Lonely Wild Pony in 4K
This little guy was apparently separated from his band. We spent about 20 minutes trying to get him to stop following us, as we didn't want to take him further away. He finally decided we weren't going to be his new herd. Cutest little guy ever though! Definitely wild, there wasn't a ranch or a domestic horse for many, many miles in any direction.

    I’m curious if you try airing down your tires first (assuming you’re not high centered)? Also, some cheap recovery boards from Amazon may be a lot easier than looking for railroad ties.

    • @DaveAffleck
      @DaveAffleck 4 месяца назад

      Yes, airing down is standard operating procedure as soon as we leave pavement. So, already aired down before being stuck. I've never had much luck with even very expensive name brand traction boards in these kind of situations. As soon as a tire starts to spin you just melt the knobs off or even melt through them. They have their place, and I can get them at a steep discount for the big name brand, but in my experience, they aren't worth carrying around.

    With this process dose the neck wall thickness get thinner Or thicker?

    • @DaveAffleck
      @DaveAffleck 6 месяцев назад

      Thicker for sure. Depending on how much of a neck down you are doing, determining how much thicker. I always neck turn anyway so a non issued for me.

      @Denwrecker 6 месяцев назад

    • @DaveAffleck
      @DaveAffleck 6 месяцев назад

      @@Denwrecker That will barely thicken the necks. You'll need to measure for safety, but neck turning shouldn't be needed unless you have a tight neck chamber and then you'd be neck turning anyway.

    All you need to do if set your hilift jack up at the Back of the truck and lift the back until the wheels are clear of the snow. The higher you jack it the further away the truck will fall. then push the truck to the side. The jack will fall over and the back of the truck will have moved over. Do the same with the front. Continue doing this until you can drive out. Usually it only takes one or two times until the truck is free. All you are doing is getting the truck out of the rut. You can use this method if you are stuck in sand snow, mud or dust. Alternatively get a winch.😊 hope this helps someone.

    My immediate reaction was a bit of anger that you didn't help that poor foal. But then I took a step back and realized that this is how the food chain and mother nature works. Its sad but there will always need to be a something like a lost foal to feed the predators that keep the wild horses numbers in check. While its sad to see its crucial for a healthy ecosystem.
