Just fishing, some tips and funk music.
Ridiculous High Tide Blitz
Stumbled upon a school of actively feeding Stripers. What unfolded is a rare, once in a blue moon occasion, and the best striper fishing session I've ever experienced.

Fishing in a foot deep of water, probably. As soon as the lure hits water, starting cranking fast.
Night Fishing for Stripers

Targeting Stripers at night with Lures. No unique night time tactics or special lures. I'm still just fishing exactly as if the sun were out, using the same tactics, in the same tidal conditions, and using the same day-time lure. Not too many videos on this. Obviously, no one wants to watch a pitch-black video.

There's a short run of stripers in the East Bay during spring. Not sure exactly when it begins and when it ends.

22" to keep. But 1" shy. I'd rather take a skunk than a sub-legal halibut. It's both disappointing and insulting.

Fishing the End of the Alameda Rock Wall

If you want to catch big halibut at the Alameda Rock Wall, try using swimbaits instead of live bait. Casting lures allows you to cover more ground and carry less gear. Includes tips and techniques specific to swimbait fishing and landing fish at the Alameda Rock Wall.
yo yo! no new videos for 2024 yet! everything okay??
Hey what’s the name of that swimbait
What swimbait brand are you using
Do you/ can you use the same rod/reel and test for both halibut and striper? I live a few minutes from the rock wall and want something to keep me busy while I have a line with cut bait waiting for some bigguns to bite. Awesome videos!
Thank you! I do use the same set up for both species. At the ARW, due to strong wind, current and deep dept, I use a swimbait rod rated for 3 oz, and usually throw 1-2 oz swimbaits.
Happy wife happy life.
Awe yea live action son of
The realest fish hound you know 6 hrs plus a day fishing
What lbs line u running?
About to head delta tonight see if i can hit one in dark with swim bait
Do you know how long they run till? Or are they gone during the winter? Thx
They're gone. I got skunked last four times I went out. Only got 3 shakers during November.
Is this the Hayward regional shoreline?
You've hit then on both high and low tides. You did a shorter walk rather than the long walk? Is it safe to park there? I parked and walked the trails from there once.
Yes I feel like it's pretty safe. Most folks who come here are walking their dogs, biking or fishing. Thieves get a better bang from Southland.
I was going to try Dolittle Bridge/Harbor View Ferry area today but fog is terrible for my drive from East Bay; maybe tomorrow. Do you always use swim baits? @@wellthoughtoutfishing1534
Where is this? It doesnt look like rockwall.
No longer live in California, when I did was an avid striper fisherman. Saw the rapid decline of fishing, 80's/90's. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems the fishery has really rebounded! Yay!
Well, this was definitely a rare occasion. I can't compare how its now to back then. All I'm sure of is that the schools of striper come in waves as they migrate from the bay back into the delta for winter. So, sometimes they're here, sometimes they're not. I was just lucky to be there when they were.
Wow! You really nailed them! What an incredible day. Lucky?? Looked like a long day too!
Yep stayed about 2.5 hours. I lucked completely.
2.5 hours is not as long as it looked. Incredible action per hour!! A dark swim bait too!@@wellthoughtoutfishing1534
im going to this spot tomorrow
awesome video. I love the tips along the way
Good job out there - I get my biggest stripers at night - thanks for sharing
Nice Catches - Hayward that is what I am talking about.
Is that the tubes near South San Francisco?
No I'm in the East Bay. This is Hayward.
Thank you. Tight lines
You returned to this same spot at low tide too for that frenzy! Have you had any skunk days there? How many hours do you put in per trip.
That spot has been pretty dang productive. I'll stay as long as the tide is moving, usually 1.5 - 2 hours.
Thanks! I only fish for 2 hours at a time so that makes me feel better.@@wellthoughtoutfishing1534 Some folks spend half a day. If stripers are there they aren't hesitant to bit.
