The length is exactly what your body type needs. I'm the same. Low contrast buttons are a great solution. If I made that cardigan, I think I would double the collar with a fold to give it more body.

Ok: Felix… love it. Suggestion for future cardigans with ribbed button bands: afterthought button holes. Just sayin’ 😊 Re: possible sweater design. Try calling it a self drafted sweater for yourself. This may decrease your self imposed pressure/expectations. If it works great, maybe move forward with actual pattern design, maybe just enjoy your new sweater. If it doesn’t work, oh well, we all have sweaters that didn’t work out as expected. Move on. As a weekly viewer of your videos I just like to see what you are working on. You are so authentic and that’s what I like.

The Isa cardigan looks great on you. I think negative ease on these type of lace style cardigans looks better often. Anyway it really suits you. It gives me that 50s vibes when ladies used to wear those little cardigans over swing-skirts. Am Also glad im not the only one in an endless game of russian roulette with gauge. Pffff

About your Stria, a thought came up. My Teenager wished for a big blanket (at least 150cm by 180cm). So that's a longterm project, at least for me. The way I deal with it is, I want to knit at least 2 50g balls of yarn per week on that (on holidays at least 3), and then I move to my other currant project for the rest of the week. That way I don't feel pressure, I don't get fed up and It will be finished for next christmas even If I don't want to knit on it in the summertime. So mabey something similar would work for you too? Like knitting half a inch per week and then put it away in example. And let it get finished when it's finished. No pressure

Two things: Rachel, your videos are such a bright spot for me during this, a very weird and wacky time in my life. I so appreciate your perspective and energy. I love the notion that a so-called error is instead a memorialization of an important event! "Failed" to meet the goal? Wow! I'd say that, if that Stria is the only one (or even that and some other) that you "Passed," the goal, but perhaps with a B+ instead of an A+. When I set myself ordinary, daily "ToDo" lists, I feel victorious when I get to about two/thirds of them.

Happy New Year! The test-knit of Leslie's design is fabulous! When it comes out I'm going to order the pattern! About projects that provoke negative responses: You mentioned wanting to just throw it away (which is a doable response), another viable option would be to give the unfinished object to some charity or organization that could pair it with someone who wants to finish it for themselves. Another podcaster that I follow has a "Finish (Fix) It February" feature--similar to your push to get older stuff off the needles--and "Roxanne Richardson" has various suggestions for flexibly addressing our different responses to WIP/UFO proojects. Have you considered frogging the partial sleeve on your Stria and then just binding off both armholes to make it a vest? I think the shape of the cardigan would lend itself well to a vest version!

Some folks are process knitters (*waves hi*) and others are product knitters. It sounds like with the stria you're a product knitter and that's why you keep putting it down when it's no longer pleasurable to knit. I have no real suggestions for getting it done beyond maybe working on it during your morning coffee at least a couple of times a week so you keep that forward momentum going, but feel free to ignore that and knit what brings you joy!

OK, I’m clearly a complete sicko. I am currently working on Andrea Mowry’s Briochealicious and it is KILLING me. Doing each (incredibly long!) row twice is making me want to throw it in the bin. However, as soon as a laid eyes on your Stria, I inexplicably added it to my Ravelry queue and I’m now desperate to make it. A glutton for punishment, I guess.

I can relate to your experience with the half fisherman's rib stitch. I'm 1/4 way through a Lanark sweater in half fisherman's rib and it's been in the bag for a while.... As much as I want the finished product, it is so slow and driving me crazy. I can't fix my mistakes yet in HFR so this is really frustrating too.

I don't understand why people get soooo upset about pattern sizes. Why can't the designer do what the designer wants to do. There will ALWAYS be people bigger than the range no matter how many sizes they scale. There are like a zillion patterns out there. Just move on and don't blackball a designer because they don't scale for 1,000 sizes. Not that you were negative at all. I'm just sayin' in general. YOU ARE FABULOUS!!!

Hi Rachel, love your work. As a newer knitter(long term crocheter)I have committed to doing 4 rows a day of my first major project, would this work for your Striya? You have inspired me to be a monogamous knitter. I tried to count all my crochet PHDs with no success. That being said, there is inspiration everywhere I turn😂😂😂

Oh my nerves, your Stria Cardigan is absolutely incredible. I loved when you showed it before but I still do. It’s too bad it’s not enjoyable. Your colors are so amazing. Just pick away at it a bit at a time and maybe less frustrating. Your darkness boo boo dosen’t matter and I love that you look at it as a memory of that time with family. That’s perfect and a great outlook. You are amazing, really. A great podcast, as always.

Your Felix cardigan looks great! I was knitting one in a dk yarn and a mohair and I went down on my needle because I couldn’t get gauge on the large needle. I also thought it was too sheer. I’m a newer knitter with not much experience in knitting and I ended up frogging mine thinking I had the wrong yarn or wrong gauge 😢. Hearing you talk about your Felix I should have kept it ugh ! Oh well … you live and learn…
