68 Charger ( Under The Lights ) Polished Jet Black Paint Job
Got some built motors in canada right now
Roughly how much silver flake did you use ? Roughly 1 teaspoon per litre of unmixed clear ?
I put a tiny pinch in my first full cup of clear. I sprayed a light coat on. After letting it dry for about 20 minutes. I cleaned out my gun and spread two medium coats of clear without flake in it. Hope this helps
@RustedNBusted perfect thank you. I like this method. I think most people completely overdo the amount of flake. A pinch to a cup
Whats the color code
Ford UA without adding all the colors that make it milky brown
That sounds so seweet! Thanks for sharing ! (= got a 396 or a 427 hp hanging back there?? (=
Hell yeah.I have a 396 and a 460. I might put the 460 in the truck one day.
Did you use a valley pan gasket ?
No Valley Pan gasket was Necessary
Hell yeah she looks like a bass boat Love it
Little less flake . Makes it even deeper.
Plug early Cleveland 2v heads on it instead n mill them a bit will gain a little compression there plus they flow better ! Those D5 heads have built in smog and water jackets chokes them down !
How much horsepower do you think that will add?
@ about 20or30 little more with cam and stainless valves witch i have in mine. Big difference over the D5 heads !
That shot thru that metal way better than I thought it could. Like most people, I liked at that little machine and laughed. Oops, my bad. That is a perfect DIY plasma cutter. Nice video. Thanks for sharing it
@@johnholmes6897 I've been using it in my shop since I posted that video. It works every time with no issues. When it dies . I will buy another one for sure. The trick is keeping the tips clean. I switched out the handle to a slightly better one off Amazon that has cheaper tips.
You’re wrong about the round headlights
What do you mean? We're there round ones in 79 ?
The only 4 bbl. intake that I ever used on this engine was the Offenhauser dual port 360 that was perfect. Also used the Holley model 3310 manual choke carb. Otherwise everything cast iron was mach ported & polished inside & out including heads and used the Holley 500 2bbl man. choke carb. Plus with the right gears, a real blaster in performance. Were restricted to use 2 bbls. in the sportsman class dirt track racing. All of those engine set ups were used with 4 speed manual trans.
Thanks for the great info! So far this intake is working well. In the future I would like to change the crank and make it a stroker.
Man I’ve got a 90-4x4 extended cab - driver side is rusted out and in the back jump seat because of a hole under carpet not seen for years- lmc doesn’t make a skin for the back seat area so it’s cowboy time to mold some metal i guess- love this ole truck - it was dads -gonna take my time and keep it in the family
Definitely worth saving!
Tmeyer can help.
Not sure what you mean?
@JohnnysRustedNBusted they have parts. I rebuilt a 400m and used their pistons. Just a parts supplier to keep in mind. I don't do body work but I do engines.
Your work is masterpiece
Thanks!
A lot of work for sure. Good job on the video
Thanks! So glad that the job is finished.
i have 77 105,000. should i jump from refresh good running enging or open up stock heads valve work cam pistons rods bumpcomp, to 9,5 ormore
Go all out. Might as well while you're in there.
351m/400 is junk yall, don't waste your time. Send them to me because i just love junk.
Just subscribed…. Will be tackling this exact job on a new purchase. 7.3 4x4 with low miles. Some of these vehicles are worth saving if you’re not afraid of the work and picking up new skills. Hard for some to understand with todays throw away culture. Thanks for posting these videos and looking forward to watching more.
Good luck with the restoration my friend. I'm glad these videos help !
Hi... I need your help...❤❤❤
How can I help you ?
Just look at those open chamber NO POWER HEADS!!! You can dump a fortune into a 351M boat anchor and it still will not perform like a 390 or a 440.
True that! But try to tell that to a customer who wants a factory restored truck. Sometimes a low mileage truck with a numbers matching engine means more than horsepower.
Sometimes it is just easier to swap cabs with a rust free cab.
It would be great to find a rust free one. Swapping the cab is a lot of work too. I would personally rather cut and fabricate metal then swap dashboards and steering columns.
@@RustedNBusted Cutting and fabricating are one thing, but the welding is a whole different thing. If only I could still see good enough to weld I would be doing your type of repair. I used to GASP gas weld on whole Subaru front clips. I used a tiny 000 size tip and I used coat hangers when I ran out of 1/16" welding rod. Of course, I still took the cars to the alignment guy afterwards. I really liked welding. I envy you. Take care of your eyes.
Do you have a video showing how you replaced the cab support?
Sorry. Unfortunately I don't have a video for that.
Hi
Hello !
Did you feel like it gained power?
@@Gillettesgarage It gained a little power . It runs smooth through the rpm range now . Definitely worth the small investment
can I get a shopping list? This is my go to video for talking myself into a 351m. Did you put Cleveland heads on? I Heard they offer better compression.
I used fel pro gaskets and seals. All parts are available at Auto Zone
@@RustedNBustedintake and carb I mean! I love this video btw.
