Wood Hill Park Model Railway
Добавлен 17 дек 2020
Join me as I strive to bring the 1980's back to life by building my dream layout. I started during the covid lockdowns and continue to build into the future.
I'm a plain old railway modeller, not a vlogger, and just wish to share my work and skills. At present I make no money from doing so either. That may change when I finally retire. I hope you enjoy the channel now and into the future. Cheers Graham 😊

Hi Graham, enjoying the build series it’s looking great. Would small magnets be any good for your top pieces to stop them falling?
Hi Graham, enjoying the build series it’s looking great. Would small magnets be any good for your top pieces to stop them falling?
Do you know what, that's not a bad idea Robert. Thanks for that and watching the channel. Cheers Graham 🍷 🙂 👍
Love it mate watched every video looks fantastic 👌🏻
Thanks 👍
Hi Graham, great minds think alike l have been building a small representation of a cement works on my layout too. Mines also blue circle l am naming it blue circle cement, Kenelm named after the flats were l live in Coventry. Thanks for your inspiration. Ron@ Willenhall Parkway.
Sounds good, pleased to be of any inspiration. Atb 🙂
I have thoroughly enjoyed watching all the projects you have embarked on this year. The layout looks fantastic and I can't wait to see your next video great job ATB Chris
Many thanks Chris, really glad to hear you've enjoyed the channel, and I hope you continue to. Atb Graham 🍻 🙂👍
Great job Graham, think you`ve got the balance about right, not to busy, got me thinking on a few other possibles for my layout, currently making some bits for an oil refinery.
Sounds good Clive, always glad to inspire and promote the hobby. Atb mate, Graham 😊👍
Looks absolutely Cracking Graham, Great set of videos from start to finish, and is certainly inspiring stuff, and as I am about to start on a Quarry on my layout based on one of Tarmacs Quarries in Derbyshire. its given me some food for thought, Best Regards Colin
Very glad to be of any inspiration. Atb Graham 🙂👍
Looks brilliant Graham thanks for sharing the progress
Only too happy to share and pass on my experiences for what they are worth. Hopefully, it will promote the hobby to the next generation and beyond. Thanks for watching. Cheers, Graham 🍷 🙂
Looks really great Graham. Wrapping the beam really blends it into the background. Great night look too. Hornby Dublo 4626 Pressflo Bulk Cement Wagon or Dapol B683 Presflo Wagon Blue Circle, running 1966 -1980 are available via the net too. Cheers Arthur
Thanks for the heads up. Cheers Graham 🍷 🙂
there are quite a few items you can't buy for the 70s and 80s construction workers is another. Yes I remember Redland, St Albans Sand and Gravel, Tarmac which I think were in Kentish Town. Great work
Cheers, thanks for watching 👍
What a imagination you have and what a terrific job you have done. I was watching that wooden roof support and thinking it is spoiling the illusion, covering the beam has made a big positive difference. I thought the bobbin looking chimney looked wrong and reducing it was a definite improvement. One negative comment Graham when you are speaking it is difficult to hear what your saying with the trains running, so please either turn sound fitted loco sound off (if that is causing the problem) or stop trains and start them when your finished speaking. As regards adding more? sometimes less is best. So what is that imaginative mind going to come up with next? I await with baited breath, Bill.
Cheers Bill, I do struggle with sound level as I'm not a loud speaker either. I take your point though, as it's been mentioned many times. Atb Graham 🙂👍
That is awesome sir ❤
Cheers 🍷 🙂
Great job on Cement/Aggregates building . Nice detailed build showing all the stages,, Looks great .. Well Done x The Bigfella x
@bigfella1952 Cheers, and thanks for watching 👍 🙂
It looks great. My thoughts on the gravel pile... If the edges keep wanting to raise up, I would glue some gravel around the bottom of the pile (no more than 1/8"), and set the pile on a sheet of wax paper, kinda squishing it down so there are no voids or gaps around the pile. After the glue dries, the wax paper should peel right off and hopefully leave a flat bottom surface around the edges of the pile. Anyway, keep up the good work, and I'm looking forward to what you come up with next.
@BSNFabricating That sounds an interesting idea, may well give that a go, cheers. Many thanks Graham 😊 👍
Hi Graham, I have been following this cement and aggregate factory build, I think you have done an outstanding job, It looks so realistic , I also subscribed to your channel, thank you for sharing with us.
@morganmarty Thanks for joining the channel, and I hope you enjoy future updates. I'm glad you enjoyed the building process of my latest project. Atb Graham 😊👍
Well you had fears of disappointing. Your fears were unfounded Graham. As expected, it looks superb, that hard graft has paid off and I'm delighted for you, as you seem really happy with it too. Going from my very hazy memory, It looks like a mish mash of Meldon Quarry and the old Cement works that was at Ferryhill to me. Love the lighting, that night shot looks so realistic. Massive thank you for sharing Graham. Been a very enjoyable 3 part video. All the best. Mickey.
