Amazing tutorial, kind of a Sodering noob here, could you recommend me what exact items we need? It looks like you just have a soldering iron, Flux and wire? Is that all we need to complete this?

I just did the mod following this tutorial... now sound really great and its easy to follow along!!... a minor issue is that if i connect my headset then unplug the gameboy resets, its really weird, but it doesnt matter, now sounds great

Mine throws a pin error, i tried multiple IC's. One leg. This is using XGPRO v12.63 ( think thats the latest) But i saved back what was flashed and compared the files and they match, so it seems the pin error is ok.

So you could even put an LED strip in there, but would it he too much and fry the console?

Couldn't you just run a jumper between the two points where the power comes in? That seems like a much shorter distance.

I know this is an old video but I do want to take a minute out to just say THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting this video. There's very little information about this problem online, and I just bought a Playstation 1 off ebay that was supposedly working but the video for me was black. After resoldering this specific chip the video now works. I doubt I could have figured this out without this video, so again, thank you so much.

easier fix: Shove a bit of speaker wire where the lid switch originally connects. Thats how I fixed mine without solder.

Things Ive learned doing this from experience: 1.Do your research and know what battery your watch uses 2.Lay your watch in a clean surface to avoid scratching the crystal 3.If you have a steel bracelet make sure to disconnect it from its clasp to give you room to work on your caseback and movement. 4.Get proper tools because a screwdown caseback (shown in the video) is harder than you think it is no amount of pliers can open it without scratching your caseback. 5.Once opened get your tools ready and be gentle on removing the battery since you can break the mechanism holding the battery in place 6. If you decide to work with a flat head screw driver to remove the battery please AVOID HITTING THE COIL or you'll have a useless non running watch 7.If youve done everything successfuly good job make sure to blow out any dust before screwing your caseback down.

great video to show how to change out a laser but my issue is why would you adjust the pots on a new one when you could have just adjust the old laser that way and grab another year or 2 before needing to replace it ?

Followed your steps after removing the shielding and plugging in both controller and power ribbons to the PCB I get video out! What would be the next step in my case? Edit: I put the PS1 back together. Booted and again black screen. Until I remove the Ribbon to the laser unit and boot up can get a video out. After putting back the ribbon laser I can boot a few times but it can't read discs, after a few times booting it up, again I will get a black screen. not sure what the issue is Edit2: I read a weird post where you can get your PS1 working upside-down... :D sounds stupid but worked for me. Now to troubleshoot how to fix that why does it only work upside-down!!?

I have a easy 2 step solution for this problem. Step 1 - Throw non working PS1 in trash. Step 2 - Buy another one for $20 or less. 🙂
