Parallel GU81M Tesla Coil (This already SCARES ME NOW!)

Hey! I have a new Update about my parallel GU81M Tesla Coil ! I applied the MOT's in series now and reach the double voltage for the plates now! This is a really big gamechanger! Also now a littlebit more dangerous for the tubes. But all in all it works really smooth and i had no problems jet with internal arcs🙂 Because of doubling the voltage, i had to put my 8 caps for the voltagedoubler now ...

How could Tesla sit on a chair among the spark inferno and not being hurt, is this ground current safe for us, in which frequency range???
the tesla coil receiver must have the same resonant circuit, depending how much capacitance is being used.
if you use a Neon tube of this tube lengths you can see the plasma standing wave bubbles, when the frequency is being changed. The standing wave bubbles are showing the wave lengths
Nice! Did you experiment with a flat pancake primary coil?
Tig welding wolfram sticks, rhodium coded for spark discharge point . let the discharge spark turn at the top.
An interesting thing to try would be burning a red road flare outside upwind of it, so that the arcs travel through the smoke and maybe change color along their whole length. I'm not sure if that's possible, though, since you'd have to assemble and operate the coil outside. A very fine saltwater mist (like from a humidifier or something) might work inside, except that has a risk of contaminating the electronics.
Increase the ground cable gauge to the input of your secondary output will be bigger.
also, a water glass construct capacitor, water has a much higher dielectric than plastic. = @ 80:1.
Layden jars would be easier to build and adjustable for research work.
In the early days of radio capacitor construct research work, they discovered that plate capacitor produces the sound of the tone frequency! So, they rolled it to a cylinder and the sound was gone.
What always interest's me is, should the weight of the copper in primary and secondary coils be the same?
😮, a Faraday cage would possibly protect your electronics (copper mesh) I would be interested in the effect of a Chladni Plate (pattern) configuration through your output (modulated) possibly with salt instead of sand etc... ❄️🔉
@@redloki_53 yes, i think it is getting time for a faraday cage😅 but this is not that easy in my room. I have actually no big problems with electronics. Only with my Smartphone, when i'm really close. Also the W-LAN data rate is a bit less while running the coil. With my SGTC i had actually really worse problems, but not with my VTTC. Interesting idea with the modulated pattern! Unfortunately i would have to make quite some changes, to do some (really good) audio modulations with that coil. i want to do that too and it got requested a lot😀 I need some time for that (and money) to build one. But i will make that in the future🙂
@ effects of some of this specific patterns would have possible astounding properties . Interesting also would be the effect of a fast rotating (output) Antenna.🙂 🤞🏼
Cool demo. Thanks. Would be interesting to see some air pressure, temperature and humidity tests and readings. Seems like it's hard to replicate many HV effects properly, cause it's so sensitive to the air.
@@Kangsteri thanks too🙂 Unfortunately i have nothing to measure the exact humidity and pressure of the air... but yeah probably in the future😁 I found out, that in the last 2 days, it was very foggy outside.. In that time, the coil was running a bit better.. Also the arcs got straighter with the double electrode. So i think today the air is more dry, and my secondary coil has a bit higher frequency because of less loaddown. When i add the long double electrode, maybe i load the secondary a bit more.
Good job man, I’m just getting into this and learning about it and building one, your channel is helping me understand thanks keep it up
@@thomasgodwin3184 thanks for the feedback! Nice to hear that🙂 What type of tube do you want to use? Or do you want to build a SGTC?
I enjoy ur content! Keep up the amazing work just PLEASE B CAREFUL!!! 🙏
😎👍👍👍
Gute Resultate aber geringer Wirkungsgrad. Warum hast Du Steuer und Schirmgitter verbunden?
@LutzSchafer Danke.
nice build nice tubes
@@Sir-Dexter thanks 🙂
what lightbultds you are using ?
@pelos6945 for the feedback circuit? Im using 3 75w 230v halogen bulbs in parallel = 225w I have some normal lightbulbs too, but These actually behaved very different🤔 And at my older Videos im using resistors
Geniale Idee!
That is just nuts! I’d love to have one and take it outside at night for the neighbors to see! 😅
@@jonschick oh yeah i wish i would have a garden to do that😄

@ashercorbett8089 ufff oh yeah thats crazy😄 now i know what you mean😄

Interesting tune!
Incredible power with those tubes: not sure how many transistors would be needed for such powerful amplification. Insane power!!!!
