Learning 5: H. Aaron ben Elijah's Commentary on the 10 Commandments in Deuteronomy 5

Learning 4: An Introduction to the Karaite Liturgy
Просмотров 1,6 тыс.3 года назад
We look at the strings of biblical verses in the Karaite siddur of H. Aaron ben Joseph and show the absolute genius way it is constructed. We also look at the recent mantra put together by our community in Israel and show how it is 100% traditional - even if it is not historical. Learning 3: A Karaite Perspective on the High Holidays
Просмотров 4,5 тыс.6 лет назад
There are many beautiful traditions for the Seventh Month. How many of them are required by the text of the Torah. In this talk you'll learn: 1) Whether we are commanded by the Torah's text to blow a shofar; 2) What the Jewish sages said about the connection between Yom Teruah and Yom Kippur; 3) What are we supposed to do with those "four species", and 4) what holiday has Simchat Torah overshad...
Learning 2: Beyond A Blue Thread: How Blue Fringes Lead to a Sanctified Life

In this second learning, James Walker walks us through various communities and how they approach the concept of blue fringes. He also discusses biblical source texts, as well as Jewish commentaries to help explain how the commandment of fringes leads to personal sanctification.

    I believe that Tefillin are de-rabbanan (from the rabbis), and wearing Tzitzit is what physically represents tying the Torah to one's hands (actions) and head (thoughts). However, you spoke very briefly about mezuzot. Even if one doesn't agree with the way the rabbis interpret the commandment, I see no reason to reject its literal meaning. Our doors have numbers attached to them that identify our house address. Why not attach to our doorposts the words we're explicitly told to repeat, teach and put in our hearts, "shemá Yisrael Adonai eloheinu Adonai echad ve'ahavta et Adonai elohecha bechol levavcha u'vechol nafshecha u'vechol meodecha" to identify one's home as well? In my opinion, something similar to this would cover the peshat. ruclips.net/user/shortsucHf904bdQk

    Karaitism is hypocrisy squared. In Kashrut they denigrate mainstream Judaism as not being literal. They claim that only literally boiling a kid in its mother's milk is Treife. Yet when it comes to T'fillin they denigrate mainstream Judaism for being literal, saying that it is a metaphorical Mitzvah. All Karaitism is, is contrarianism. "Every man for themself in terms of belief & practice." Sounds great until you realise that they have marriage & death rituals, & umpteenth others, & just as much dogma. This is all apart from their failure to make amends for their role in service of the Waffen SS in the Holocaust. The convert Apologist Gordon engages in Holocaust Revisionism in trying to pin all the atrocities on Karaylars, even claiming that it could not have been Karaites as there were none in Europe at the time!!! Calling the eyewitnesses "confused," claiming that the 17 Petitions to the Reich were all made by Karaylars! Despite the last ditch effort to avoid extinction by finally accepting converts, the movement is on the verge of extinction. Not even their Chief Rabbi Firouz leads a Frum existence. In Israel the vast majority of second generation Karaites have married into mainstream Judaism. Even amongst first generation it is prevalent. In Moshav Matzli'ach for example, only 2 second generation married fellow Karaites and those were cousin marriage. The creator is from the single Karaite Shul outside of Israel. Apart from a handful of converts that shul is of primarily elderly. Daly City is far from their homes do when people go there on Shabbat they drive...yet they claim even having a light with a timer on Shabbat is Treife. As I said, contrarianism.

  • @Melungeonpeople
    @Melungeonpeople 9 месяцев назад

    I must say as a Karaite Jew that even modern Karaites have it wrong. The Law is ONLY Deuteronomy. Moses says repeatedly do what I tell you this day and STRICTLY add nor substract anything. That is the Command. Even tho circumcission isn't included in Deuteronomy it was performed prior to crossing so it is the only thing outside Deuteronomy that can, with reason, be applied as Law also. It is as if modern Karaites advocate just the Torah but don't actually read what Deuteronomy says. Moses is very very clear on this. I invite all Karaite Jews to read it. There is absolutely no way anyone can argue with my assertion without sounding like a Rabbinical Jew. Deuteronomy is the only Law.

