2023 Chevy 1500 3.5 Inch RC Lift
In this video I installed the Rough Country 3.5 SST lift with quick struts. What is a quick strut you might ask. It's a strut that is ready to be installed no pulling the old ones apart. This is a great option for an older truck or for someone who doesn't keep the factory strut.

    Retrax Pro with the gloss finish on my '14 Sierra and still looks brand new after 195,000 miles. The only problem I have is that about a year ago the right side lock stopped opening with just using the flap. I have to open the tailgate and give it a slight tug backward for it to release. I just want to see other options now that the price is so high but will probably go with another on my new Silverado.

      You really can't go wrong with any of these covers. If you are looking for a hard folding I would recommend the Undercover Ultra Flex. For a soft rolling cover the Truxedo Lo Pro would be my recommendation. Best of luck finding your new cover.

    I have a 2024 GMC Denali ultimate 2500. It comes with factory power steps and they have LED lights that turn on only when you get in and off the truck at night but I want them to stay on while driving. I was wondering if you know a way that they can be wiredto my running lamps, please let me know

    • @XtremeTruckAuto
      @XtremeTruckAuto 6 дней назад

      You would have to find and cut emove the lights 12v wire form the factory harness completely build your own harness for the lights. This isn't hard because it just power and ground (I am assuming). The hard part would be finding the wire for the lights in the factory harness. Then just run that to the power source (a parking light or aux power) and add a fuse. If you wanted to you could also wire in a relay that way it is pulling power straight form the battery. The thing is those led lights are going to pull so little power I doubt a relay would be necessary but you will want to fuse them with a 5 ish amp fuse possibly a 7.5 amp fuse. Keep in mind that any warranty on the steps would be void. Dealers don't like you messing with factory things like steps. Keep in mind I have never done this to factory steps. So I would know were to look for the wire. But yes in theory it could be done.

    • @XtremeTruckAuto

      Who knows you might ask the dealer if there is an option for that. possibly programing or through a menu.

      Verify the YMM of you truck to make sure the boards are correct. Then at 6:50- 7:05 in the video I point at the plugs that I used. If the wiring is still not the same I would call their customer support. THE NUMBER IN THE INSTRUCTIONS. That is important because it will get you to amp costumer service not a Real Truck rep. They will be able to help you out. I know they are short staffed right now but they are good a telling you where you need to go next.

    Did you have an issue installing the new Lower Control Arms (CE-9114)? the CE-9114 won't fit between the RC frame bracket. did you have to grind down anything?

    • @XtremeTruckAuto
      @XtremeTruckAuto 10 дней назад

      I did not. My joints slid right in. I know some times I have had this issues with other parts on different kits. All I did was spread the bracket open a bit and tap it into place. This most commonly happens on cross member brackets on truck lifts 4 inches or bigger. So do to tolerances in manufacturing this can happen. That's what I would recommend.

      The shorter lower metal line coming out of the radiator goes to the upper hose/line going back to the transmission and the longer upper metal line out of the radiator goes to the lower hose/ line back to the transmission. Or at least that is how it is on mine.

      I should be able to get it into spec. If for whatever reason they can't get 100%. Sacrifice a bit caster to get camber in. When it come to caster the cross caster is the most important but that is with in reason. Any good tech should be able to get it in and drivable.

    When my steps deploy I can hear the gears in the motors. Is this normal on the PowerStep XL? I have installed 2 sets before this (basic model steps) and they were super smooth. Sound is on both sides so I assume it's normal.

    • @XtremeTruckAuto

      With the amp step XL tend to be slightly louder when it come to the motor because of the linkages being mounted to the rocker bar instead of the rocker its self. This in turn allows for more sound to reverberate due to that bar. With that being said it shouldn't be a crazy amount louder.

      @XtremeTruckAuto Месяц назад

      That is not true. Whoever told you that is full of it and needs to read the install instructions. All three of these cover are designed to have there rails parallel. It's done with how the rail and canister are made and some sort of shims for the rails to get them as parallel as possible (there is some margin of forgiveness). For example the Roll N Lock has you add to brackets to the bed by the bulk head and some butyl to fill the gaps on the front edge of the bracket. Retrax does it though the bed rails being wider that the bulk head than the tail gate. It is important that the rails are parallel as possible so the cover can function smoothly.