The 351M heads are basically the same two barrel heads that came on two barrel equipped 351Cs from. 70-74. The Cleveland four barrel heads had bigger valves and poets and are probably what you’re referring to. The two barrel heads also had huge valves.
This was so helpful man, thanks heaps! Watchn and fixing my 400m from NewZealand. And havn a beer or 2👍
Glad I could help !
NIce I have Subscribed !
Thank you ! Enjoy the videos my friend !
Johnny This video has been a help, I have a 79 Bronco I am fixing and because it is so far gone, I am not certain how the rockers fix. Might you be able to give me some technical help. Thanks
Sure. I can try to walk you through it.
@@RustedNBusted I gather I can cut out my bad rocker then once that is sound/structural again, bring the floor patch to it. How does the floor pan fit or fasten to the rocker? Thanks
I'd swap those multi groove valves asap. They are know for dropping, and taking out engines.
I don't think it's the number of groves that breaks the tips of the valve . Its a matter of side load that will break the tip. The less groves the valve has the less the valve will spin .
@@RustedNBusted Ive dropped two of these in two different engines. the head (large end in the chambure) pops off and wedges in the piston, splitting the block. the groove count is a sign of its age. Wishing you good luck,
Interesting. Well hopefully that doesn't happen to mine. It's been running strong. I appreciate your comment @@beecj0
How much would this cost?

@@RustedNBusted WOW, what a wonderful source. Thank you sir!
Wicked channel man. I got 1980 Bullnose 351m, and you’re giving me courage to pull it.
Thanks bro ! Comments like this motivate me to make more videos ! Have fun with your project truck !
Its Stan, from Mass. I just messaged you. Do you have the part #'s for those cab pillars? Cant locate them. Im at work rt now. Not a lot of time to look it up. If its convenient for you, Id appreciate it. I didn't even know they existed and it would help huge for other side and the rear driver side.
Hi Stan. Unfortunately I don't have the part number. That truck came with all those pieces .
Hey bud, Im doing the exact same in my 96 psd. The same. I got both in and out rocker back on and primed. Also the bottom floor piece. I didn't buy the pillars tho. Didn't see them offered. Looking up rhe parts now. Thank you for that. I fabricated the front pillar w pieces of old fender. My body mount is ok. New bushing had been purchased last summer. I just caught your vids. Real quality! Im spot welding the crap not seen. Its so strong compared to b4. Replacing everything but the cab and motor...pretty much. Got into the manifold replacement while at it and its exposed so nicely. Don't know how Im gonna figure out the bolts locations yet. Anyway, just thought Id write. I subscribed. Im learning how to weld w this project rebuild. Take care. Thanks for being able to see it in advance. 🤙
Thanks for reaching out! I'm glad my videos are helpful . Good luck with your project my friend!
Is that black metallic?
No it's solid black.
@@RustedNBusted I’m thinking about painting my chevelle tuxedo black. Is jet black and tuxedo black about the same darkness?
@@Mark-p6q3n Honestly I'm not sure. Jet black is a very deep black and looks great on an old muscle car.
Need the color code
Ford UA. Leave out the white and yellow
Beautiful work! Im just wondering how much clear and how much silver flakes you mixed on you first coat.
Thanks! Just a pinch of silver in the first coat of clear.
engine timing, low compression, and mild factors cam shaft are why hp is so down. not the intake. best hp gains will come from a cam and timing. next would be pistons or lower cc combustion chambers to counter the pistons stopping so low in the cylinders. a four barrel might give you 10 to 15hp. your intake eliminates the egr and your fuel milage won't go up. if your lucky and drive easy it will not go down much. fyi. this is basically a detuned Cleveland for tourqe. this and the 400 were only 170s for hp but tourqe was well north of 300 ftlbs. most common upgrades are an rv camshaft, intake, and more aggressive timing. this will give you the most bang for the buck. in the right hands these are verry good engines.
Great info Nathan. I completely agree with you. I did a straight up timing chain to go with the carb ,intake and headers. Every little bit helped the old girl.. The truck runs great. It's a nice driver. Definitely under powered to today's standards. But it has that great classic sound.
Can you repair mine?
Just frames anymore these days.
SOUNDS LIKE SEX
What can i clean my gas tank out with
Vinegar works pretty good. Get the real strong stuff at home Depot. Dilute it with water and leave it in the tank for a couple weeks.
Oh COBRA,DOPE
Hell yeah! You're the first person to get it. LOL
A im here,the,good ,bad,ugly, funny stuff
You're the first person to get it... Cobra.. 80s movie's rule !
What grit sandpaper did you use?
320 dry then 600 dry. Da Sander with soft 3m pad
Can you rebuild mine
I wish I had the time
Hey did you use the valley pan gasket for that 4 barrel intake?
No valley pan gasket required
Would like to have seen it assembled and on the bike
Me too. The customer never brought it back for me to see it together.
wow
Thanks !