@@sweetdragon36067 The technology at the modern QCWSSTC's is actually a massive difference! With the right build, they acchieve arcs 10 times longer than the secondary coil..sometimes even longer! (Over 3 meter) Here in my case i have now about 90cm, sometimes a bit higher... for sure, for just 2 gu81m tubes it is good, but not near of the peak Power of a modern SSTC. Downsite of such a SSTC is the complexity, cost and the transistors can die instantly by the smallest failure. VTTC's are much cheaper, "simple" and tubes can handle sometimes up to 3 times of their powerrating for short duration🙂 Thanks🙂🙌
@@marvswelt2587 Thanks. My dad became a TV repairman in the early 1950's and remember all the radio's and TV's had huge tubes before the transistor was used in them. They had ridiculously more power(amplification) than a transistor. Good to see they are still being used. I'm really interested in zero point power, but doubt I will live to see the use. Thanks for the info.
@sweetdragon36067 oh these are beautiful memories i bet🙂 For me, tubes had something magical since i was a little kid.. and still today its the same. I can understand that they are outdated in the most applications today,.. but for some specific things, they are still today indispensable😀 I love them especially in guitar/bass amplifiers and audio amplification.
@@marvswelt2587 True. Fender Twin Reverb had incredible power and clarity. Great memories.
@sweetdragon36067 yes, i personally like the dynamics from tube guitar amps. The transition from clean to compressed crunch Sound, just with picking dynamic feels way smoother than the most Transistor based amps ive played. Also that sweet singing compressed clean Sound feels just really good🙂
Nice quick vid. I collected almost 40 of these lol. I ended up being made to have a thin out but of course kept all the old style ones, huge, powerful and actual copper. The output of even 4-6 is fearsome, isnt it? The newer med sized ones were easy to find 2 or more with identical cores. I cut the welds, whacked apart, remove coils, rough core cleanup, quick spray of bare cut with polyurethane, conformal coating etc to insulate, delaminate everything, and when decided what i want(always highest voltage possible and then some😅) reassemble both cores into 2 secondaries and homespun primary e legs to e legs, and i bits to join e - as normal. Kick butt transformer, and when it burns,melts,shorts,arcs over etc, its easy to take apart. The only thing is make sure both originals have the holes in the corners for reclamping together, drilling that silicon steel is really hard and sucks. Thats a nice tidy looking coil i glimpsed on this vid!!!
@@jonlitchfield8888 thats a cool idea! I thought about that once...but the cores of these transformers are just so bad, i just use them like they are, and when they die, they die...dont want to spend too much time on them😄 Im searching actually for a bigger transformer, but cant find anything with 3kv voltage. . I think i have to build myself one, soon or later. Thanks🙌🙂
A little bit of air might help in feeding the foil into the sheet protectors. Perhaps use a vacuum bag for the compression? Plate slap, similar to coil slap.
From the reading that I did twenty years ago or so; maximum energy transfer is available without streamer breakout. This requires a much larger toroid and no breakout point.
@IanDarley The toroid have just a littlebit bigger, to get the right tuning without Streamer breakout. But yes thats right, the most energy goes into the arc in my case.
krass
Wooow!❤❤
I am in awe 😮..... The power and the beauty 😍❤️😊
Vacuum tube Tesla Coils have the coolest spark characteristics. Good work and I like your nice low impedance wiring 👍😎
@@cpunut oh yes🙂 thanks!
Your in what appears to be a wooden attic. Do you have any neighbors nearby? Is that Tesla making any interference? If so you might want to find a metal structure.
@@SkypowerwithKarl yes i have neighbours living nearby. This coil producing for sure interferences, but more in the spectrum of its own resonance frequency.. In comparison, a spark gap tesla coil would have much more weird harmonic frequencys and can really badly interfere with TV and W-LAN. I have actually no problems with that. I hear music over my Smartphone connected with W-LAN while im testing my coil😄 But i think (didnt tested it yet) it will heavily interfere with analog Radio at LW. For sure i would be much better to build a faraday cage, to reduce the possibility to stress some people out with humming on their radios😅
@ Over fifty years ago, a friend was playing with a huge Tesla in his basement. I had just been watching him for a while when I went home. About a mile away I spotted some blue vans with strange domes on top driving around. I made a quick stop at another friend’s house and called the first guy to tell him to knock it off. I’m figuring that he was making a lot of harmonic interference. Probably the only thing that saved him from pinpointing his location was his signal was overloading the searchers when they got close. By the way the second guy’s tv was unwatchable 😝 It’s a good idea keep metal in the vicinity away to help reduce harmonics/radiating elements or be in a Faraday cage. Have fun and be careful
@Skypowerwithkarl Haha, yeah thats actually something, im a bit nervous about😅 Especially because i Experiment almost everyday now for about 1 month with that thing😅
Just make an oiled paper capacitor like in the old school. You can make a paraffined paper capacitor too (Tesla style). Add some liquified paraffin on both layers of a paper sheet. Then, when it solidifies, use an iron to add the aluminum film (it will be 'glued' to the paper due to the paraffin). These kinds of capacitors are ideal for very high voltages and could last forever. Not to mention the polyester resin vacuum capacitors.
