EVO X HKS cat back and test pipe review. BIG SURPRISE AT THE END!
Hey , when you placed the engine stand in the engine block , what size bolts did you get ?
The cover helps keep out hot engine air duhh
Hello Mike u used to live in my basement
Keep the mivec
Hey man quick question so I have the same setup with the Hobbs switch and even though I’m tuned for 40 psi I don’t get into much boost and my car stays in the garage mostly but recently I noticed my primary pump is discoloring the fuse which I get is caused by excess heat and resistance but I checked my wiring and there’s no corrosion or broken wires but the only thing I found was a very tiny amount of play in the secondary pump so I tightened the nut but is there a way to test the fuel pump itself? My fuel pressure is 50 psi which I’m turned for so it’s not losing pressure and I’ve had these dual pumps on the car for about 2 and half years so they are kinda old.
You could hook up one pump at a time and key on and watch the gauge. The second pump only works in boost depending on what you have is set at.
What ECU you using?
Stock ecu but I’d advise against it
@michaelgettle1977 any codes you had to erase? check in lights etc..?
There were plenty of codes but to be honest the reason the channel stopped is because 2k later in tuning and multiple people later. nobody was able to tune the car. Had it on the dyno on the stock ecu drivability was terrible/undrivable. All depends on what’s done to the car also though
@@michaelgettle1977 how come you didn't go with a Syvecs or Motec plug and play ECU?
Thousands of dollars lol long story short just after my last video we decided to move to Florida got it tuned down here and that didn’t work out. Started up a bunch of other stuff here and that’s about it. I have lots of connections now in performance world here so I’ll be doing a stand-alone soon
Well I still reply if I have questions after years of this post 🙈
I’m going through this install right now and for the life of me.. I can’t get the second pump to turn on with compressed air. I’ve followed this video exactly how it’s supposed to go lol.
I don’t use this account much anymore. If you have questions. Mikegettle_evox on instagram. I can answer questions
No more Evo x videos?
For now no I’m focusing on my evo customers. Hoping to pick back up on the car again since my move
Where did you get the back plate and rear subframe mount ?
I believe stmtuned
How did you get a shop like this to do this at ?
It was at my old work
Damm, I feel this job is going to be around 2000$ ...fuc
It is definitely not cheap lol
Cool ur from Wisconsin!!! Thinking about doing this
I’m in Florida now lol but I highly recommend doing the swap
would you happen to know if this clutch master cylinder or the maperformance one will fit on a 09 lancer gts.. can't find any answers anywhere
Not entirely sure but my guess is that it would/should fit
Man i just watched this 3 times and shit i feel like i can do the diff my self after seeing this video. Great work on showing what needs to come off to move things around. I been looking for something like this for a while.
@Michael hey bud, i saw that your were having issues with your mivec, i am have the same issue i did the delete in my exhaust but in my intake if i do a log in evoscan the invvt is stuck to 9,10, and 11 but doesn’t go higher than that. Could we talk more thru facebook. Im deciding if also deleting the intake side since i am getting a cel light
where are u man?
Like content wise?
@@michaelgettle1977 yeah man. Need more evo content aha
@@zAce31 been meaning to post again but I moved and now working into opening a evo shop. Don’t have time to work on my own anymore lol
Did you have to buy bulbs for the high beams? Or does it not have high beams?
What's the instrumental music called? 3:26
Thanks Michael This vid helped.👍 I didn’t replace my fuel pump, but had to siphon the old gas out. Car has been sitting for 5+ years, due to no compression in cylinder 3, Got the head off few days ago.

Any update on your evo x, i’ve seen a video you got it tuned, i just want to see if your mivec issues are fixed, as im having little issues on my intake mivec i only have the exhaust mivec delete i can’t wait to tune my evo x and ripped on it thanks
I switched tuners 😂 that was my problem. set your mivec gear at 0 degrees. I’m hoping to start doing videos here again and give an update on everything
@@michaelgettle1977 well i did switch tuner too first got a base map and the car barely run and kept stalling on stop sign when and i only got 2 revision from this guy not naming names he then blame my intake mivec being off , i tried doing it myself, with the help evanstuning academy watch his video i finally got the car to idle good and able to drive around to break in the motor its not perfect as it's still base map, next month im schedule for a tune hoping everything will go well
Good deal if you have any other questions you can message me on my Instagram mikegettle_evox I’m curious on who you are going with tuner wise
What happened to this car.