      Since you believe that all your sins have been "forgiven" because you believe J. Christ "the savior" died for and instead of you, you are in real trouble! Please don't kid yourself. Not only are you still sin-laden, you have added a new, terrible sin to the old batch! You are guilty of idolatry for worshiping a false "savior" and god. The word of YHWH plainly states that He (YHWH) alone is Savior; (Isaiah 43:11). He alone can forgive sin (Isaiah 43:25). He alone is the True Deity (Isaiah 43:10)!! Moreover, you cannot "believe away" sin! Magic plays absolutely no role in the system of sin and atonement established by YHWH, the sole Creator of this universe and pure God of Israel. Atonement by "faith" is not part of YHWH's setup. The only way a sinner can get his sins forgiven is by repenting and; by doing and fulfilling what YHWH wants him to do!! YHWH says: "Again, when I say to the wicked, you shall surely die; if he turn from his sin (repents) and do that which lawful and right ("good works")... he shall surely live, he shall NOT die!! NONE of his sins which he had committed shall be remembered against him! He has done that which is lawful and right! He shall surely LIVE!" (Ezekiel 33:14-16). Ezekiel was a prophet of YHWH. He wasn't a Christian preacher! In Moses' day, the repentant sinner usually (NOT ALWAYS) offered an animal sacrifice to symbolize his "giving" and YHWH's "accepting". Later prophets elaborated on how animal sacrifices are worthless without obedience: "Behold, to OBEY is BETTER than sacrifice!" (1 Samuel 15:22). "Do I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats?" (Psalms 50:13). "By practicing mercy and truth is sin atoned for!" (Proverbs 16:6). HOW can you come to YHWH? YHWH provides the answer: "Return, O Israel, to YHWH your almighty, for you have stumbled in your iniquity! Take with you WORDS and return to YHWH! (WHAT words?) Say to Him: forgive all iniquity and accept GOODNESS (good works). Thus, will we offer, INSTEAD of bullocks (blood) the offerings of our LIPS!" (Hosea 14:2-3). According to the word of YHWH, NO ONE can die for you! If you don't believe me, read Exodus 33:31-33; Deuteronomy 24:16; Ezekiel 18:3-4. But YHWH's demands can be met by you, if only you will know the truth. You can come to YHWH on your own! Read YHWH's word! "With what offering can I come before YHWH, and bow myself before the Mighty One on high? Should I come to him with burnt offerings, with year-old calves? Will YHWH be pleased by thousands of rams, with ten thousand rivers of oil? Should I give my first-born for my transgression (human sacrifice, like the crucifixion!), the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? It has been told you, O man, what is good, and what YHWH (not religious doctrine but YHWH!) requires of you: ONLY to DO what is just (YHWH's COMMANDMENTS) and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your Almighty!" (Micah 6:6-8). Hallelu-Yahh, praise YHWH! His Salvation is open to all! No believing in fairy-stories, no bloody crucifixions! No "divine suicide" on a Roman Cross! Plain and simple is the Way of YHWH! Will you take Him at His Word today? Circumcise your heart, loosen your stiff neck and remove the JC scales from your eyes. Read at leisure with an open mind through faithstrengthened.karaitejudaism.org/FS_TOC.html

    How does the Karaite movement address the historical reality that all Second Temple sects of Judaism wore tefillin? Doesn't a historical precedent around which there was a strong consensus play a role in determining what the mitzvah means?

    • @ZviJ1

      < LMFAO > What consensus, an Orthodox one (because I'm unaware of any other one)? This "historic reality" is a patheic, laughable revisionist Rabbinical lie that is refuted by the independent Second Temple Jewish sources (notwithstanding the lie by the "Aristeas Letter"), so the Qaraite movement doesn't have to worry about it.

    One correction. The Catholics are not biblical Christians, and it's a bit unfair that the "Crusades" and other atrocities of old resulting in Jewish oppression, are labeled as "Christian" movements. Protestants don't appoint priests or popes, don't pray the Rosary, and don't partake in the adoration of saints or of Mary. There are no statues to which we prostrate ourselves before. In short Catholicism is counterfeit Christianity seeped in Idolatry. Anyway on a different note, what do you guys think about the discovery of murex trunculus, as possibly the original source of the blue dye for tzi tzis?
