expanding working area - bigger = more fun
Просмотров 4,9 тыс.3 года назад
I had few recent projects that I couldn't use my CNC machine due to large-size pieces that needed to be cut. I had to use my table saw and tried to trim all the pieces as precisely as I could. I found that table saw is useful but not made for precision and especially not for complicated shapes. To make my life easier, I decided to expand the working area of my machine. I only have a budget of a...

    1. Goldfish are carp. They go in ponds because they grow multiple feet. Do research before buying any live creature. Is it a goldfish? Research goldfish. Is it a betta fish? Research bettas. Hell, is it a mud turtle? Research mud turtles. Every creature is different. 2. Wtf bleaches their soil??????????????????? This was new to me. Heads up to those who don't know, don't do this. It's dangerous and defeats the point of the soil. "I pumped out the bleach wat-" NO. STFU. Don't ever freaking do this! This should be astoundingly obvious. This entire part was bewildering and truly upsetting to watch as a fish keeper. You wanna prep soil for the tank? Put it in the oven on low for a while. DO NOT BLEACH IT. 3. "No chemicals" Try again. You got that part wrong. I came here after finding your design on thingiverse and was excited to see but then the goldfish and the bleach had me on the verge of pulling my hair out. The only time you will EVER need bleach in this hobby is if you have plastic plants/decor and even then the bleach NEVER goes in the tank. You pull the plastic decor out, wash it in a separate container with a light amount of bleach to kill algae, rinse thoroughly, then place back in the tank. That's it. All of that aside (but unable to be forgotten), this was decent looking in the end. I'd put a pre filter around that pump so when the mollies breed you don't have babies getting sucked into the impeller but other than that the filter setup is pretty stellar.

Your struggle to attain your dream machine comes through well and I feel your pain, and joy at getting it right. I found this site, which has gone about “reinventing the wheel” as well as you. This guy, Mark Hogan, has a site called ThreeDesign where he even offers select parts at a premium all in a kit. Hope you like it. If only they would reply back to you when you have questions. You’re pretty much on your own. Unless you’re knowledgeable about the hardware and software which I doubt as it is entry level machines. If you decide to move forward on this do yourself a favor and put it together as soon as you get it. If you’re having support issues return it before the warranty expires. Best of luck