I still have it a lot of life decisions happened and will be bringing it back very soon
Wouldn't the Hobbs run the signal wire on the secondary pump?...
The signal has to be hooked up to both pumps that way the first pump runs as normal and then depending on what you set your Hobbs switch to (psi) wise will kick on after that. I have mine set to I think 5psi. After the 5 psi it will create a connection and turn that secondary pump on. I spliced my ground and put my switch there.
I would not wire it for how Michael is saying for a couple reasons but this is how I would wire it. So you will have a Hobbs switch and quality, 5 pin automotive relay. On your Hobbs switch, one side should go to a keyed, +12VDC and the other side of the Hobbs switch should run to pin 85 on your automotive relay. Pin 86 should go to a ground. Pin 30 should go to high amp, +12VDC source. Pin 87 should go to the + side of your secondary pump. Pin 87a is unused. This way your Hobbs switch circuit is not caring the higher amperage for your pump and giving it a longer life cycle.
Hey buddy I'm currently doing this job on my buschir double w / 450s how exactly did you do the Hobbs switch relay?
Really interested in your build. I want to do a 800hp build myself but want it tuned down to last. Maybe 650-75 whp. Blew motor up in my 2012 evo x 2 years ago started buying parts last year. Very cool to see a recent build on RUclips to the power I plan as well. Sleeved is a must. Had to buy me a used motor cause I threw a rod so crank scored hole in block and girdle busted. Found a 09 ralliart 4b11 in Canada for $2000 shipped only needed bottom end so was the cheapest route to take.
Hell yeah it’s a fun project to get into. These engines are pretty easy to build a make some good numbers.
Yea it be awhile longer bout to pay car off and need to buy a house so it’s on hold. But will be back on soon hopefully
I respect the grind. Priorities first definitely
That’s who I want to sleeve my block.
They did a good job forsure
Would regular ralliart axles work with this swap?
Yes
Is it better that way for the Evo. I was thinking of doing it to the Evo 9 MR.
For the acd/ayc to be deleted?
@@michaelgettle1977 Yes the acd/ayc is it better for car if it's deleted.
@@tylerhastings8308 not necessarily. it’s just they can be spendy to keep replacing and I already had most of the swap. For me it just made sense with mine since it already failed and the x having a weaker rear diff also. They are great units when functioning properly. If it’s not broken I would keep it.
@@michaelgettle1977 oh ok my as well keep it I was gonna tune to 1400 HP for doing track racing, drag racing and a daily driver.
Nice work and vid 👍👍. Wish I had a shop like that to work in :)
Thanks. That was actually at my old work. a lot has happened since then I will be coming out with some updates hopefully here soon
i am doing a stage 2 tune, with downpipe next, and this car rocks. 2014 a5 cabriolet, same 2.0t, about 320 hp now. added coil packs, remote start, added a smarttop controller. both remote start and smart top were plug and play, no wire cutting.
Very nice 👍
Do i need a tune after i change my test pipe?
Yes
I also got the HSK dual. I love it. There's videos on the channel.
Your guides are great. What state are you in?
I’m in Florida now
you have AC delete?
Yes I do
What double pumper setup is that?
Radium
@@michaelgettle1977 just saw it after watching until the end lol
It’s a pretty solid set up but thats their older one. they have a new one out now
@@michaelgettle1977 the newer one doesn’t use that huge bracket correct
@@MotoDJS1KRR yep it’s like a slim version
What is the pitch and size bolt to mount the engine to the stand at the top? Thanks for documenting this
I don’t remember how go the top of my head I just used the trans bolt to match them up.
@@michaelgettle1977 Okay no worries, seems like the thing to do. I'm refreshing a motor before dropping my current engine so I don't have the trans bolt to hand.
@@michaelgettle1977 thanks for the reply anyhow
Do you need relay for each pump? Assuming that’s why you have two?