From what I have been able to find, Retrax is not an option for the Gladiator, so it comes to Truck Covers USA or Roll N Lock. One minor point is that the Gladiator already has 4 potential drain holes that would work if I went with Truck Covers. Any thoughts between these two? Question for you! 2023 suburban is very similar, with the 2024 suburban I just got while swapping from the 2023 the connector colors changed in the kick panel but, the same wires are still there. I’ve got everything all set up but they will not deploy. My worry is they changed colors of the wires I need to tap into and so far I can’t find any answers. Waiting to hear back from amp. Any suggestions on how to find out which wires I need if they changed colors?

      You want the shorter end of the block to go to the front and the longer end towards the rear.

    How do you remove the connectors to gain easy access to the wires?

    • @XtremeTruckAuto
      @XtremeTruckAuto 2 месяца назад

      If you go disconnecting plugs from the BCM you will want to disconnect your battery. I believe there is a little tab that you will push towards the wire and you will pull the plug out. There might be a safety tab that needs to be pulled down to allow that tab to depress.

    • @LarryStetz
      @LarryStetz 2 месяца назад

      It was so easy to wire with the connectors removed. Just pull the small tab out and squeeze the connector and it will come right out. I removed the negative battery terminal and no codes were thrown. Thank you for your video.

    Very nice job detailed and easy to follow. ? 4 U. I have a 2024 Chevy 3500; My OBD2 connector only has two wires coming out of it; one wire is all purple and the other one is purple with black stripe and I have those connected. Did the one you installed have the blue and white coming out or did you add those two wires to the OBD2? The steps do not currently work as the steps must need those two tapped wires with the blue and white wires to trigger the steps. Thoughts? Thanks!

    • @XtremeTruckAuto
      @XtremeTruckAuto 2 месяца назад

      They came as a part of the step wiring. As for adding them I wouldn't know where to begin. What I would do is reach out to customer service and double check the steps are correct.

    That’s a light mount bar not a bull 🐂 bar the difference between the two is a light mount will not push anything heavy and a bull bar is mounted to the frame so it can take an impact without damaging the bumper

      You can pull the plug if needed. As for pulling the wire out of the plug its self no. You are going to use there supplied wire taps.

    Would you mind steering me in the right direction? I took my tie rod bar off and placed it next to my new assembly to get the measurements as close as possible. I noticed that the old one has a tilted tie rod end. Do I match that tilt angle on the new one to get the same measurement? Or do I leave the new ones straight and measure as is? Thanks!

    • @XtremeTruckAuto
      @XtremeTruckAuto 3 месяца назад

      I personally would try to keep everything a straight as possible but matching it wont hurt. It's not 100% necessary to be perfectly aligned. If the are too far off it in theory could cause binding issues but I have only really seen that with heim joints. Ball joints are much more forgiving.

    The hardest part is where and how to install the control module in your engine bay. As stated, wiring is not that hard. Came to find out where and how you secured your control module, did not get info, disappointed and frustrated.

      Are you Installing it on a Jeep similar to mine? Because the mounting can differ greatly depending on the application or even with what engine is in the vehicle. The easiest way to do it is to use the velcro they provide with the trigger and mount it on the fuse box that is typically located near the battery I have done this and it works great. I Just have mine wedged in-between the battery and the AC line that runs just behind the battery it has been this way for years and I have had zero issues with it. You could also see if they have a mounting kit for your vehicle I know what applications they have brackets has grown in the past few years. The last thing is you could do is build a bracket for it but once again that would differ greatly depending on the vehicle it was getting made for.

    • @tmaretzki

      Velcro crossed my mind after seeing another video where it was mounted to the top of the fuse box which had not crossed my mind nor was it mentioned anywhere in the instructions. Also my six shooter didn’t come with any velcro, but easy enough to get. Thanks for the reply, apologies for being a poopy pants. I ended up screwing it to the top of my fuse box. Probably should’ve used velcro but I was too lazy to go looking for it.
