Hi Bert and thanks for your review. I used to own a Fender Cabronita Telecaster. It was my No 1 gigging guitar. Then I bought one of these Squiers. On a comparison, it felt better, sounded better and played better than the Fender. So three years ago I sold the Fender, and now the Squier Paranormal Cab Tele is my number 1 gigging guitar. BTW I also own a Gibson Les Paul Standard, a Duesenberg Starplayer, Fender US Strat, Gretsch Anniversary and Mexican Baja Tele. Played them all live and they are good. But I like the Squier above all of them. A remarkable instrument.

Wow I just got the same guitar I’ve had it for a few weeks now and I haven’t played it because it’s a guitar for the studio and even though I play bass playing the guitar is a different animal so I just wanted a few different instruments on hand just Incase so I hope this one is different enough to get some use

I have the same guitar. I definitely hear a difference. The Burstbucker sound is more like the classic rock sound I grew up on, a little reedier. I like the versatility of the Trads though, particularly the coil split options. To me it sounds like your burstbuckers have more sustain. I get what sounds like fret buzz on mine but is apparently caused by the pickups. The tradbuckers have strong alnico Vs in them and they interact with the strings unless you have them screwed way down. Almost sounds like a rattling, but there's nothing loose and it even does it at the 22nd fret, so it's not coming from the fretboard. Through an amp it's not an issue for me and I'm happy overall, but unplugged it's very noticeable.

The history and artist association is really a hurdle for me. I love P90 pickups because of 1950s blues which i play and i can't bring myself to play a guitar with modern looks although it might be a better guitar than a Gibson style guitar. Stupid, but can't get over it.

I actually unsubscribed from Rhett’s channel about a year ago or so. It got to a point where he seemed to have a condescending bias about certain brands, and this video highlights a lot of that. It’s a shame, because I used to like his channel years back.

Thanks for the demo. I bought one and have the same amp. Question - in your video the humbucker has a chime to it. Mine seems overly mid-rangy, especially compared to the D'Armonds. Did you do any adjustments on the humbucker. It's really bugging me. Thanks!

Yep, one thing I've learned over the years is that YOU DON'T NEED TO SWAP PICKUPS! You can do the same thing new pickups will do with an eq pedal, or just adjusting your amps eq

Hard to beat an SG for reaching those high notes.

The quality/price ratio aspect of Yamaha guitars is the best in the market IMO.

To talk like that he should have played a top of the line made in Japan revstar , but it looks that sweetwater don't want to lend that instrument maybe bc they are more interested into sell the low models made in Indonesia ,and BTW Indonesia make great guitars I have a few of them and probably I will go for the revstar ss20 this Christmas, that guitar is around 700$ a`nd it's way better than any 2000$ Gibson

It's called a dry switch on the version 1 guitars, and on those it drops the bass to sound more like a Fender single coil. On the version 2 guitars it's called a focus switch, and it drops the highs and boosts the lows and mids to sound more like a humbucker (as was demonstrated with the jazz example). edited: a word

I picked up a Cabronita quite cheaply a while back. Love the thing. I use it for my open tuning guitar. Great for slide. I've been told that the Cabronita pickups are actually P90s with a Jazzmaster cover. The big thing is that it's LIGHT.

Be warned that the Indonesian made are not the same quality as the MIJ. I received my brand new Revstar RSS02T packaged from Yamaha and it had two high frets, tool marks on the fretboard, cracks in the binding, a poorly fitted, poorly cut nut, fisheyed paint spots and back bowed neck. Yamaha customer service was non-existent. Luckily the dealer paid for a local luthier to fix it up short of the tool marks and water in the paint so be warned!