Yep. One for each pump
I know its long overdue now .. But if anyone sees this and runs into the same problem.. You can just buy an Extended T-55 Bit from Napa to get to the corner head bolts.
You’ve come along way in your videos bro nicely done! I really enjoyed watching this one and learning some stuff didn’t feel like I was at boot camp watching this one with a TI pointing at me lol
Lol thanks dude I appreciate it
If you leave the cover on you did not put the rubber on properly, you need to place the rubber band around the aem cover
This was satisfying to watch. A true natural and good workmanship. 👍
This is great video. Thank you so much. Just sent my 8/9 Diff to Shep, and will certainly need this video when it comes back. A+ man.
Thank you 👍
@@michaelgettle1977 Did you have to bleed the AYC/ACD pump after loosing fluid and looping the line? Or did you just refill and call it a day?
@@Maty1t I just looped it and called it a day but my pump is also fried. I don’t believe you would have to bleed the ayc but I could be wrong
nice evo i have a evo x mr going single exhaust hks or greddy and dont believe ots maps i had a 2g mazdaspeed 3 with ots map stage 3 hit it hard for 3 yrs brother no issues with supporting mods 264hp 394trq dyno

@@michaelgettle1977 you moved from hayward?
@@JohnCena-kn9tv yep we moved to Florida this morning
@@michaelgettle1977 good luck out there
Im having troubles installing the part back into the clutch pedal, in the instructions it says it snaps back on like the oem one but idk
Yeah it was not fun at all lol I had to take the clip out because it doesn’t just pop on like it says. Once the clip is out it will pop on and then you have to try to put the pin back in
any advice, im struggling 🥲
You deleted the AYC not the ACD by swapping the rear diff, which I agree is more suited to bigger power. By deleting the pump you've lost ACD in the center diff. Which now will be an open diff... You should find a Ralliart pump and put it in to run the ACD. It will make a huge difference in handling and help with traction since you'll be pushing so much power.
Yeah I know it’s not ready to be driven really yet I’m deleting the pump all together and controlling the front diff manually
@@michaelgettle1977 manually? Do explain? As there's a hydraulic clutch pack in there.
@@MitchChubey I’ll be doing a video on it in the future
Im late but I'm very interested in this as well. I trying to delete mine in my dedicated racecar. If there's a way to delete the pump and keep the center diff engaged plus fill me in
There is a way canton racing. Use a accusump. You can use it with a solenoid or manual lever.
what boost reference did you use?
For the Hobbs switch?
@@michaelgettle1977 yessir, i’m tryna install mine soon.
@@40Rollx I just hooked mine up to the intake and put a T so I could run both my blow off valve and the Hobbs switch.
@@michaelgettle1977 ty bro, last one 😂 did you run a 12v from battery and trigger wire all the way from trunk to the bay or did u source a 12v from the bay?
@@40Rollx I ran a wire from one of the 2 relays in the trunk all the way to the engine bay and made the switch under my intake filter that way I could pop that filter off and adjust the settings on the switch if I had to
Hey Michael, did you used the stock ECU with the mivec delete? Mine is broken, and I went with the torque solutions, but it is not working right. I want to go with the mivec delete, but not sure what else I would have to change. Any info would be great!
Yep I’m still on the stock ECU. You shouldn’t have to change anything but the cam gears and the sensors out to plugs that come with the gears. You also don’t have to do both deletes. I would do the recommended exhaust side bare minimum though. I had to play with the timing adjustments on mine to get the car to run right.
@@michaelgettle1977 thanks!
No problem 👍
Do you still gave the stick pistons and rods ? If so would you be interested in selling them ?
Yeah I do and stick head parts also. Send me a pm on Instagram we can work something out mikegettle_evox
@@michaelgettle1977 Hi, i just encounter this video, and im willing to buy the used crankshaft please
I appreciate this video. Would you mind explaining what you are looking for when measuring the crank and the pistons and how to determine what measurement you are looking for. Also where you getting the torque for tighten the bolts. Are you using the oem spec to tighten the bolts down. Thank you in advance.