@@TriunfoGim thats a cool idea! i have 2 liters paraffine oil here! I thought about that before, but wasnt sure about the voltage rating of oiled copy paper or something. But i will give it a try for sure!🙂 thanks!
@@marvswelt2587 Good, remember to use new mineral oil or use a vacuum pump (it can be obtained from an old freezer or an A/C compressor) in case of old mineral oil (due to air and moisture diffusion in the oil). Then, submerge it several times in heated solid paraffin (like candle wax) to seal it and give it shape. Make sure to wind these capacitors. Therefore, you will get a brand new old-fashioned capacitor maden like a pro (The ironing proces is for solid paraffine) but liquid parafine can be use for those wet papper oil capacitor of the old school.
bro why is this not popular
Cool!
Would it be worth buying a vacuum pump to bag it up and suck out the air
@Smrts955 Oh yes for sure!🙂
A bit of advice, from someone who has destroyed many film capacitors: Do Not Cut Your Foil With The Cutter From The Box!!!!! The HV gets drawn to the points / teeth that the cutter makes. You will think 10KV is in your Capacitor, but the tips of those points will be at 200 to 300 KV and the arcing begins. Cut the foil smooth with a razor blade or a paper cutter, also cut the corners rounded, not squared. Rolled, is easier than stacked.
Krasser output.
More data. Take whatever type of measurements you can in as many places as you can. Perhaps you can create a map of the feilds in that space. If not, a little lsd goes a long way.
@charliemckay6681 😄thats actually a really nice idea!!!😃
Are you living above a nightclub
@CamelCasee No, but someone said earlier, that he heard something too😅 Sorry i dont know where that comes from.
@@marvswelt2587 It's a ghost party being attracted by the electricity in the air 😆
@CamelCasee haha🤣
Nice that's a chonker
@SINHRO-FAZA yes exactly!😄 and now with the rolled Version it is cheaper than a capacitor that i can buy with the same specs! I dont have to wait for shipping and i need around 1 hour to make it😁 Thanks mate🙌
You need more voltage for more distance. And voltage of your VTTC is?
@@imeprezime1285 i dont know the actual secondary voltage.
@marvswelt2587 If you measure ground current input to your secondary you can estimate it: V=I*(2πfL). I -peak current of wave L-low frequency inductivity. This is gives correct result within 10% since current near peak is close to the sine wave shape
@imeprezime1285 oh wow ok, thanks!😀
Are you running 4 MOT's on 1 16A fuse?
@bassmaster9781 No i have the primarys of each series MOT stack in series and parallel together, to run it on 2 Phase 400V
If you can try to make both your secondary with almost same resonance frequency, hopefully energy transmission will be more efficient
When You touch the wire you ad to the capacitance and that is enough to allow the tube to light up. The florescent tube is a natural negative resistance device.
@johanrheeder1640 Ok interesting!
I tried two mots in series and now my Tesla coil output is worse. 😂 How many uF are you using on the doubler with two mots in series? Mine is 3.6uF but only works with single MOT. Thank you.
@coreyworthington2797 i use actually 4 MOT's😅 2x2 in series in parallel. I use about 6uF now.. 3.6uF should be fine too! When you made an upgrade from Single MOT to 2 inseries mot, you have to tune the feedback circuit again, when you double the power voltage so the feedback voltage to the grids are around double too! In my case i reduced the feedback coil turns from 15 (for Single mot) to 8 (series mot's) Also there can be way more issues. Did you tested the MOT stack AND the voltagedoubler circuit before, if it funktions right? Maybe some internal arcing in the MOT's ? Phase issues? Are the capacitors still ok? Ground issues? Some weird arcing somewhere Else? There can be actually a lot of things😅
@marvswelt2587 thanks for the advice. I'll see what happens this weekend. I purchased 10 more .9uF microwave capacitors. I still need to make all the connecting wires. I'll try tuning the feedback coil as well.
@coreyworthington2797 it should definitely work ok with the 3,6uF But yeah more capacitance will give you more Juice 😄
@@coreyworthington2797 all microwave capacitors have a 10 meg ohm bleeding resistor build in and that reduce their efficiency
