    In this video, I summarized quickly all the tricks and tips that I did to make my cheap plasma cutter cut50P (P for "pilot arc") works perfectly with my home-built CNC plasma cutting table.
    - 1st tip: Use bigger torch that was designed for higher current. That way the nozzle and the electrode will last longer and the cut quality will be more consistent.
    - 2nd tip: Connect the trigger wire directly from the connector on the plasma cutter to the relay and keep it far away from the pilot arc wire and the the air hose to avoid HF noises and interference.
    - 3rd tip: If your arc is sputtering, the plasma cutter doesn't cut continuously, you will have to check inside the plasma cutter and adjust the spark gap. Keep it at reasonable distance (0.8mm following the manufacture manual).
    - 4th tip: use 220V instead of 110V. 220V will make the arc more stable and also the plasma cutter will have higher duty cycle when cutting at high amperage.

    On the websites we can read that these posts cut up to 8 mm but this is valid when we start at the edge of the sheet. Have you been able to test the maximum capacity of this 50P cut?

      I'm using an A141 torch. But It's not straight forward to connect this torch to a standard plasma air hose. The connector might be M9x1 or something like that. I had to cut the connector on my P80torch and braze welded it to the A141 torch head. If you also think of using a higher current torch, maybe should go for this one: www.aliexpress.com/item/4001027809021.html
      you can chose the M8x1 thread so you can replace the torch directly on to the P80 torch air hose.

  • @peterpasti

    Does the new torch improved the cutting quality? Like angle of the cut edge, dross amount. My Cut50 cut quality is not the best, I tried a lot feed rate/current/air pressure variations but still have some issue with sticky dross buildup. Some adviced a compressor air filter, that's will be my next project.

    • @minhsmancave9448
      @minhsmancave9448  3 года назад

      Yes, the new torch definitely improved the cutting quality. I can see the difference when cutting thicker sheet metal like 3mm. By looking at the p80 torch, I don't think the air inside the nozzle swirl as it supposed to. The a141 torch has a swirl ring that you can see and also the burnt marks inside the nozzle, electrode that the air swirled and make a cleaner cut. With the a141, I can cut 3mm sheet using 30 amps and 45psi and the cut was quite clean. With the p80, I had to use 50 amps and 70psi, and the cut was still crappy. Tried many settings with p90 but couldn't get it right. Defintely the torch does matter.

    • @minhsmancave9448
      @minhsmancave9448  3 года назад

      One bad thing about the a141 is the thread to connect it to the hose, it's not compatible with P80 hose so I had to cut the connector on the p80 torch and braze welded it to the a141 head.

    • @minhsmancave9448
      @minhsmancave9448  3 года назад +1

      Yes, I removed my THC and am using the guard I made. It works better on real thin sheet metals (24 gauge) because those sheet bends like crazy and the THC doesn't react fast enough to deal with the sudden bending. Let me know what type of board and problem you have, I might be able to have some suggestions.

    • @minhsmancave9448

      I'm looking at your video and saw your problem. You can't use the limit switches for homing switches. Each homing switch has to be connected separatedly in to one input port. The limit switches can be connected all in one pin as you do now. So, with your config right now, you will have to unable all the homing switches.

      You can make any air cooled torch compatible with your CUT60. I'm not sure which torch you have now? If you wanted to use A141, you might need to modify the connector on your torch to be able to fit the hose that's already on your machine. Here's the link to the A141 torch that I have:
