How To Wire A Towbar | VW Golf/Jetta Mk5

Instrument Cluster Upgrade, WILL IT WORK? | VW Golf/Jetta Mk5

The VW Golf/Jetta Mk5 and all other VAG cars on this generation have the same issue of the LCD screen fading or even going red-out! The alternative is to get a replacement used cluster usually from the VW Scirocco Mk3 or the VW Golf/Jetta Mk6 which has the B/W LCD display. So I'm going that route too. Hopefully you can help me sort out another irritating problem I have with my Jetta 5. During the first year of ownership a rattle emerged from the left back wheel. If I remember correctly the agent replaced the cast aluminium frame that sits over the caliper and the noise disappeared but a few years later the rattle returned. I spoke to the service manager who said there are two steel pins that hold it in place and they wear. He said a cheap way of tightening the looseness is to squeeze the pins in a vice making them very slightly out of round which takes up the wear. It sounded a bit dodgy so I have never tried it. I was also told the first time it was fixed that it was definitely not brake pad rattle. Pushing and pulling on the aluminium frame one can feel a very slight play. Searching for a solution to the problem on the internet years ago, I saw a set of replacement pins that had two silicone bushes that they guaranteed will cure the very common rattle. I foolishly never bookmarked it and have never been able to find it again. Do you have a solution please?

    Thanks for an excellent video! It really helped to know what to undo and how. I bought a replacement lock from Goldwagen in Pietermaritzburg for R915 and it comes with a 12-month guarantee. Comparing the old and the new very carefully I can't see any difference whatsoever and it even had the same 'serial' number molded into the casing! One further comment to add: to remove the small fixed part of the door handle just keep slowly unscrewing the T20 screw set deep inside the door and eventually the small part starts moving out all on its own and can be gently pulled out without the need for a plastic 'crowbar'! Be careful not to unscrew it completely though, only as far as you need to.

      @@MegatronicsZA My idea would be that it means 25Nm and then for the second torque, 30Nm. But then again, the service manual doesn't mention this anywhere and just says 25Nm. Is there any chance that your attempt on turning 180° could be close to 30Nm?

      Yes all steering wheels from Mk4 to Mk8 will fit. You might only need to re-wire a few wires but it will fit on. Buy at breakers, they are affordable there. You can get a new one at Amazon, E-bay or AliExpress

    Mate, I’m wondering how the exhaust camshaft didn’t fly? I’m afraid to do it that way It’s a lot of force from the timing belt And for sure I don’t want to stripping the bolt I want to it your way Also, I heard there’s a special seal for the camshafts tray and should not use the RTV Thanx🙏🏻

    • @MegatronicsZA
      @MegatronicsZA 2 месяца назад

      @@razieltac5365 if you can look back, there's a steel bar I put over the cam variator so that it can put pressure on the exhaust camshaft, I later removed it after noting that the camshaft was not lifting. That also depends on how much tension is on the belt. The not strip the bolt get someone to help you. I'm not sure about that but I used Reinzosil, it's the best on the market.

      @@MegatronicsZA yes I see your videos repetitive I notice later that the bar didn’t effect much, an I thought maybe you release a bit of tension from the tensioner on the belt Or maybe there’s isnt enough room there to get to the tensioner (because of the upper mount) and you just the first one to discover that the camshafts did not lift if pulling out the cams tray I trying to be the less “surprised” in the process