Was that a low out or incoming tide? Striper fishing can be that: a crazy frenzy or absolutely nothing! Nice catches especially; the big one. How much longer does the bite last there?
It was an out going tide just about to bottom out. I expect the bite to stay relatively productive until November.
Love the reel but I’m not sure what the rod is besides Phenix. What rod is that?
Yeah it's a Phenix feather.
@@wellthoughtoutfishing1534 really? I have two feathers and that doesn’t look like a feather but I haven’t used them in awhile.
Hey, any tips for late fall in the east bay? Would love to get some striped bass or halibut
I made a whole video on this. Check out my other video "Hayward special, slough stripers." In a nut shell: throw lures on the outgoing tide at the mouth of any slough. Keep at it and you'll eventually get bit by stripers. For halibut, it's more complicated, keepers are usually caught in deep water and you need crazy luck.
@@wellthoughtoutfishing1534 any specific lures you'd recommend?
@@mazmurlo9283 any swimbait or jerkbait. I've caught stripers on all lures, even crankbaits work also. Everyone is throwing the Storm Shad, but I usually use a big hammer.
@@wellthoughtoutfishing1534 Thank you, looking forward to seeing more of your vids
Excellent video. I like the step by step instructions on how to properly fish the swim bait. Nice Hali!
RE: Your recent night fishing video. Wow! that was a nice bite! With no light!! That's a long walk in the dark. Maybe they hear (vibrations in water, lateral line) the wigging swim bait in the dark. You fished the bay side and not canals?
Didnt know I turned off the comments for that video. It's not too far of a walk. One of the more accessible sloughs to fish it you know the area. Only in this particular slough, I'll fish the Bayside and not the canals.
I've viewed aerials of that area and walked from maybe Winton parking out that way; worried about safety of my car. But the trail/pathway was great. Northern more entry looked better but parking was more remote to water. Do you ever fish the Dolittle bridge/Harbor View ferry area or the San Leandro Marina pathway? @@wellthoughtoutfishing1534
@@ronmodafferi8202 cars are generally safe there. Thieves are usually hitting up BayFair. I've fished at veterans pier and around there including the bridge. That canal between bay farm and Alameda is good for stripers when the tide is moving. Yes I have caught stripers at the marina also, but not as consistently. I usually avoid those area due to the crowds.
Thanks for all the feedback. I enjoy your videos. Tight lines!@@wellthoughtoutfishing1534
Hey man, what swimbait we’re you using?
Big hammer. But I cut off some of the belly to make it more smelt shaped and less shad shape.
I just saw you caught a striper on the bay side of your area. Was that a long time ago or recent. Has it been good? Or slim chances of a catch?
It's fall. We get a glorious 3 months of striper fishing before they head back into the delta. Fishing is good now!
As an avid lifetime fisherman, mainly boating, it is my goal to fish that wall one day
Where in Hayward?
I'm new to halibut fishing but really want to learn all about it. Any chance you'd be going out there to rockwall or in Alameda? Would love to learn from you. Thanks!
I'm gonna try to head there at least two more times before the end of this month. I'll let you know. The halibut bite has already significantly died down, and with the summer, there's even less chances of getting a keeper. Just setting up your expectations.
lol feelz
Nice catch.....and smooth tunes too. A man of culture you are.
Well was it there at the end by 530am today. Lost 2, one probably to small the other felt life a ball of seaweed till it pulled back. Had weight, but popped off,of course it hit on my back up rod with a softer tip, and couldn't get a good hook set. Trust me, I cussed repeatedly
Glad you got bit. Sorry you didn't hook up on the big one. I know the feeling. I get skunked 9 out of 10 times whenever I fish the AWR. Keep at it, you'll hook a keeper eventually.
Nice I'll be on it next Saturday at 5am hitting the 2 b4 and 2 after the 7am high tide.
Nice Halibut 😊 👍
