people think you out there playing but rippin the pit bikes DEF transfers over to the big bike! Heck yea man sharpen the skillz
I need all the help I can get... I plan to go to an actual kart track soon..
Hey hey I saw myself in your video! Im the white R6 with the blue A. For some reason I totally remember you and dude talking before that race. That is so scary to catch a false neutral in that high speed turn because you are expecting the deceleration of the bike to hold your suspension loaded while you dip in. Good save man! I caught a false neutral twice after the tunnel coming down the hill because I wasn't down-shifting hard enough. Thankfully they were in practice. Great videos bro keep em up!
next time you see me at the track, holla at me.. and yeah, false neutrals are a bit nerve racking... glad yours didn't end bad either... and thanks for watching my vids.
Mighty impressive. You made it look easy, but I'm sure it is impossible....for me. 😀 There is a lot of artist-like skill in it. Heck, just laying a straight line takes a good amount of talent. Some got it, most don't. Great job.
honestly, it is easy, but time consuming..
This was great.
thank you very much, I appreciate it.. What helmet do you currently have?
What’s your camera set up. Would love to run on my helmet

much appreciated as always

thanks LB
Great video as usual. I was going to go up there but missed it. See during the off season man prepping for next season sir.
Thanks a lot man... see you next season..
Great to meet you this weekend man. Sorry I didn't make it up to top to touch base but I'm sure we'll meet up again. Keep putting the work in!
Likewise man.. You doing Road Atlanta next year?
deftonessss
Gtreat band.. Saw them live a few years ago..
If I had just a bit more money, I'd lend you my '22 XSR900 because it has a quick shifter up and down, 6-axis traction control/ABS, and aftermarket suspension. I recently did a Barber trackday, and while we're probably about the same lap times, my new tech bike is incomparably easier to ride through those heavy braking and hard acceleration turns. I'm not new to trackdays but I am new to 6-axis equipped bikes like the XSR900. It was such an easy bike to ride that my heart rate never went above 105 bpm. My 600cc bikes without ABS/TC or a back torque limiter were difficult to ride. New bike tech makes a lot of difference.
id love to ride a bike with all the good electronics. but there is a part of me that's old school and want to properly learn how to ride without them before I move to a new bike with electronics. but thank you, its the thought that counts.
It sounds like you either start to strain or run out of breath while racing
Yep, idk if you also race or do TDs but yeah the fatigue is real, pushing for a 15-lap race is brutal and off-season conditioning is important. This is a good reminder that I need to do a LOT of cardio before spring
@ghosk i race and do trackdays as well, ive only had that issue this past summer during an endurance race, did around a 45 min stint in july in georgia
@@codycreger1968 that's awesome, yeah I'm trying to start ASRA and N2 Endurance next season. To your original point I only strained and ran out of steam like that when I was trying to do too much, hang off too much, push too hard, forget to breath, etc. Coaching def helped me, maybe it can help this guy!
based on how I sounded, I do need to work on my endurance..
dude were going to Bushnell nov 5th and 6th to ride Supermoto if you want to meet us down there for 2 days of practice!
5th - 6th? that a Tuesday and Wednesday.. id love to ride down there, but I have to work and probably can't get the time off, I just took time off to attend this race at barber..
Awesome, hope you keep us posted over the winter. 👍
Will do for sure..
Looking great out there! what a save, that was a lot of grass at high speed to still keep it upright. I like the Supermoto off season practice idea. I grabbed an old husky 610 sm for cheap to beat on this winter myself for the same purpose. Look forward to more.
I won't even call that a save.. it was pure luck lol
@@smithshotracing Don't downplay it. When shit happens, loose on the bars, light on the pegs, no panic. Those are skills! Good job.
Good work. Just keep at it. No one goes fast right off rip. Specially not us older guys. lol. Takes some time and a lot of laps to get comfortable to do what some of the faster guys are doing. Just keep having fun and enjoy it first and then second worry about lap times and positions.
Much appreciated... and yes, im still having a lot of fun.. looking forward to our trackday next year.
Huge respect for putting yourself "out there". I'm just a "noob" as far as racing on the track goes. A very large part of money I invest in racing goes into classes and coaching. Learning the basics good enough so you don't have to think about them while you are racing around the track is priceless. A good coach will be able to help with your motor controls on the bike(brakes, shifting, throttle, etc), body position, reference points(braking, tip in, exit), vision, fitness/breathing, seems like the more I learn the more I realize there's a whole lot more I need to learn. "Seat time" is definitely needed, with good coaching it's priceless. It will humble you every time you roll out onto the track . Great job keeping the shiny side up. Stay teachable, stay humble, get it! Keep yourself safe! 😃👍❤🏍🏁 Randy
I was like, damn, that’s a long comment. But you are 100% correct in everything you just said. Seat times and proper coaching is required. I’m booking a Trackday in two weeks and am currently talking with a coach today to work with me that Trackday. So thank you Randy!!
@@smithshotracing 😜My passion for the craft sometimes comes out in my comments and I get a little "carried away". I'm grateful for the great coaching that I am getting and would love every rider get the same. I say I'm a "noob" but I started track days August of 2021 and have only missed one class since then. Started racing in an "introduction" class we call Super Street in August of 2022. I took the class championship both in 2023 and 2024. Moving up to Novice Amateur class next season. With all that said, I knew nothing when I started and only just barely scratching the surface of the skills needed to get around the track both safe and fast. I would not be anywhere close to where I am without rock solid coaching. It's an investment that pays me back every time I am on the track and the street. Sorry for another long comment but as I said my passion for the craft takes over..... I am hoping I can share at least a little of what I have learned and help someone like I was helped. 😎👊❤🏍🏁
Barber is definitely taxing admittedly. The downhill right takes my breath every time.
@@peytonhibdon7659 just that down hill right? The entire track takes my breath 😆
You mean Museum Turn? I took my XSR to Barber for the first time a few weeks ago, and that turn was terrifying. I'd never before encountered a turn where I was off the throttle at the apex. Or did you mean T14? Normally that'd be a cautious turn for me but traction control was amazing. This was the first time I'd ever used a TC/ABS equipped bike on the track and it's a game-changer. I had three faster guys trying to pass me out of Charlotte's web then highside right in front/beside me. I may be on a 900cc bike, and it's a triple, and I'm slow through corners, but a 6-axis IMU bike is wicked fast out of slow turns.
It would be turn 7 . 7 b depending upon who is describing the track. Your already a bit discombobulated using the left Rumble strip at the top of the hill. Then directly into the downhill right. Definitely works my head lol😂
Good stuff as always. I'm just an I rider definitely no expert. Listen to your breathing. Sounds like your hyperventilating yourself. Might help your focus with better breathing technique. Hopefully this is helpful. 😁
All tips are helpful.. that’s probably why I’m gassed after every race.
@@smithshotracing Cardio time!