@mickeybarrass3625 The night shots do give a good atmosphere. Seemed sharper when I played it back directly. Now RUclips has it, it looks a bit blurred and washed out. Looks great in real life though. As you say, I'm very pleased. Thanks for your support Mickey it's really appreciated mate. All the best Graham 👍 😊
Nice work Graham, best yet! The mail yards a close second and a favourite of mine. Enjoy Potters Bar tomorrow.👍
Nice to have you on board, Steve. I'm glad you enjoyed watching the build. Atb mate. 🍻
Very realistic Graham ,a nice blue circle livery shunter would look great in the sidings mate All the best Mark 😊😊
That's a great idea Mark, will keep an eye out at the toy fairs. Atb mate 😊👍
Great work Graham. You've done brilliant job, I like the way you built up the plant with different components. The weathering shows up well and the night scene looks just right. Cheers, Karl
Thanks Karl, it was a enjoyable process with a bit of poetic licence involved. Cheers Graham 🍷 🙂
Pure genius! Have enjoyed watching you construct your cement works. Many thanks👍
Many thanks, very glad you enjoyed my little trilogy. Atb Graham 😊👍
Ow, on behalf of all American cement mixers, ouch!!
Broke some rules with this one, but ha ho. It's only a model 😉🙂 Ps. I see what you mean now... don't worry, no American cement mixers we're harmed in the making of this film. The cement mixer I used is still not british as since probably the 70's we don't make anything anymore. 🙄😩
Guy big j that's what the truck is
Cheers, read it but forgot on camera, which is often the case with names and me. 🙄 cheers for the heads up. 🙂👍
Well in my opinion, that looks absolutely fantastic, The positioning is perfect Graham, Hats off to you. Another superb addition to the layout, 👍🏻👌👏👏ATB Stuart
Cheers Stuart, I did enjoy this project very much myself. I'm glad everyone is enjoying it with me. Makes sharing knowledge a pleasure, still learning myself as well, never stop. Many thanks, Atb Graham 😊👍
Wow! Finally got round to watching the trilogy of the cement works , absolutely brilliant mate, looks amazing and a credit to your ability and vision, enjoyed that ! Cheers Darrell
Thanks very much for watching my trilogy as you say. Need a medal if you did it in one. Cheers mate 👍
@ 🤣 yes done the lot this evening, thought I’d save them up and watch from start to finish in one go while I was doing some tinkering on a couple of wagon projects 😃👍
@darrelldeltic807 brave man 🤣👍
Thank u, u gave me the confidence to do the hardstanding around me diesel depot😁👍
I'm very glad I have given you the confidence to have a go. Modelling is all trial and error really. But the clay method for hard standing works really well, IMO. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Atb Graham 😊👍
Absolutely brilliant!.....even though I model in n gauge is great to see scratch building content.....I am also a keen scratch builder so appreciate the time effort and the head scratching to get it to fit in.
Very glad you enjoyed that update. Cheers Graham 🍷 🙂
looks awesome sauce
Cheers 🍷 🙂
Graham looking good couple of points to note on the concrete aprons the edges would be square and vertical as the concrete would have been cast against formwork, along the back you have sloping concrete which is almost impossible to construct given the fluidity of wet concrete. Presumably the concrete is there to run vehicles and the like on which you would not be able to do with sloping concrete.
I guess I should have squared it and then added the slope with a gap.🫣 Can't get everything perfect. But it's noted. May sort out in future. I did divide my loco shed hard standing with expansion gaps so probably should have done the same with this. Cheers Graham 🙂
It looks fantastic. Well done! Maybe surround the Blue Circle roof with a handrail? I see at least one ladder on the roof so people are intended to access the roof area. H&S might shut you down otherwise.
Yep I get the health a safety thing. More detail to add. 😁👍 it is the 1980's though so health and safety only just getting started before we ended up in this current woke world. 🤣🫣 it's not all bad I know, saved many a life. Cheers Graham 🍷 🙂
And then i see you have done it .
No problems, it certainly makes things look better. I do listen to people and way up whether I want to go ahead with an idea. Many thanks, 😊 cheers mate 👍
Hi Graham. The more I keep looking at this build the more I think that if the wooden beam was the same colour as your back drop . Then it might blend it in better. Just a suggestion and an idea for you think about .
Added in this update, maybe you missed it. Cheers
Amazing video mate once again only question I have are you sure that's the wife's roller 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅 look forward to next one your details and layout is amazing 👏
Yep it's the wife's roller alright. I promised to clean up like new. Better do that or I'll be wearing it. 😁 many thanks Graham 😊 👍
BRILLIANT ❤
Cheers 🙂👍
Hi Graham, This just shows how a little lateral thinking can turn something that doesn’t work into something that works better than if you hadn’t made the mistake in the first place! 😅 Let’s face it, very few larger structures are ordered and logical. It’s as though you have created your own rehash of history, like where lines are abandoned and then realigned to work better, but they still have tone old footprint. The builders didn’t start with a blank canvass, they had an area to work around and repurpose like in reality 😎 I think you should make more mistakes personally 😜Cheers mate 👍 🍀 🍻
"Lateral thinking" I have been thinking about this project while I've been sleeping.I keep waking up with more thoughts on it's progress. Sad I know, but I've really been enjoying the process. Thanks for your insight, it is definitely food for thought. Cheers Graham 🍷 🙂
Love it ❤
Glad you enjoyed it. Cheers Graham 🍷 🙂