Wow great video!!!!!
when is the best month for halibut fishing at rockwall ? can i still catch it now ?
Spring months are the best... April is the unofficial start of the halibut season. Yes, with a lot of effort and some luck, you could hook a keeper. Expect a lot of skunk days though.
What would you do if u caught a shaker? Not well thought out lol
Flip them on a flat rock.
Lol “thankyou wife for letting me go fishing as much as i want” mann i wish my wife let me go fish. She never let me go… mayb twice a month…
That's her favorite part of my videos
Nice catch. Seen you walking back from where you were yesterday with your trophy 🎣. Awesome day yesterday. A lot of Halibuts and a few strippers were pulled up. All keepers. A couple got away though. 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼. FISH ON!!!
Haha yeah that was me. Dang good haul yesterday!
@@wellthoughtoutfishing1534 I wish I knew then what I know now. I would’ve said Hi. But, I was the first one that said congratulations when you finally walked on the somewhat smooth concrete. LoL. Small world.
@@Tight_Lines_Uce Always nice to see the regulars there. It's pretty hard getting a keeper off the wall. Everyone goes bonkers whenever anyone manages to. Haha Thanks!
Nice catch !! Long pole/rod with treble hook to make final landing. Lots of casts in 3 hours. Good ending!! What bait and/or rig?
Swimbaits. 1 oz jig head. 5" swimbait.
@@wellthoughtoutfishing1534 Thanks! No stripers at your older spot?
@@ronmodafferi8202 I haven't been back. Not enough free time haha.
@@wellthoughtoutfishing1534 From that catch you're using your timely wisely. Wish I could give a HA HA with a grin!
Nice, and u didn't even have to go to the end of the wall. How close to the turn of the wall were u?
What rod are you using?
Phenix feather 7'4 MH.
@@wellthoughtoutfishing1534 I knew it was a Phenix rod but didn’t know which one. I too use Phenix rods M1 inshore,Trifecta, and Recon elite. I had a Feather spinning rod until I slammed my truck door on the tip 😱
@@marvinlagua1376 sad to hear. Did u pay the replacement fee and get another? I love Phenix blanks. Hate the reel seats.
Been in that area once. Is parking safe near there? Do you long walk, jog or Ebike to your spots???
I just walk. You gotta park pretty far and walk, either down Grant or Winton. Hayward shoreline is pretty safe, it's far enough away from Oakland.
@@wellthoughtoutfishing1534how long walking to the shore?
Your last HOT spot produces again!!! Much searching and casting time for the hook up? What lure; white swim bait? Released; keeper size?
Hooked up about an hour into fishing. Tried 3 other spots before. 3 inch swimbaits, smelt colored, not white. This one spat out the hook and got away.
Do u let the swim bait hit the bottom then do a slow retrieve bouncing off the bottom
That's exactly what I do.
@WellThoughtOutFishing nice I've tried it once from the wall being a bay area native. Out in the valley now
Awesome catch 🎣. Beautiful Halibut Thanks for sharing your video. Hope to run into you someday. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
That’s one hell of a walk to the end, gotta love the booby trap boulders that shift and rock when you step on them. I’d hate to take a spill there.
After doing it so many times, it doesn't seem as long anymore. I timed it to 17mins from the boat dock to the end. This is of course walking fast with my eyes looking down at my feet the whole time. I almost ate it here a few times, mostly stepping on algae covered rocks on the lower tide.
Nice catch good size flounder 🎣🐟
redwood city? bair island? smith slough?
Looks the same, but this is across the bay. Hayward.
nice catch man!!! Only thing this video is missing is the funky music! But in all seriousness, don't pack up your stuff! It's crab season now!
I actually tried to get into winter crabbing a few years ago. Except I found out its illegal to crab in SF bay. I think it's legal after you pass the golden gate bridge, correct me if I'm wrong.
Added some funky music haha
@@wellthoughtoutfishing1534 Its illegal to keep dungenous crab in the bay but outside the bay they can be kept. For rock crab they can be kept from inside or outside the bay