Torque specs???
Not gonna lie… and I DO NOT recommend. But I don’t torque them. I just tighten until I feel they are tight enough. So far it has worked for me.
@@Super-Bike-Joe but the torque specs are in a manual that I have, I just don’t use 😂
Dude, this was one hell of a comprehensive review! Good job! Myself, I have the Shoei X15. I have a large oval head so I rock the xl. Fits really well, runs cool, and definitely a bit loud. Ive never had the pleasure to try an Arai, but your review helps get an idea of how they all compare. Keep up the quality vids and thanks for putting in the work for this!
Dude.. Thank you for the compliment and the comprehensive comment Lol.. but seriously, thanks and you are more than welcome.. the vid was a lot of work. im glad you enjoyed it.. and the X15 is a solid choice...
Thank you for the layman’s most comprehensive review I’ve found on RUclips! I opted for the Shoei X-15 as my daily and track-day lid!
you are welcome... and thank you for watching and commenting. the x-15 is a solid choice, it was my favorite before the R10.
O no! Was this at Barber? What happened?

thank you very much and I am looking forward to seeing what you do on the track.. you have no videos yet, but I just because your second sub.. post some vids..
You’re inspiring a lot of riders bro…. Keep pushing and be safe

Check the dogs on the gears...getting a false neutral at top end can be dangerous. Aggressive track riding can wear the dogs out and cause this. Personally though I've found slightly adjusting the shifter down so my toe has to pull up less to fully engage works as well. Or switch it up completely and go GP style so you're pushing down to shift up. That's a good way to make sure it sticks every time. Riding for 30 years (damn I'm old) I could never get used to shifting opposite though. May work for you? Being in Chicago I've only made it as far south as Barber....but I've heard (and looking at your video) I need to make the trip to Road Atlanta happen.
I don't even know where to begin to check them.
@@smithshotracing They are the interlocking teeth in the transmission which connect the gears. Aggressive riding like is done on the track with quick shifts wears them down because often they are expected to handle the torque of the next gear without bein fully engaged. In your case I would first try to adjust your rear-set toe shifter down so your foot has more range of motion in the pull and ensure each shift is fully engaged. Or try switching up to MotoGP style so your literally stomping down into upper gears. I've heard it's cool...I'm just an old dog who can't learn new tricks.
Dude I hope that you don't go to the track alone. I crashed in 99' at Carolina Motorsport park . I was by myself and crashed and ended up in the hospital 9 hrs from home and didn't remember my name the first day in the hospital. ..
not gonna lie, sometimes I go alone.. and I do understand why that's a bad thing. I had a bad crash a few years and ended up in the hospital overnight...
